I have been stayed in this hotel for three times and recommended my parent and relatives to stay as well. I like the hotel style, the details, the services and convenient location. It is very close to shopping mall where I can find favorite food. Hotel breakfast provides both western and Chinese style of food. Grand Hyatt hotel is always my first choice when I need stay in hotel in downtown Shanghai.
I chose this hotel because of the location and view. The staff are all very nice with polite service. There are many restaurants in the hotel so a lot of choice and food are very delicious. I hope I can been to Shanghai again soon. Grand Hyatt will be my first choice for next trip.
It was built near CBD which means it's suitable for business people. It's near the subway, so it is a easy access to any part of Shanghai. What a good location. Friendly staff and good service. It is worth going many times.
Too expensive and too bad quality of these foods. Cannot believe this is produced by Hyatt hotel. Our community group ordered on April 27 around 100 bags of multiple bread which price seems pretty expensive. The most disappointed thing is that food we actually received on May 02 was not good completely. 500g bread cost CNY168, without any formal package, even no produced date. How dare you do that!
Grand Hyatt Shanghai is a first class choice. I was taken cared of by Daisy and Hang upon my arrival at the hotel. Their warmth and professionalism made me feel welcome at each step of my stay. I will definitely come back and recommend your hotel to my friends.
Built a while ago and a landmark for pudong but still in great condition. Friendly staff and good service. Recommended if you are staying for work nearby or touring in pudong and love the fantastic view of the city skyline and the beautiful curve of the huangpu river all from your room.
Have not been back to this hotel since my visit to Shanghai in 2006 IIRC as I stayed mostly at the west side for the visits. This time I had meeting in the Pudong area so I chose this hotel instead. The hotel seems to have been updated and the view is great as always. The front desk was super friendly. The breakfast area is a bit too crowded and the service is lacking. Overall it was a great stay.
To start, there’s no check in counter for WOH members when I checked in late, although there's still a long queue holding up. And when it’s my turn, my upgrade request as a globalist were rejected although understandably due to my checking in on NYE. There's no welcome nor even basic introduction about hotel facility at all, no reminder regarding suggest breakfast time, and no check out time mentioned, needless to say no travel advise/suggestion were given but only introduction of the noisy NYE special party last till 1am which require extra tickets purchasing. And after I confirm my upgrade request were well noted, front desk confirmed that she’d mark up my request and I may ask Grand club assistant tomorrow morning when I have breakfast. However, when I turn up for breakfast at 09:50 (breakfast time 6:30 to 10:30), there’s another huge crowd already waiting for entry. The waiting is very annoying as basically you can only wait in the lift lobby of that floor, and after long enough, when I sat down finally, no drinks were served nor the table were properly cleaned , this is all of course due to the chaos and busy schedule the staff are having. Even more disappointing is to found that basically all food and even cutleries are all gone and not available. There’s no bread, no fruit, nor hot food left at all, not even fork or even plate, etc. It’s just a disaster and there’s no grand in this “grand club”. Replacement of food/fruit only come out from time to time and will only last without a minute. Despite the very limited food choice provided in such a small grand club, there’s only one cook works on the live station who need to take care of the egg station and the noodle station at the same time. A long wait is expected but when we sit down at almost 10:25, we were told food will only last till 10:45, we barely have time to have breakfast at all. The second day I thought I’ve learned from experience so I did went at 09:20 so no more waiting for entry finally, I thought the bad experience I had in the first morning were only due to the overcrowded demand but I were totally wrong. Although the cutleries and food come back to life, the service and the food quality didn’t sadly. So I decided to skip my third day entry to the “grand club” and just have my own breakfast. To add on, after this horrible experience in the grand club on the first morning, I did ask for my room upgrade situation at the grand club, it were turned down again as they told me the occupancy rate is high (which is conflict with what I were told by the front desk when I checked in) but a corner room with Floor-to-ceiling glasses with a better view is proposed and it would be a bigger room so I accepted. I double confirm my phone no. I left with front desk is corrected and they promise they will call when the room is ready although is expected to be in the evening. Although it seems to me that they don’t care my request at all and don’t care if there’s a note marked (or not) but just giving me a general answer. And till now my phone did not received any call accordingly (my phone is completely working fine) and I think they did treat their promise respectfully and they did take good care of their highest tier member. And with the beautiful sound generated from both room on the side through out, I ended my three night stay with this hotel totally out of expectation. So if you are expecting some quality stay and service a globalist like myself on this hotel, I strongly suggest you think twice or you are just playing with your luck.…
It was a great special occasion stay at this landmark hotel in Shanghai. Although initially skeptical about this old hotel building, the look & feel from the lobby to the registration and finally the room was this was a very well maintained facility. Coupled with the great service from the staff, the overall experience was a memorable stay. This was a big change from another hotel from the same chain across the Huangpu river which was not so good or pleasant. The location was also excellent with the hotel being closed to malls and restaurants along the river.
For almost two decades I've been waiting for a chance to stay in this place. But when it finally happened, I was a little disappointed. It happened to be on my birthday. Upon check in, the front desk said they cannot do anything for this but later said they would send a fruit basket. It turned out to be a plate with two unwashed peaches and came in very late. During that weekend, the hotel was overflooded with people and long lines to every thing (club, breakfast, pool), ruining all the experience. Dirt on the counter corners, no box of paper tissues in the room, no one answering the room service call, a bit taste of an old "state-run" place... all these small detail made the stay a little disappointed. The view was spectacular but that was the only highlight.
