I was I sofitel for five days with my family. we enjoyed the time but everything was ruined after last evening meal at members lounge! after this meal I've spend last night having diarrhea and have been vomiting. it's fifth day and I am still sick so it wasn't just regular stomach flu. there was something wrong with food for sure! I am very disappointed because I trusted the sofitel brand and was eating at hotel without a fear about food being such a bad quality, having toxins inside!
Really impressed, it had been recommended by several friends over the last few years. The pool is an absolute blast and the staff are all professional and willing to go the extra mile / Even the lifeguards and pool guys were super friendly! I had a first floor room / beautiful design and layout that backed onto the pool… Will definitely return.
When I came to Sofitel in Sheshan, the most intuitive feeling was that the environment was superior. Although the room was a little old, it didn't affect my check-in experience. It was a wonderful trip.
I have been coming to Sofitel Shenshan for the past 3 years. Always enjoyed the Sunday brunch, swimming pool and Sandy beach.... Before. This year it turned into a pretty unpleasant experience. Not worth the money anymore. The restaurant offers a very poor service far from the expected standards. Both in terms of food quality and service. It is more similar to a cantine. The beach is badly kept, run down, not so clean and overcrowded, with people shouting, ordering delivery fast food and leaving trash everywhere. There is an incredible amount of babies. Nothing against babies of course, I do love kids. But I just want to point this out for those who plan to go there for a relaxing swimming pool weekend. There is absolutely nothing relaxing anymore. It feels more as a huge kindergarten. It can be cute or fun to some extent. But NOT relaxing. I had to give up my staying and leave in the middle of the day out of a huge headache. …
This is a strange place to review as there are some highs and some lows. I think if the room rate wasn't on the high side and if the hotel wasn't billed as a 5-star hotel, it would have got an average rating. First the good. Check-in was smooth and the reception team very helpful. The room was well appointed (if a little dated) and comfortable. The swimming pool was nice, as was the sandy area around it. My little boy loved it. There was a fountain area though that was still accessible to guests but which looked derelict. The breakfast buffet had enough choice for a good breakfast. Pizzas were pretty good which is a good job as there isn't much else. OK, now not so good. The F&B offer of this hotel is a disaster. On the first night, we went to the all-day restaurant and were told that most of the menu was not available. This included fried rice and noodles in a Chinese hotel in Shanghai. Also told french fries not available. When challenged the staff member told us it was because this was a very busy time for the restaurant. It was less than a 3rd full at 5.30pm on a Saturday evening. The food that was available was poor and overpriced. For the rest of our stay, we either ate at a nearby mall or ordered in from Ele.me. We found that lots of people were having takeaway delivered to the hotel. In itself this isn't a bad thing but not at a '5-star' resort. The Japanese restaurant was closed for the entire time of our stay. There is no tea and coffee making facility in the room and the hotel charged almost 60RMB for a small cup of black coffee in the lobby. If you want to use the kids' soft play area there is an additional charge of almost 200RMB for 2 hours. Most of the TV channels in the room didn't work. Smoking. Despite being on a supposedly 'no smoking' floor, there were several rooms close to ours that had their door wide open and people smoking in the room. Twice at breakfast, there was a table of guys staying at the hotel for a conference who were smoking away (sat under a no smoking sign!) at their table. Not one member of staff approached them about this. Again, this happens when you travel around China but is not expected at a '5-star' resort hotel in Shanghai. Overall we left disappointed. Had a great time playing in the pool and in the sand with my son but sad about the lack of dining experience and some of the details you expect a hotel at this level to get right.…
The hotel exceeded my expectations from the facilities to how friendly the staff were. This hotel is one of the best family hotels I have been to. The beach and pool area are perfect for little ones to have fun. The staff could not have done enough to make it a pleasant stay for our family. The breakfast was high quality and the evening buffet reasonable priced. I will definitely be booking another stay at the Sofitel!
Every year, with family to the holiday hotel, resort hotel in Shanghai a few plus the Sofitel brand, overall hotel level is ok. But this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday with my family for holiday, only to find the hotel service level dropped significantly, management is chaos. Due to the outbreak, the hotel staff loss serious, plus a large passenger flow dragon-boat festival holiday, the hotel some understaffed. House keeping phone went unanswered for a long time, executive lounge closed, breakfast also in buffet restaurant, but in the face of large passenger flow is not like other hotels in the cafeteria to draw an administrative dedicated area for guest use, the breakfast buffet at the door for a long time to wait in line. Part of the communication between also insufficient, the front desk told all restaurant open, normal dinner preparation time restaurant, as a result, food and beverage told Japanese restaurant closed... Hope that the hotel service quality problem is only a temporary, hope to be able to return to the level before the outbreak…
Spacious meeting space for medium sized conference, but it is indeed far from the main city as others have pointed out. It’s good if you want to keep conference attendees in one place :-) I had a nice breakfast every morning in the hotel restaurant on the ground floor. Hotel has beautiful outdoor amenities but weather was bad so I mostly stayed inside
very special travel for us！the room is very clean and it is big enough.anyway，the service is excellent that I can feel comfortable like in my own house. however，I remember the reception is police and very nice smile. good travel good holiday
Always very nice people and a very good service at Sofitel club. You feel like home at this hotel. I have stayed at this hotel many times, and I have not have one bad experience. In general will I say that almost on all my stays at Sofitel around the world is the concept just great. Sofitel Sheshan Oriental definitely add to that experience
