I am not one for "water " based holidays, I am more your city type , however I am already planning my next visit to this island. There is something for everyone. The main attraction is that the island is only for people over 16 . The friendly Fijian staff are encouraged to "mingle" with the guests, without being in... More

This stunning resort lived up to everything that we had hoped for and could have wanted. On arrival, we were greeted by the staff singing and dancing. This is a regular feature, though it does depend on when you arrive as to how many are there to greet you. We were shown to the bar area, provided with towels and... More

We spent 3 nights here, and regret that we couldn't stay longer. We both absolutely loved it. We had a beachfront villa, number 15, which is the furthest away from the resort. It was a 10min walk to the resort for meals and activities, but you could ring up and get a golf cart to pick you up. The walk... More

My husband and I recently spent 6 nights at this resort. Transfers: We caught the south seas catamaran ferry both ways. On time and comfortable. Wear thongs or footwear that can get wet as you have to walk through some water when getting on/off the beach. The accommodation: We stayed in a Bure. Lovely and clean, although bathroom somewhat understated.... More

My wife and I stayed at Matamanoa for 9 days/8 nights, this resort is very relaxing and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Our beach bure was spacious with its own private plunge pool overlooking the beach and out to sea. Having your own pool is a great idea and a real luxury. The restaurant and bar were... More

My partner & I recently stayed at the island resort. This is indeed a piece of paradise in the middle of nowhere, a perfect place to wind down & forget about what's happening in the rest of the world. The staff are very relaxed & friendly & the service from the housekeeping staff to front of house to the restaurant... More

By far the best time we had while in Fiji. I can't explain how friendly everyone was and how perfect everything was. They made us feel so welcome and like friends rather than guests. Lots to do, great people. Just a fantastic experience.

The place was absolutely gorgeous! The staff on the island very polite, friendly and easy going. The bungalows clean and spacious, the helicopter-ride totally worth it, the massage huts divine! Just an amazing experience!!! The only improvement they could add is a better restaurant menu, which was quite average. Maybe a little more of local food options and more 5... More

We stayed in a beach front bure at Matamanoa. The view from our room was awesome, looking over the plunge pool across 20 metres or so to the beach. The island is surrounded by corals and as such it's not the white soft sand one comes to expect for the region. I recommend wearing reef shoes when swimming. Snorkelling is... More

This trip was 3 or 4 years in the planning and part of a round the world holiday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. TheFiji part of the trip was always going to be the highlight for us, pretty much as far as you can get from the UK. We chose wisely indeed, with the help of our travel agent. I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Matamanoa Island is an intimate and secluded, adults only Fijian Resort. We are set in the beautiful Mamanuca Islands approximately 30 kilometers west of Nadi International Airport - experience a true gift of nature. The Island boasts a volcanic cone jutting out of the azure waters of this unspoiled marine sanctuary. Clad with native bush and palm trees, the brilliance of the vegetation contrasts magnificently with the white curved sandy beaches and pristine coral reefs. Combined with nature, we have created a haven for those who want to relinquish the pressures of a busy lifestyle. This is for those who dream of peace and tranquility. To achieve this special atmosphere, Matamanoa Island Resort has adopted a year round policy of not permitting day-trippers or children under the age of 16 years. ... more   less
