Going Above and Beyond During COVID Lockdown
This is my first time traveling to China. Thanks to the staff's help and care, patiently explaining the constantly changing COVID lockdown situation, I don't feel out of place and thing's don't feel chaotic. They've accommodated all of my requests including the best suite available and food allergy requirements. When the Shanghai 2022 citywide COVID lockdown began, I was staying at another hotel. We were forced to leave the hotel due to the pandemic and we were lucky to have the JW Marriott Hotel take us in when other hotels were all locked down. Even with all the chaos and uncertainty, the staff here at the JW Marriott were extremely professional and welcoming, immediately making us feel at home. While this hotel is a bit older, it does not feel old and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and condition of the rooms, lobby, and facilities in general. For the past 3-weeks being locked down in this hotel, the staff has gone above and beyond to continue to provide the best service to keep us comfortable in this challenging time. Due to the lockdown, the hotel has been short staffed as many staff are locked in at home. Despite working extra shifts to cover the staffing shortage, being locked in the hotel with all of us guests, they're always serving us with friendly attitudes and smiles. I'd like to thank the general manager Danny Parnack for his leadership and always taking the time to get to know each guest. Leo Yang has been amazing in keeping us informed about the lockdown situation, and most importantly, always bringing positivity and happiness to the guests. John at concierge feel like a neighborly uncle and has been a wealth of information to help me settle in Shanghai. Finally, I'd like to thank Claire, Maria, and Terry for accommodating all of our requests, helping us with whatever we need to work remotely in the hotel, and assisting with COVID tests when necessary.

Great service and location but outdated hardware
Everyone I’ve encountered at the hotel were very helpful and very much up to JW standard, especially the porter (same guy on my arrival and departure). Very professional. The hotel is at a great location too. Very easy to call a Didi or it’s just a very short walk to Nanjing road and the Bund. But don’t expect too much from the room, it’s fairly old and worn out (the nightstand speaker still uses the Apple 30-pin connector, not even lightning or Bluetooth! lol). There’s not not of a “design”, but great view from the room in 56/F and the 59/F lounge. The breakfast offers a wide range of food selection but the restaurant is fairly messy and overcrowding (maybe because of the holiday season).
Dear Ucheang, Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We highly appreciate all our guests feedback to be able to further improve on our services and facilities. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with the team and that we are looking into possible changes and training in the near future. We hope to be able to host you again soon. Best Regards, Guest Relations Team

Prime location, captivating views, excellent gym
12-night stay at this distinctive property; one of the tallest buildings in Puxi. Located next to the People’s Square, this hotel is centrally positioned for the surrounding museums and attractions, alongside benefitting from extensive metro connectivity (lines 1, 2, and 8). The Bund is easily reached in 30 minutes walking along the pedestrianised Nanjing Road. The Executive Lounge offers sweeping views across the city, a well-presented afternoon tea, and generous evening service. Breakfast was taken each morning in the restaurant (Lounge not currently open) with a good range of Western and Chinese cuisine, and organised egg/noodle stations. The restaurant does become quite congested later in the morning, particularly over weekends. A particular highlight is the hotel’s extremely spacious and modern 24-hour gym, with a wide range of equipment, regularly cleaned, and never busy despite visiting at different times of day.
Dear oxontheroad, Warm greetings from the JW Marriott Shanghai Tomorrow Square! I would like to thank you for your support and choosing to stay with us during your last visit in Shanghai. We value your attention and personal time spent on replying to us and your great support of our property. Meanwhile, please do not hesitate to contact me directly if I may be of any assistance to you prior to your next visit. Your experience matters to us and we look forward to welcoming you back in the JW Marriott Shanghai Tomorrow Square. Have a wonderful day! Best regards Sherry Wen Loyalty Manager

Great location, in the heart of Shanghai, staff is good, only problem is their breakfast does not have any vegetarian food available other than fruits, this is an international chain, they should give options to theirs guests, everyone is not a meat eater, they are not ready to make something vegetarian, that was really sad

Since it was late when we checked-in, we had dinner at the Executive Lounge. The food was excellent, much better than most lounges we’ve been to, and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. We witnessed a number of examples of excellent, gracious service from the team and the cooking staff, ranging from helping a guest who had dropped food to seeking out guests to give them fresh food that had just been prepared. Cindy, in particular, was really great and provided polite, proactive service.

