We read some reviews about this Grand Hyatt being dated and poorly maintained but still came here anyway given the location and price, but once we arrived we realized just how poorly maintained the hotel is. The entire facility is very tired and poorly maintained, rows of domestic tourists at the lobby, the club lounge was so poorly stocked and maintained it felt embarrassing. Rooms are poorly kept and poorly cleaned-stains everywhere, countertops in the bathroom all show stains and massive wear and tear. Decor looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 80s. Stayed one night and quickly moved out to a nearby hotel. Severely disappointed.

Exceptional experience at this hotel! From the moment we stepped in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. The attention to detail in the room decor, cleanliness, and amenities was truly impressive. The hotel's central location made it convenient to explore the city, and the breathtaking views from our room added an extra layer of charm. The on-site dining options surpassed our expectations, offering a delightful culinary journey. Overall, a fantastic stay that exceeded all our expectations. Highly recommend this hotel for a top-notch hospitality experience.

Its was a great stay at The Grand Hyatt Shanghai, the room was very clean, towels were replaced with fresh ones every day, the view was one of my favorites, the breakfast was standard and very good. Good location, very close to the metro, people from concierge help the guest get where he wants and answer all the questions, the hotel can store suitcases before or after check-out really nice option. On B3 there is a small shop called lawson, which is open all the time so you can buy whatever you need there at any time I consider my stay a success and I have no complaints about this hotel

Reached the Hotel and the reception people do not speak english. Checked in finally and went up to Cloud 9 for drinks. They take 15-20minutes to come with drinks, after 5 full munites trying to get them to understand what you want. At breakfast, asked 3 people for 2 fried eggs sunny side up and water, no one understands. Lunch on 56: 55usd for dry pizza, a bit of salad and some bad buffet. A complete scandal another 10-15 minutes to find someone who can understand the table wants water. The gym room machines are only in mandarin so good luck if you cannot read chinese. This hotel for me used to be one of the best standards in the world pre covid. They really were affected by the pandemic it seems. Hopefully it recovers and becomes an international hotel again and not just a chinese establishment.

Shanghai hotels are usually quite good and this hotel did not disappoint. Room is spacious and decent, and views are amazing. Location is not bad except the building itself does not have much by way of restaurants or shops. You can cross the road to the building where Park Hyatt is and there are places to eat (including a food court @ B2) but they close rather early around 8.30pm or 9pm. Service at the hotel is poor. Breakfast was included but I got sent up and down from one restaurant to another, and the staff seems clueless as to whether breakfast was included or where I should go. They were not the least bit helpful or apologetic. Overall, staff (throughout the hotel) were detached and there was no warmth and no smiles. Frankly they all look pretty disengaged or unhappy. One would have expected more from a 5-star hotel. If you need a hotel in this location and do not care too much about the service or the staff, this hotel is passable.

Amazing how fast a great hotel like the Grand Hyatt can loose it's luster. After having been open now for over two decades. Service seems to have dropped after Covid but the views are still impressive. Price was too high for what you can get in the Pudong area for hotels a decade & a half newer. Breakfast has also declined as after a decade and a half of spending up to four weeks in China I was disappointed with limited options compared to years past.

I think we might have spoiled a thief who was in action when we came back from a short walk during our initial stay from June 17 -19, 2023. This guy in Navy blue or black uniform was in our room with the safety lock on as I opened our room door and the safety lock chain was connected. He came out saying that the lock repairman did not put the lock back properly. But we did not ask for any lock repair and we did not challenged him and he then quickly left. We thought he was making our bed then. However, in our second stay on July 4th, we asked for an extra blanket and it was the cleaning staff dropped off, not some man in black uniform. It made me think that the guy was in our room looking for cash. As we are not Chinese nationals and we could not use WeChat pay, we carry a lot of cash in RMB, I think we became easy targets. However, this kind of things happened in Grand Hyatt Shanghai is beyond comprehension. Good thing was that we used the safe then. But who knows, maybe someone could come in and reset the pwd too. I heard such thing happened in China’s hotel online before but could not ever imagine it actually happened in Grand Hyatt Shanghai. Just be aware if you stay in any hotel there.

Service was not to standard as a luxury hotel. No greetings nor assistance to club members accessing the Club Lounge, we have waited for get an empty table for breakfast and need to ask the staff to remove stack of dirty dishes and clean the table. The manager used paper tissues to clean the serving area, dishes and utensils not refill in timely manner, another manager was busy with managing the coffee machine. Understand Aug is peak season and possibly the hotel is lack of staff, however I don’t feel the hospitality of the hotel, no smile (even with mask people can see). No preemptive service, the luggage boy outside the door managing the traffic was quite rude when we asked the whereabouts and suggestions for restaurants - your team missed the chance to cross sell the restaurant. Overall no priory feeling of the club member we ended up change to another hotel.

The hotel has deteriated over the years and is no long pleasant for business travels. There are too many kids running arround in breakfast areas, hotel lobby, and fitness center, making noises. Try to avoid the hotel if you need a quite hotel to stay.
