Spent a wonderful 6 nights on Matamanoa which was our first trip to Fiji. Incredible scenery and amazing beaches. The island itself is quite small and feels very secluded. Our beachfront villa was quite new and had excellent decor. Spent a lot of time just relaxing in our pool or on our day bed. The staff were lovely and made... More

We spent the first week in Fiji on a family island to attend a 40th birthday and then moved onto a adult only island of Matamanoa. We were both extremely happy when we arrived on Matamanoa Island. The staff are very friendly and constantly make you feel like you are special. The resort is constantly being kept up to date... More

Dishonest employees swindled me out of 30 Fijian dollars to get me some weed. Lol hope he enjoys that 1/3 of his paycheck. Views are the hotel are spectacular. The rooms lack amenities custom to a true five star resort. Not even a telephone to order room service. No tv, no washer an dryer. The Internet is overpriced an lousy.... More

Bula Brandon, Perhaps you did not have time to read the official advertising of Matamanoa Island. Firstly may I correct some of your comments please. Matamanoa has never been advertised as a 5 star Resort, it is 4 star rated everywhere on every site and in particular the official Matamanoa site. Room Service is advertised for the 9 Beachfront Villas... More

The place is a paradise, an island in the middle of nowhere and the resort is the only place therein. Rooms are big and fashion, with small outside pool and just 2 meters from the beach. You can enjoy privacy if you want and good company as well. Lots of things to do and sport activities, you do not have... More

We arrived at Matamanoa resort and received the kindest warmest welcome. The staff were all so very nice. We received our room quickly and were overwhelmed by the size of the room, the privacy each Bure has and the easy access to the beach. We really loved everything about it until food became an issue. Unfortunately the food was disappointing.... More

I’m sure there are a lot of people who would absolutely love Matamanoa Island Resort, but it was not what we were expecting, and really not for us. Although it is an adults-only resort, it felt like a holiday camp, with activity boards filled with entertainment such as ping-pong tournaments and sing-alongs, and an award ceremony every evening during dinner... So sorry, apologies that we couldn't turn on the sunshine for your visit, when it's raining it seems to dampen all enthusiasm. More

Had a great time despite the unseasonal rain. Staff were brilliant and helpful, food was fair and quite varied given there is only one restaurant. Diving was brilliant. Beach Villas are awesome especially the ones on the north side of the island. Only gripe was the prices. Higher than top Sydney restaurant prices for the food and exorbitant but below... More

beautiful Island, with fantastic snorkelling. Rooms were fantastic as was the food. Bring alcohol and any snacks you want as its Very expensive on the island. Prefect for couples, we even had a romantic dinner for 2 on the beach. I did get a bit restless after a couple of days as its very secluded and I like actives

We visited in the first week of August, and it was a tropical paradise, especially as we'd just been freezing our butts off in Sydney. Stayed at a bure for 7 nights, and I think that's about the right amount of time - not too short so that a day or two of rain ruins the stay, but not too... More

We stayed in a beachfront villa for 4 nights. The room was lovely, clean and serviced daily. The view was spectacular, especially the sunset. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The private plunge pool was an added bonus as swimming is not recommended at low tide. We went on the Village Tour and Church Visit, both we would highly... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Matamanoa Island is an intimate and secluded, adults only Fijian Resort. We are set in the beautiful Mamanuca Islands approximately 30 kilometers west of Nadi International Airport - experience a true gift of nature. The Island boasts a volcanic cone jutting out of the azure waters of this unspoiled marine sanctuary. Clad with native bush and palm trees, the brilliance of the vegetation contrasts magnificently with the white curved sandy beaches and pristine coral reefs. Combined with nature, we have created a haven for those who want to relinquish the pressures of a busy lifestyle. This is for those who dream of peace and tranquility. To achieve this special atmosphere, Matamanoa Island Resort has adopted a year round policy of not permitting day-trippers or children under the age of 16 years. ... more   less
