We stayed at this hotel for a wedding back in November. The Langham brand is a luxury catagory hotel but many small issues in details caused it to lose its luster. We had a large room with 2 beds and a beautiful bathroom with a bidet on the toilet. Where they lost points: ants in the room, cabinets that were poorly assembled and did not close properly, and some stains on the drinkware. The front desk staff was also less attentive than one would expect at this level of luxury, but I had an interesting encounter with the staff in the fitnes/gym area. I am a woman with very short hair and upon entering the women's changing room, one of the male staff shouted at me in mandarin thinking I was a man walking into the women's only area. Luckily a female staffer who had assisted me earlier corrected her coworker and informed him that I was a woman. I asked the manager to speak to the man after I finished washing up. I met the man and told him not to be embarrassed as I am commonly mistsaken for a man but thanked him for doing his job diligently and offered him a tip to keep doing his job with pride. The manager helped me translate this to the man who was very grateful but I told him that I was the one who was grateful for his diligence. But back to the gym, it was a very nice sized work out room with top of the line equipment; they also had an indoor pool that i did not utlize on this visit. The food is quite good at this hotel in both the banquet and subsequent breakfast. They also offer a buffet option but there are also many eateries just across the street in the posh shopping district of XinTianDi.

We decided to book a staycation at the Langham Xiantiandi in Shanghai recently and we were not disappointed! The service and quality of booking an Executive room was well worth it! I have to make special mention of the wonderful hospitality I received from Zoe who is the guest relations manager. Zoe immediately made me feel welcome and explained all the perks of booking an Executive room! We will be back! Thank you Zoe for your friendly smile and hospitality!

The hotel location is very convenient. Lovely upgrade. The room is amazing, very spacious. The front desk service is very cold, but the lounge staff and the doorman are friendly and helpful. The food at the lounge is really good. The breakfast is definitely not up to the Langham standard.

I stayed in this property in March and had an utterly dreadful experience: - I checked in early and my fiancee arrived later. She was asked test her body temperature and showed all the relevant "code"/documentation at the gate, which we fully understood and followed for the public interest - 20 minutes after she entered the room, front desk called the room and asked her to go downstairs to fill in even more paperwork. I picked up the phone and totally accepted it. She was taking a nap after a long trip, so I didn't wake her up immediately, knowing that she will come down later when she wakes up - Front desks called me on my cellphone but I missed it, as it was on mute - Then the dreadful part took place: Despite the fact that "Do not disturb" sign was on, your manager - Zoe and a security guard (named Sky (?)), smashed on my door, demanding us to leave the room immediately. After we politely asked them to not to smash on the door and we will be downstairs in 5 minutes, Sky the security guard basically yelled at us, demanding us to leave the room and go fill in the paperwork with him right now or he is not closing the door. At this difficult time, especially for hotel business, it is more important to treat your customers with respect and kindness, not rudeness than ever before. Just because you are the manager or the security guard does not give you the authority to intrude your customer's privacy and/or to disrespect them. As a business traveler who typically spent 200+ nights in hotels worldwide, I have never encountered anything like this and Zoe/Sky, you owe me an apology here. It is lack of respect when the property assumes its customer is an escaped corona virus carriers, just because I missed your call. It is lack of professionalism to smash the door and intrude our privacy, when the "do not disturb" sign is clearly on. It is even worse when you bring your security guard to demand us to leave the room immediately with you. It is poor management that you didn't do all the processes right at the very beginning at the gate and blame us for your fault later. Word of advice for Zoe/Sky, In any case, a peaceful, polite conversation is always more effective than demanding us like a police officer, because you are on no position to do that. I am very sick of your manners and I will not stay at your property again.
