Leleuvia Island Resort is situated in the Lomaiviti Group of islands, between the historic chiefly island of Bau and Levuka the first capital of Fiji, 90 minutes travel from Suva and away from the more frequented tourism trails. This resort is a relaxing 35 minute cruise, and a world away from the hustle of the mainland of Viti Levu, and the rest of the world. The island itself is incredibly beautiful and sits atop a marine reserve and boasts some of the best snorkeling in Fiji right off the beach. Romantic and completely refreshing, Leleuvia offers you the chance to experience your very own private island and Fijian cultural experience.

Leleuvia is family, food, beach, laughter and best of all, Fijian hospitality at it’s best. We stayed in one of the new en-suite bure’s, the little details such as the art painted on the walls, diffusers and shower supplies are just some of the thoughtful additions. There is so much to do, on our 4 day stay we; - kayaked, paddled (V1, stand up & the 12 man outrigger), sailed on the traditional canoe, snorkeled right off the jetty and helped plant some coral babies and of course all the must-do ‘lazy’ activities, dozing in a hammock and strolling around the island oohing and ahhing over beautiful shell discoveries. Our 5 year old Blake made fast friends with the Dive/activities staff, Bula Jim, Api, Bai & crew! These guys are awesome with kids, very patient 😆 The food, where to begin?! The Saturday night lovo is one of the best we’ve ever had. We’re locals so we know our lovo! Think baked kai and crackling pork, rourou, the works. Live music and a kava session complete the festive vibes. So impressed with the breakfast buffet, babakau (Fijian doughnuts) coconut scones and the fruit + ginger smoothie were a hit. Caffeine lovers rejoice, there’s a hot pot brewing all day 🙌🏽 We had an amazing time at Leleuvia made all the better by a wonderful team of staff led by Colin and Lee. They looked after us like family and in those words everything is summed up. Sota tale. We’ll be back.

Just got around to writing a review from our visit in June 2019! This eco-island is one of the best places to visit in Fiji. The food is excellent, coffee available all day and the accommodation are standard or ensuite ocean side bures, only ten metres from the ocean.

You can walk around the island at low tide, or go through the jungle trail to the "cannibal's cooking pot". Also available is snorkeling from the beach and diving trips.

Access to the island is from Bay landing, just north of Suva, with the crossing taking about 40 minutes.

It was my partner’s birthday and an upcoming full moon and we chose to spend it at Leluvia Island Resort! And we are so thankful that we did. It was the most soothing and wonderful holiday. The staff went way and beyond to ensure that we had a lovely time. As we were the only guests during our visit, the entire team took extra care of us. From the customised food options to the activities - they took take of every detail.

I must particularly thank their diving team who ensured that my partner (who isn’t the best swimmer) felt safe and enjoyed his time snorkelling.

Lastly, this is unlike any other experience we have had in Fiji. As a small sustainable boutique operator, Leluvia island resort manages to deliver a unique Fijian experience which is local, grounded, fun and enthralling - all at the same time.

Response from Colin Philp, General Manager at Leleuvia Island Resort
Responded Sep 15, 2020
Bula Zainab and Aashim, it was an absolute pleasure having you both on the island. It is always great to find visitors who love the local Fijian food options and thank you also for extending your stay. Whilst we do hope you will visit us again soon, we hope you will use this period of restricted international travel to visit the rest of our beautiful country. There are many more Leleuvia's throughout Fiji particularly in the less traveled areas like Ovalau, Savusavu and Taveuni. Vinaka Va Levu

We all know Fijians are friendly however the team here add an addition 10%. Eleven of us stayed for the day trip. Leaving Suva at 9am, it should cost about $40 in a cab to Bau Landing (no meter). At 10am you are on the 60kph boat through the reefs and 45 mins later, you arrive. Return trip is at 4pm.

For 150fjd, you get access to paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear AND lunch. Lunch is summoned by conch... As you do! Free water is available and a reasonably priced bar for a quiet drink. We also got a bit to change in and to keep our gear.
The island is right out of the brochure. Sand, trees, hits by the sea. The paddle board is about 30 mins+ around the island so slip, slop and slap the sunscreen.
If you only have a day or two, then this is it.

Words cannot describe how lovely this island is! We stayed for three nights and spent most of each day snorkeling both around the beaches and on two trips to the outer reef walls. In addition to a huge diversity of reef fish, we saw eagle rays, a moray, a sea snake, and a handful of reef sharks. Tons of invertebrates can be found in the nearshore shallows, including anemone shrimp, hermit crabs, and a variety of snails. Diving was not readily available during our stay, as the dive master was off-island with his family, but the staff at the dive center were very accommodating to make boat trips to snorkeling sites whenever we wanted, for a small price. The office/kitchen staff were wonderful, the included food was a treat, and the bures were comfortable enough with the gentle breezes. There were plenty of hammocks and beach chairs for reading by the waves. The only downside was the very active termites in the roof supports. An umbrella serves to keep you dry during the day and avoid the droppings at night.

Accommodation is pretty basic. No Pool. The food is average. Wifi is weak. The place is very small.

But none of that matters.

You take a small boat from a little l dock not far from Suva Airport. Trip takes 30-40 minutes. Travelling along a mangrove type area, past the old Fiji island capitol (hats off) and out into the Pacific. As you approach the Island the water will start to shimmer with different blues and rich reefs.

The whole area around the island is protected which means you have fantastic corals and fish right there. Put on mask and snorkel and jump off the dock and you are right in the middle of an amazing memorable experience. Plus the beach is beautiful and the people are nice.

Not cheap... but still we have been 4 or 5 times now. If you want a long weekend away from technology this is really hard to beat.

We are finally back on our Paradise island... It was one of the most relaxing experiences!
We've been spoiled with fresh fish, traditional lovo nights, bonfire, free paddling, kayaking, best snorkeling on the beach, the softest sand and very friendly staff. You don't have to go far in the ocean to see the most colourful corals and fishes, turtles, stingrays and even reef sharks.
Leleuvia has much to offer and much to learn. The traditional bures ( better to take an en suite) offers you a very exotic experience. Better to be prepared and to follow all the instructions written in the email Bring your own toiletries, flashhlight, towels..
The diving experience wasn't the best, you could feel the effects of Covid in the most of things.
Hopefully with good managerial hands it can be revived and bloom!
We missed Leleuvia and its people, our hidden Paradise in the ocean! Sota tale beautiful island! 🏝

We stayed there one weekend, it was a great experience. All staff are very friendly and always ready to serve you the best they can. We were a little bit doubtful about the Indian veg food, but the way they prepared everything for us, it was beyond our expectations. Thank you very much
Will be happy to visit again...

We stayed for 4 nights in March '22 and loved it! There were only a handful of guests, so it felt especially low-key and relaxing. We needed to gently ask about some of the activities (they weren't scheduled), but of course they were happy to take us out on the sailing canoe, cut some coconuts, and let us help plant coral. The food was great (although we didn't go to Fiji for spaghetti!) and the bure accommodations were perfect for our family of 3. The coral around the island was great for snorkeling and the snorkel trip on the boat out to the barrier reef's drop-off reef was amazing. As usual with Fijians, if you make any effort to get to know them, the staff are happy to share and laugh with you. As great as other parts were, they were our highlight. With so much happening over the past few years (Winston, Covid, the passing of their long-time manager) we hope that they continue to prioritize and support cultural and environmental protections and support.
