I was on a 7-week road trip around the U.S. and stayed here for a night during my 5th week. I had reserved a room in their carriage house. When I arrived, they were setting up for a wedding, and I was informed that they were moving me to a "cottage" across the street so I wouldn't be disturbed by... More

Wonderful boutique hotel in quiet surroundings but within walking distance of down town Mobile attractions. I stayed in the Carriage House in a fabulous room with all amenities right down to a Keurig coffee maker in the small kitchenette. Incredibly friendly and responsive staff. Breakfast cooked to order was especially good and definitely fits the description "gourmet". It's hard to... More

I was doing a 12 day road trip in the southern sates, and stayed every night in a different motel, b&b or inn. My stay at the Fort Conde Inn was definitely the highlight of my trip lodging wise. The house is elegantly restored, my room was more than perfect, and the breakfast finger-licking good

Fort Conde Inn is a quaint little inn in the heart of Mobile, but is surprisingly quite to be where it's located. My husband and I stayed for our our 25th anniversary the last weekend of July. I can't say enough about this place or the very sweet people who are there running it. I'm so horrible with names, but... More

This is a lovely historic inn, with a back courtyard, is a great base for a visit to Mobile . And an extra bonus is a wonderful breakfast made to order. The seafood benedict was a highlight of my mornings, and my carriage house room with a full kitchette with a balcony view of the courtyard was full of southern... More

I stayed here while attending a conference, and could not have been more pleased with this well-restored historic inn. Although I arrived early and expected to just leave my luggage, they were able to check me into my room. The young woman at the desk gets an A+ on warmth, friendliness and helpfulness! She moved me to a first floor... More

I own an inn. Fort Conde Inn met my own exacting standards. The rooms and premises were absolutely spotless. Parking was a breeze. And breakfasts! I have stayed in the best of the best before and have never had such a exquisite choice of entrees for breakfast--everyone of them inventive without being fussy, and delicious! Extraordinary. On the map the... More

I cannot say enough positive things about the staff, accommodations and location of the Fort Conde Inn...everything has been incredible---a great value and a memorable experience I would go out of my way to repeat. I arrived late in the evening after flying in from Alaska and quickly discovered that the reservation I thought I had never really went through... More

We decided to pick up one day after work and run to Mobile. Marriott made it very difficult to make reservations, so I looked for other options. We found this; it looked neat, so we booked. I'm so glad we did. It is a beautiful facility with a fabulous breakfast. I will be back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Fort Conde Inn, Alabama's only 4-star, AAA four diamond rated boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, is a luxurious facility exuding the style and feel of nineteenth century Mobile. Requiring two years of meticulous workmanship, the Inn has now been restored to its original Victorian splendor. Built in 1836, the Fort Conde Inn (Hall-Ford House) is Mobile’s second oldest house and its interior and exterior finishes reflect its architectural vintage from original heart pine flooring and custom-milled stairways, moldings, and window and door trim to marble fireplace mantles, plaster walls, 12 foot ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The Fort Conde Inn, located in Mobile's historic Fort Conde Village, has recently expanded to include four newly restored hisorically certified homes: The Antunez House, the Spear-Barter House, as well as the Blakely and Gonzalez cottages. Walking into the Inn today, is like taking a step back in time to when these homes were originally built. The Inn sits on a quiet street in Fort Conde Village surrounded by Victorian homes restored with integrity and respect for their architectural heritage. It is situated adjacent to Fort Conde, a pre-revolutionary war fort built by the French in 1720 and named after the Prince of Conde, a grandson of Luis XIV. Mobile was founded by the French and the fort protected Mobile from incursions by the British. In recognition of the French heritage of this land, the rooms at the Inn have been named in French after friends and family members of the owner. ... more   less
