I stayed at JW Marriott tomorrow square in Shanghai for no less than 100 days, in part during the challenging lockdown period. In retrospect, my choice of stay in this hotel was the best thanks to the excellent staff, fantastic service, and cooperation in all needs. It is unfair to mention only a few staff names since all the staff was excellent. However, I would like to thank Hilda, Claire, Maria, Johnson, and of course, Danny, the GM... thanks to all.

JW Marriott Tomorrow Square is conveniently locate right in downtown of Shanghai, subway station & plenty of shopping malls are just few minutes walking distance away, easy to reach out to shopping or commercial district. This is one of the tallest building within the vicinity so all the rooms can share the amazing views of the city skylight . The room is clean & spacious, however they are a bit dated, and starting to worn out in certain area (such as the carpets in my room). Hotel has upgraded the lighting in the room since I was here last time, as it used to be fairly dark in the room, even with all the lights turned on. The room had plenty of table and storage spaces with is a bonus, Wi-Fi was stable & fairly fast in China standard, the gym and pool facility is great also. The view from 59/F Club Lounge is magnificent, unfortunately its a bit too small for the size of the hotel, and always busy. The large number of people accessing the lounge also makes it difficult to enjoy the environment. The food during the evening cocktail is reasonable, however almost everyday share very similar menu. Overall, immaculate services from the bell attendant, front desk staff, crews in restaurant and the staff in 59/F lounge. In particular I appreciated the professional & friendly services from the Front Office Manager Miss Lyndsay, Restaurant manager Mr Jeffrey Zhou. The restaurants staff Miss Aviva, Eva & Mr Adam also always help me a lot during my stay with my catering needs. Great hospitality from the front desk staff Mr Leo, Terry, Jackson, Raven, Tom, John, Eason and Miss Claire. There are plenty of hotels in the same area, but JW certainly is a great hotel with excellent location & become one of my favour, look forward to my next stay in Shanghai with them.

This is my first time traveling to China. Thanks to the staff's help and care, patiently explaining the constantly changing COVID lockdown situation, I don't feel out of place and thing's don't feel chaotic. They've accommodated all of my requests including the best suite available and food allergy requirements. When the Shanghai 2022 citywide COVID lockdown began, I was staying at another hotel. We were forced to leave the hotel due to the pandemic and we were lucky to have the JW Marriott Hotel take us in when other hotels were all locked down. Even with all the chaos and uncertainty, the staff here at the JW Marriott were extremely professional and welcoming, immediately making us feel at home. While this hotel is a bit older, it does not feel old and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and condition of the rooms, lobby, and facilities in general. For the past 3-weeks being locked down in this hotel, the staff has gone above and beyond to continue to provide the best service to keep us comfortable in this challenging time. Due to the lockdown, the hotel has been short staffed as many staff are locked in at home. Despite working extra shifts to cover the staffing shortage, being locked in the hotel with all of us guests, they're always serving us with friendly attitudes and smiles. I'd like to thank the general manager Danny Parnack for his leadership and always taking the time to get to know each guest. Leo Yang has been amazing in keeping us informed about the lockdown situation, and most importantly, always bringing positivity and happiness to the guests. John at concierge feel like a neighborly uncle and has been a wealth of information to help me settle in Shanghai. Finally, I'd like to thank Claire, Maria, and Terry for accommodating all of our requests, helping us with whatever we need to work remotely in the hotel, and assisting with COVID tests when necessary.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks, all the hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. Even there are shortage of resources and manpower during lockdown period, they always can satisfy our needs immediately. Especially thanks to Leo Yang, who always can response to our questions timely, helping guests to understand the current changes of lockdown policy and caring everyone who stayed in the hotel. I also want to thanks Maria who take me through every step to complete the nucleic acid test in hospital, which is complicated and she really help me a lot. Lastly thanks the GM Parnack Danny, who manage the hotel very well and very professional. In short, the hotel service is not affect by the limited supply of resources and number of hotel staffs during the city lockdown.

I have been traveling extensively in China for 20 years. I checked in since 9th March 2022 after my 21 days quarantine in Shanghai. And this is my first time staying here. As a frequent travelor like myself, hotel is a hotel, I rarely wrote any review after stayed in one, but for this time, especially durnig this unusual lockdown in Shanghai, I really want to praise the good work the crew has been doing here. Today is the 15th days in the lockdown in PuXi district (even more for PuDong), and I will use only 4 words to describe the service level of the crew here: "With All Their Hearts". The reason I picked these 4 words is because, they always go extra mile to fulfill the request from the guests, and trust me, after 15 days of lockdown, they get all different kinds of weird requests, and as long as it is within the guidelines of covid control, they always satisfy the guests, and with the most professional manner and friendly smiles on their faces. It is not easy for the crew neither as they are all being isolated in the hotel altogether, away from their families and friends, but to serve us selflessnessly and wholeheartedly. I would like to take this opportunity to give my special BIG THANK YOU to Leo Yang, for everything he has done for all of us, and making the lockdown so much easier to cope with. He is always super friendly, very understandable, and always here to help everyone, even for those unreasonable guests who showed negative emotion against him, he would still be very professional and patient to address their needs. And the General Manager, Parnack Danny, is always very informative and update us whenever he has a chance about the latest situation, and always encourage us to look forward for the release. Thank you Danny. We always say "people make the different", and I can defintiely feel and experience it here in JW Marriott Shanghai at Tomorrow Square. You guys are the best, you guys are our hero, Marriott should be really proud of having such an outstanding crew. Sorry I did not know all the staffs' names, but every single one here is awesome. And oh, last but not least, the kitchen crew here is amazing, even for lunch boxes during lockdown, food here is very good, fresh and full of varieties. And the A La Carte is also very good. If I must complain, I will only say, you guys are all working too hard and too well, you should take care of yourselves and take some rest. :-) All the best, and I will stay in this hotel from now on whenever I travel to Shanghai. Way to go JW Marriott at Tomorrow Square, Way to go Shanghai.

