The room is confy, the location is not good. Service it is so so. I could not find 2 of the 5 stars the say they are. The bar close at 10pm, the beverage selection is poor. Honestly I would not recommend this hotel and certainly I am not planning to stay here again.

It is not close to subway stations or malls, so to get some decent food, I had to travel 15 minutes by taxi to Jingan area (Kerry mall). There are only 3 options for breakfast, each set cost 88RMB. I tried the continental and oriental breakfast. The food quality is really bad - the sausages are overcooked, the bacon are... More

this place is hidden behind Xinghua hotel at the corner of Jiangsu Road & Huashan Road, not very easy to find. I was told that the building is already more than 100years old, while the hotel started about 5years ago. The interior decoration is simple but pleasant, very european. Service is something that has much room to improve: there was... More

This was a great hotel! Rooms were very spacious and clean and the bed was really comfortable! The hotel was an old mansion so it is beautiful! The scene in the hotel was a bit strange and a little like a ghost town. It has a really great looking bar that was always empty and a restaurant that was reservation... More

The 2 stars are awarded mainly for the quality of the bedroom. This is very spacious, the bed very comfortable excellent bathroom, double sinks, bath shower etc. a good sized living area, terrace on which one can view the small backstreets and very quiet. The décor is a well made reconstruction of colonial style 30’s interiors. This décor continues in... More

This is a nice and quiet place (not easy to find at first) in the hassle of shanghai. the staff and management are really at your service. There are several variety of food (chinese or western). The negative point: the spa needs a week reservation and this is not for us tourist who stay for a few days only.

I had only a short trip to China, and came to Shanghai after a few days in Hangzhou. Frankly I found it all too overwhelming, the traffic, the vast size of the city and the pollution. But the hotel was a wonderful refuge and offered the peace and quiet I need to enjoy some sightseeing and urban hiking! I had... More

We stayed here for two nights during a week trip to Shanghai. We were not really welcomed in any way as all the attention of the staff was towards a noisy wedding that was happening at the hotel. The receptionists had a hard time understanding English or provide us with any information or help. Our suite was dusty, the bathroom... More

The decoration is pretty Shanghai with a touch of western beauty. The service was excellent, for which I mean the responsiveness of its staff and their professional attitude. Yet I was disappointed on the first day because of the poor status of the room -- lack of one pair of slipper, and malfunctioning telephone. The room No. 401 is not... More

The rooms are huge and beautiful appointed. The bathrooms are absolutely massive and fabulous and the entire service is so well-meaning and pleasing that it is a wonderful choice of stay in a foreign city. To enjoy this wonderful city while staying in a boutique hotel truly makes a difference as the city can be extremely intimidating at times but... More

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighborhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
