My wife and I went to Six Senses in Fiji for our honeymoon. We had a really fantastic time there. First and foremost, for some context, the day after we landed there was a tropical cyclone. This cyclone prevented us from experiencing the first half of our honeymoon, and given it lasted for four days also impacted our ability to get to the hotel (you take a boat, but it won't run if there is a cyclone). So we got there two days after we were supposed to get there. The resort staff (shout out to Arnel who I know spent a lot of time and effort helping us out and keeping us updated) was very understanding and we were still able to stay for the original four nights, which was appreciated. The location is spectacular, a private island essentially. Very serene, calm, beach is beautiful. A majority of the staff learned and remembered our names. Mark, the general manager, was very nice, warm, and welcoming. Our GEM (guest experience maker) Sereana was always attentive and helpful. The food was outstanding, mostly served a la carte save for part of a buffet they have at breakfast. We had two massages at the spa, both were wonderful, and Dr. Aju was very attentive and helpful in making recommendations. He also led a delightful yoga class. Gold star goes to Tiko who made our day every day. He was so polite, funny, and attentive. He went above and beyond. The hotel has a lot of experiences, some are included, some you have to pay for (ex. snorkeling outside of the immediately located beach. Which we did. We loved it. Not the best snorkeling we have ever done but really beautiful, good amount of fish, and the reef and remote beach we were taken to were definitely quite beautiful. Hopefully the reef doesn't get worse with climate change and the rejuvenation efforts of Fiji and hotels like Six Senses are able to improve the health of the life at sea, as near the hotel beach there's a lot of evidence of what previously likely a very lively ocean floor). Sami was our guide and he was great. To sum up our experience, we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend to anyone interested in going somewhere where the people are attentive, nice, warm in a setting that is absolutely beautiful and a beach paradise. I have to give some feedback, so I will mention two things. 1.) It is NOT cheap. Be prepared to pay a good amount of money to stay here. However, for USA pricing, for comparison, great value and cheaper than a lot of nice hotels here. 2.) For being and advertising itself as a very luxurious resort, I was a bit surprised about small things regarding my bill and stay that these sorts of places usually handle significantly better. For example, given the cyclone scenario, we did not hire any six senses taxi, we just took the boat. Not sure why that was overlooked and we were billed for it. It was fixed immediately but nonetheless one of a few oversights. Also, although I very much appreciated the resort allowing us to stay for the full four nights we had paid for, it only happened because another couple had visa issues and also were not physically able to come to the resort. Instead of simply upgrading us as a courtesy (which most other hotels would do, especially as I am platinum IHG ambassador and therefore entitled to complimentary upgrades if available), we had to pay the difference in room charge. I didn't complain much given we were grateful to stay, but nonetheless for the money that is being spent I feel that a hotel like this should have just allowed us to stay in their only available room that was for sure going to be empty without an additional fee. In summary I would give this resort a 5/5. The location is superb. Staff and hospitality are warm and so amazing, and the food is very delicious. It will be greatly memorable for any kind of trip. My wife and I highly recommend it, maybe we will be back! :) …