Every aspect of stay was disappointing so much that I checked out early and went to a different hotel. Front desk staff ignored me when I arrived. Even after I was recognized as an Ambassador Elite member (highest rank in the Marriott program) things didn’t get better. Room was the size of a shoe box. Restaurant was closed and no notification in advance. Food at executive floor actually tasted worst than it looked. Bathroom in room wasn’t clean. I have stayed at this property a number of times (40+ nights) and it use to be a good choice. Don’t know what happened, but there are so many better choices in Shanghai. Marriott Corp. should pull the JW banner from this property as it is an embarrassment to the brand.

I stayed at JW Marriott Tomorrow Square for a week in January 2022. I was warmly welcomed by Mr. Leo at Front Desk, a gentleman who impressed me deeply. He helped me finish my check-in process fastly and introduced all facilities in hotel in detail to me. As a Taitinum memeber of Marriott Bonvoy, my room was free upgraded to an executive suite, which let me have a much better experience for such a long stay. All staff were good at serving their guests, even some of them were just freshman/freshwoman in the hotel. Concierge staff were excellent, they could help you receive your package and get them into your room. The hotel was not as "old school" as I expected, all facilities were kept quite good. The location is very fantastic, the hotel is just near the core area of Shanghai, very convenient. I will definitely back to this hotel again!

Very good location in Shanghai downtown. Checkin as well as Checkout Marriott Standard. Good breakfast and good service in Hotel. As Marriott member offered upgrades and Lounge access. Here the weakness of the hotel. Suite available at 4.30pm which is not nice. Nevertheless a room for resting at waiting time was offered but still is not nice to wait so long. The lounge very crowded and noisy. Fight for food because of too many people and quality of food not Marriott standard. The performance of lounge staff not professional. All in all, very nice hotel for tourists but not cheap. As Marriott member there are better and cheaper options in Shanghai. A visit once is a must because of view from 59th floor. As standard hotel in Shanghai i will not choose.

Yes, I do agree with people who commented about reception. Very limited English, super slow, some of them were rude- no eye contact and bad manager. I asked for the information about the lounge and one of reception staff told me “I don’t know” I asked her to ask her colleagues and all she kept saying was “I don’t know”. After I checked out from the app, I went to reception to return cards, she didn’t even make any eye contact, almost ignored me, I spoke to her in mandarin, she made very annoyed face expression and just took the cards away. We stayed here last December, we really enjoyed our stays, not sure what happened but it was unpleasant staycation.

This hotel is mediocre at best. We stayed here because my wife just arrived in China and we needed a hotel that would accept guests who just completed quarantine and didn’t have a registered digital health code. We picked this hotel for that specific reason and notified the hotel in advance of that requirement. Even with the advanced coordination, the check in staff still insisted that all guests must have a digital health code and that papers from the quarantine center were insufficient. While the front desk clerk backed down after I explained that it’s not possible for a person who just left the quarantine center to have such a code, I found the hassle off-putting. At the times of reservation (one week before our stay) I requested executive lounge access and my employer’s travel arranger confirmed that access. At the time of check in, Lindsay (front desk clerk) said that I had access and explained the hours and amenities. About two hours later I tried to access the lounge but my key card didn’t work. I went back to the front desk and spoke to another clerk (Lily) who couldn’t find my lounge access in my reservation so she offered me “one time access for free.” I checked the lounge which only served soft drinks during the afternoon and nothing else until evening and then decided not to pursue the matter further as it didn’t seem worthwhile. I’m still annoyed that my request for lounge access was lost somehow and no attempt made by the hotel to find out why. Breakfast is good in variety and quality but the dining room is dingy and poorly attended. On Thursday of my stay I had to instruct a member of the staff to clean a table for us. Many tables were vacant but still littered with dirty dishes and food crumbs. A guest should never have to tell staff to clean a table. Room service was iffy at best. The clerk who took my order could not understand me and struggled with English. I understand that Wu and Mandarin are the languages of Shanghai but I consider English language assistance as part of the service that costs 1,650 RMB per night. Despite all of the shortcomings in service, this isn’t a bad hotel. The rooms are clean, reasonably spacious, and comfortable. The housekeeping staff do a great job. The views are amazing as all of the guest rooms are on high floors. In short, this hotel is okay but overpriced. It’s just not worth the premium. Throughout our week long stay we felt tolerated but not welcomed. I think we’ll try another place on our next visit to Shanghai. There are many other places available at this price range.
