I have been to pearl resort a number of times on day trips. 2 weeks ago I booked for a stay as we were attending a function near by. Reservation: I had called in 1 week earlier to book, they had a special going on and I sepcifically asked for the new wing and I have had multiple reviews that the old wing in not in a good state. I got a booking for $175 with breakfast and was happy as all resorts are giving a good rates due to no tourists ( due to COVID ). When I went to check -in first of all no staff were name tags so cant mention who I spoke to. The guy who served me was not customer friendly at all. ( I suspect they do this to the locals) . he said my booking is for the old wing. I definelty didnt want the old wing and created a bit of fuss as i had sepcifically asked for new wing. They had no recod of my conversation on their system. I ended up paying $199 so I can get a adjoin room . They told me breakfast is $15 for adult, Under 12 is half price and under 5 is free. I have a 9 year old and a 3 year old. we went to our room, the walkways and the corridors were really dirty, the rooms were neatly setup but the hand basin was dirty. the floors felt dusty as well. The dryer was available with no correct connection. The towels were stained and felt dirty. The food selection for dinner was not impressive at all, the Fish of day was dry like it was grilled for 2 or 3 times . Next day we were charged for 2 adult breakfast, the explantion provided was that same size was served, my 3 year was also serveed the same but his was Free . The staff either dont know what they doing or what deals they are offered. The pool was dirty , the sitting area was dirty right in the morning. So its clear its not cleaned overnight. There were no beach towels available All in all the stay at pearl was not worth the money spent.

The food quality was absolutely bad! Fathers day buffet for 29 FJD was an absolute waste of money, time and the fuel costs from nausori to the location. As per the menue freshly baked bread tasted a day old. The mini bread rolls had a dry and tough texture to it. Cream of mushroom was bland. No taste. Even the seasoning of black pepper on the table was moldy and expired!! Ika kokoda had a terrible fishy taste to it. Periperi chicken skewer was not cooked! Pink meat and that raw texture after I chewed into it was horrible. Chilli ginger lamb chops had no flavor, even though it was freshly being made, the meat was dry, chewy, between medium done and full done and the fat was not trimmed. To top it all up it was not even warm let alone it being hot in temperature. Pineapple and honey glaze roasted pork was dry. Grilled fish was just horrible on the tastebuds due to the lack of flavour. Corn on cob was practically half raw. Cooked on the outside and not done properly. Jacket potato was merely whole roasted potatoes individually wrapped in aluminium foil. Traditional jacket potatoes is something I assume the executive/sous chef would know better! Wok fried vegetables were okayish after adding the condiments. Pavlova was soft on the inside nevertheless I tried to enjoy it by spicing it with whipped cream and berry compote like mix. The fruit salad was just fresh watermelon cubes mixed with canned peaches and pear I believe. With chopped mint leaves and syrup. The ice cream was served in warm dishes making the ice cream all runny, something one cant eat with a fork as that is what was initially provided in place of a spoon!! Overall the buffet was not worth the enthusiasm that I had when i contacted the food and beverage manager. The buffet was not self service and the staff were full of ego. I requested for more wok fried vegetables since the guy serving had given me just a tablespoon worth of it, he added another portion of the same quantity and when I asked if I could serve it out myself, he took a huge lump of it and literally dumped it on my plate. I asked for more glasses of iced water since one of our glasses was contaminated and we waited for more than 10 mins before the server came around and she said she had forgotten the water! We asked for dessert spoons and were given soup spoons to eat our ice cream. Something better than the forks which we had in the beginning to eat ice cream with. However when we got hold of 1 dessert spoon the spoon was fillthy! The lady scooping out the ice cream was pretty arrogant when we inquired if there were cooler bowls in which we could have our icecream since the bowls at the table were just out of the dishwasher and were pretty warm. The guys at the lamb chops station were also giving out a piece of lamb chop at a time and we had to request the kind lady at the entry if we could serve ourselves since we had made 3 trips to the lamb chop station and the lamb chops being served was basically 2 bites worth. The dining environment was more like dining in a kitchen on a busy day. With all the hustle and bustle of the waitresses clearing tables while guests were still in the midst of eating was really annoying. I had to stop a waiter from clearing our table since he was taking our bone dish. Just behind me was the food trolley which had dirty plates and leftovers being piled onto before it was cleared off. The servers were not friendly, no genuine smiles on their faces like other resorts and hotels I have dined at recently. Music was a bit loud. Overall bad food quality, wastage of money and I could have definitely gotten better food and service at either other hotels nearby or even at hotels in suva since everyone had fathers day buffet and not forgetting that I had paid in full 5 days prior to the closing of the reservation. If I had known that my first experience at pearl would be so pathetic, I would have definitely chosen a better venue. Please refer to images below.

The room was clean and spacious, i would recommend staying at the Ocean view premium room. the staff were very friendly and room service was very fast. it is a quiet and beautiful place for intimate events and also for groups who are looking for sun sea and the sand. we even got late check out upon request which was approved. the rates for the hotel was very reasonable too.

Classic services with highly rated facilities. We (family) did love the period we spent in the Resort especially the kids where I have chased them away from the pool because they almost spent the whole day swimming. A second Pool may be a food for thought in the future to ensure full enjoyment with kids, safety while in the pool and avoid overcrowding.
