I stayed at this Sheraton hotel 2 weeks ago. I am platinum member and I was upgraded to a very nice suite. The lounge at night offered complimentary food & drinks. In the morning offered good breakfast and Xiao long Bao (Shanghai soup dumpling)!

I am an SPG member and have visited this hotel for the first time. The hotel is in good location, just 200m from subway station Hailun Road. The room on the SPG floor (3011) was nothing special, almost a bit outdated, 5star hotels offer better rooms normally. Bathroom was nice. The wall around the bed is extremely, disgustingly dirty, you... More

Conveniently located across from a metro station that takes you to the heart of Shanghai in only a few stops. This hotel, with its helpful staff, clean rooms, and relaxing showers were our refuge after a long day of touring around the city. Moreover, the pianist at the lobby offers a relaxing and classy atmosphere for the guests. Highly recommended!

This hotel is excellent right outside of Pudong tourist area, any cab can take you to all the best Shanghai tourist center in 10 minutes. Or take the subway and the city center or Pudong is 3-4 stops away. Also, they really made my day this time by upgrading me to their really big suite, I really appreciated that and... More

Fabulous first impressions....but then... Sadly, the hotel is DIRTY! ... old nails and hairs from previous guests in the carpets. Reception staff - RUDE and unhelpful - one time stood in front of them for over 1 minute before they looked up from their computer....concierge staff no english speaking skills! Room badly smelt of smoke (requested and got a non... More

Positive: Right by the Metro station (Hailun Rd) Big rooms, comfy bed Good breakfast buffet Free wifi, 2,2 Mbps Negative: Rooms towards the metro line (which is here partially on surface) tend to be loud .. every 3-5 Minutes a train passes (from 5am to 11pm) Check in took too long Area around – not very inviting

I pulled the curtains back on my first morning and there was half-eaten, rotting food and cigarette butts in a coffee cup sitting on the window sill. Given all the mould, clearly they had been there for a very long time. This makes it clear that (1) the cleaning staff does not do a good job, (2) management does inspect... More

Very nice first impression. Staff very courteous and especially the concierges and door staff. We got superior rooms on a good rate so made it worthwhile but would definitely not pay full going rate. Bathrooms were the highlight, fab wet room with bath and glass wall, which could be closed electronically. Breakfast was very good but at £22 I found... More

Stayed there for a Business trip. Nothing Special. Aircon was not working properly, neither in the room nor in Meeting rooms. Breakfast was divers but not outstanding. Ordered fried eggs sunny side up three days in a row and they always came not finished. Toaster was not working all the time and nobody could fix it. Room was spacious with... More

Staying in Hongkou

Neighborhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
