It’s very rare these days that something lives up to it’s hype, but The Grand does. We’re a Florida based family and we’re looking for a vacation spot and after initially focused on family resorts in our state came across The Grand. We stayed for three nights in a bay-view room and had the best experience. Our two year old enjoyed riding in a bike trailer while my husband and I rode in bikes all over the resort and across the street rough the golf course community. We spent lots of time at the beach area (chairs and umbrellas are included in your stay!) as well as the pool. We were amazed how quick the food service is at the pool. The food and drinks everywhere were delightful, but due to cost we did venture into Fairhope for some meals. Be sure to take advantage of everything the resort has to offer, from the afternoon tea and cookies, s’mores in the evening, to the beach rentals, or just an afternoon at the pool. My husband spent a morning on the golf course and it was one of the best that he’s been on. The staff is incredibly kind and the grounds and rooms are absolutely stunning. We hope to begin to visit annually!…
As a lifetime Marriott Titanium member with over 1500 stays, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite hotels/resorts anywhere in the country. Exceptional location, service, amenities, staff and overall experience! Visited 5 years ago and it has only gotten better, just a very special place. EVERYONE is so friendly, helpful, engaging, energetic and enthusiastic about making guests feel welcome. Absolutely wonderful!
I visited with my family for two nights this past weekend. As always, the grounds were spectacular and my kids enjoy the pool etc. Our room with two queen beds and one sofa bed is perfect to fit my family and it was quite nice, located in the main building. It was also very cool which is important! I had two issues with our stay which aren't huge. One, housekeeping did not empty the garbage or take dirty glasses and food containers out of our room after the first night of our stay. For such a nightly rate, this should be a given. Second, the pool bar is limited. Again, with the number of people at the pool and the type of resort it is, the bar should be full an able to make anything. To contrast, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee last summer, and were able to absolutely order anything from the poolside bar. Overall, always a fine stay at the Grand, but just a few small things we thought could be done better. …
I called the hotel once and they said it was handled and called Marriot twice to handle the problem, but they didn't handle it. The hotel was nice and my parents have stayed there many times and loved the place, but Marriotet has changed and is very hard to deal with. I used to love it.
The grand dame of hospitality has been upgraded by Marriot but the changes did not diminish the charm. Come for the tranquility. Stay for the sunsets. We love breakfast buffet at their Bayside Grille. For supper, get the roasted chicken or pork belly tacos. The seafood gumbo is different from Cajun, but good despite a paucity of seafood in it. Poolside menu is good enough to not have to get dry and go elsewhere. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. We did not try their upscale 1847 dining room.
Having met Ms. Susan at the front desk as soon as we arrived, I knew it would be a great trip. She was soo very helpful. Our experience at The Grand was wonderful, and we will definitely stay there again. First-class in every area!
Travelled up from Orlando to see friends and to stay at the Grand and had an outstanding time. We stayed in the Spa Building in a Spa Suite and everything was perfect with room. We ate breakfast in the hotel and the buffet is the best we have had anywhere. We also had the pizzas which were very good and had dinner at the tennis club, the food was superb. All staff were very friendly and so attentive in carrying out their jobs. The worst thing about the visit was leaving! Can’t wait for our next visit,
Upon entering our room , directly after checking in, we found, Candy on the floor and in the chair, a dirty sock was left near the table leg. Wadded up trash that missed the can obviously missed by the the cleaning crew as well. Sticky drawer handles . Broken drawers, safe in room did not work, the phone did not work, the sticky card telling us to rest assured our room was clean was scary. The do not disturb sign missing , the cabinet that housed the coffee maker was full of mildew smell and you could see the dust everywhere. Looked as though coke can had Sprayed most of the room. The laminated card on table had been used to kill a bug, the bug was still attached. The carpet was filthy and towels had holes in them. Glass had lipstick on it. The restaurant made me a top shelf margarita, it looked like a glass of orange juice with a salted rim. I can’t describe the horrible taste. The Italian wine was really California wine, When we asked for them to dust and vacuum they obliged, nothing was being picked up as she was vacuuming, she informed us the “vacuum is broken” So we packed up and came home. This was a business trip . My husband and I were to participate in program, but the mold was causing major issues. Did not appear to be getting anything cleaned only made the housekeeper angry at us. Beautiful location, unhealthy to stay there with allergies.…
The location is outstanding. The hotel gets 4 stars. It’s nice but you don’t get 5 stars with bath towels having holes/tears. Our room wasn’t ready at the 4:00 check in and staff didn’t seem too concerned and that wasn’t the only case of staff using approximate times. Food at the hotel was above average hotel food. Staff ranged from indifferent to outstanding. The golf course is beautiful. There’s plenty of entertainment for children of all ages. I wouldn’t recommend The Grand if you want a luxury vacation.. I would recommend it for a families especially golfing families.
Arrived late on Friday night and Cailee at the front desk was beyond accommodating. She quickly and with a smile gave us a very accurate rundown of the property and offered to open up the market for our travel weary daughter. While exploring we stumbled upon Jason at the 1847 bar, they had just stopped serving for the night but he quickly accommodated us and gave us an excellent smoked old fashioned as well as pleasant conversation. We went back to him every night. Great deals on the drinks as well. We will be back!