This is a review of my stay at the JW Marriott shanghai at Tomorrow Square. Hotel location: near the people’s square about 7 minutes walk from Line 2 exit 11 (turn left after exit). Hotel itself if located 38th floor and up. Check in counter is located on the 38th floor. Hotel rooms elevator is different from the lobby elevator. Check process: it was not crowded around 5PM local time, there was no line. Upgraded to the club floor room up on check in. Room: not big but view is excellent. Shanghai skyline is vast and beautiful. Room is clean and bathroom has tub as well as enclosed shower. View out of the bathroom was just as nice. Lounge: I have the use of the executive lounge during my stay. Every staff working at the lounge was super nice and attentive. Faye and Luna were really nice and takes care of me during my time there. Other staffs were equally nice and professional. I tried the afternoon canopy or tea set as well as the diner cocktails hours. The selection was nice enough. Once again it’s all about the people working in the hotel. Things are back to normal after the pandemic, I hope to come back to the hotel in the future.

"This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The rooms were spacious, elegantly furnished, and spotlessly clean. The breathtaking views from my window were a treat for the eyes. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable, catering to every need promptly and with a genuine willingness to help. The amenities were top-notch, including a fantastic pool, well-equipped gym, and a delightful spa that offered rejuvenating treatments. The on-site dining options were exceptional, with a variety of delectable dishes that satisfied my palate. The location was perfect, with easy access to popular attractions and transportation. Overall, I had an unforgettable experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay."

This hotel is absolutely wonderful (beautiful birds-eye views from the room/lobby and convenient location). I want to specifically thank Wayne from the concierge service as well for helping me with such care and consideration. He really went above and beyond in helping me figure out navigate the cardless payment system in China. Thank you Wayne!

JW Marriot Shanghai is centrally located in the Shanghai city, within close walking distance to the People's Square, Nanjing Road, Xintiandi and not far from the Swire complex, making shopping and enjoying the local's food and scenery a perfect place to stay. The hotel itself is nice, though the room is a bit small and a bit worn out. As a lifetime Platinum member of the Marriot Bonvoy program, I got to check in at the Executive Lounge and enjoy the perks there. The services inside the Lounge are very good, and it is a perfect place to enjoy the Shanghai scenery there. However it can get a bit crowded and noisy at times. F&B during the evening cocktail is not bad, but don't over-expect. Gym and the wet facilities are ok, but a bit worn out, especially the gym. It will be much better if someone can clean it up on a regular basis as it was a bit dirty and messy while I was there. If I have to pick on something, it would definitely have to be the front staff at the main entrance. It is the first "gate" and "image" of the hotel and I would expect JW Marriot Shanghai to provide extra attention to it, but somehow it is the worst part of the hotel. The staff there couldn't care less where you are going, and whether you have luggage with you. I was waiting for my car to the airport upon checking out. I had a large suitcase and no-one bothered asking whether I need help or provide any assistance to have it in the trunk. Indeed the young boy was hiding in the corner playing with his phone and the female staff was chatting next to him. Sad!

JW Marriott Tomorrow Square In Shanghai is my favorite hotel in China, such beautiful stunning building, very convenient located next to People’s Park, near Nanjing West pedestrian street easy walking distance to the Bund with all the shopping you will ever need, subway station is just couple minutes away which can access to almost every part of Shanghai. Hotel services and staffs are first class, Carrie at Front Desk always so kind & helpful. The 59th floor Executive Lounge is incredible and the manager Yuri and staffs provided excellent services always. The 1st floor hotel Concierge manager John and staff took good care of me and ensure I had the best experience in Shanghai every time I stayed there, from trip planning , tour arrangements, taxi pick up and other services they are best ever. I love this hotel, it’s my home away from home in Shanghai.
