It’s a nice place, with great amenities, but I paid over $600 a night for a room w stained carpet and a worn shower. The shower felt amazing if I closed my eyes and didn’t look around. The grounds are lovely…but at this point in my life, a weekend away from the kids, it’s all about the room. Stained carpet is disgusting and not within the price point I paid for.

We loved our time at the Grand Hotel!! I was there for a professional conference but the hotel had lots of activities for my husband and kids to enjoy — to the point where I teasingly asked them to stop sending fun pics while I sat through my CLE sessions. One day our conference broke for lunch and in a day of rain what seemed like a hundred or so conference attendees all decided to lunch at Bayside Grill at once. The hostess was friendly, calm, and apparently immediately reached out to her management team who re-directed employees from the pool and Fresh Market store to come and assist the Bayside Grill team. We were by the entrance and kitchen and every single employee and manager showed up with a smile and a desire to provide excellent service. They improvised new seating to accommodate the massive influx and did it with all the gracious Southern hospitality for which the Grand Hotel has been known for since 1847. We enjoyed the Grand’s beautiful grounds, the kids loved finding the famed ducks as we explored, and we all enjoyed the fantastic friendly and efficient servers (special thanks Q, Princess, Mary Michael, Lindsey, and Haley 😊) as well as the sweet bellman who were always helpful getting us a shuttle or answering questions. Although my conference is over, we have all voted to come back as soon as we can and enjoy again the beautiful and gracious Grand Hotel and its most excellent staff. Well done, Grand Hotel!!!!

My wife , 24 year old daughter, and I completed a 4 night stay at the end of June. This resort was an answer to our needs in a lot of ways, but does have its limits. Our daughter wanted a beach, and my wife and I were searching for a vacation property that had things for us to do as a family. We had been to Destin and South Padre Island and our preference was beach access without the crowds of typical beach resort vacation properties. We were happy with our choice to stay in The Grand Hotel. First, there is a guard at the entry of this resort. I appreciated the exclusivity knowing the beach wouldn't be overly crowded beyond resort guest. I think the large pools are the center of the resort's activities. There is a family and adult pool that are both large. There is also staff serving drinks and foods while poolside. We learned the resort offers daily refillable mugs for $9, but they are only good for one day, rather than the length of your stay. Expect to pay $3 for tea and soda in a 12 oz cup. Water in the same cup is complimentary and their drinks with alcohol are pricey but good. The on property restaurants in which we dined were quality, and the service was professional and kind. The restaurants, gift shop, and foods to go market/bakery are all located in the main building. We were in the Spa Building, which is about a 5 minute walk from the main building. There are resort transports available but we chose to walk everywhere. The room was large and everything in it was in working order. A microwave isn't standard, so we requested one for our stay. There are no additional fees for it. The exercise room and indoor pool are located in the Spa Building. The exercise room was wonderful for a resort facility. There are resort fees that are a % of your room's cost. Those fees do include kayaks, water bikes, bikes, and beach chairs with umbrellas. There is a "Game Room" but it only has four games. One is the claw that grabs stuffed animals. And, the putting green that is adjacent to the main building doesn't provide putters for adults; only children. I found this to be a little disappointing; my wife and I had bend to our knees to putt. The fun didn't last long. There is also ping pong and corn whole games. While in the planning stages of this vacation, our 20 year old son opted not to go. For him, this was the right choice. The three of us that did visit believe there is an age group that this resort doesn't fit well. My daughter said it is best for young families and grandparents. My wife and I think our son would have been bored had he come. There is only so much for the 17-22 year olds to do at The Grand Hotel. Overall we were satisfied with our stay, but don't feel we will return for a second stay with our kids. WE did visit Fairhope, Alabama for meals and loved the quaint feel of the town.

I have traveled the world, but this property is one of the most unique and beautiful I have ever experienced. The location is gorgeous, surrounded by water, sunset views, stately live oaks with Spanish moss and a myriad of out door vistas, activities and fun relaxation and recreation areas. The food is superb, best ever for conference, both delicious and creative in presentation. Many of our business guests brought family and stayed. But probably the best feature of The Grand is the superb, and rare level of customer service and courteousness of the staff. Every single member of the team, from housekeeping, to waitstaff, to valets, golf cart drivers and groundskeepers literally cannot do enough for you to ensure your stay is terrific. We were there over a week, held a conference, special events, played golf and stayed an extra day just to enjoy. It is so lovely & renewing, we can't wait to come back next year! Thank you to Michael H. & his team for making our stay so lovely!

I can’t say enough about this wonderful hotel. We had an exceptional experience. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds and delicious restaurants. The spa was absolutely wonderful. I really liked the fact that they had a pool for families and one for 18 and over. Definitely will be back.
