Being a Malaccan, i have basically eaten most of the nyonya restaurants in Melaka. This is the place for nyonya food. Some basic intro about the food. Ponteh Chicken-The idea of this dish is the fragrance and the gravy that is nice and mild thickness. This restaurant hits the mark. Their Kangkung belacan dish though looks watery at sight but... My family booked two rooms for our stay over the weekend: Room no. 2 (double bed) and room no. 3 (twin bed). Both rooms have good window view of the Melaka River which provides a nice and relaxing ambiance. The property is just a stone throw away from the famous Jonker Street night market and there are many cool cafes... More

My wife and I stayed for the second time in Heerenhouse: the first time in 2009 travelling only as a couple and this time with our 13 years old daughter. The location of the guesthouse is superb, the decoration of the common areas refreshing, tasteful and sober and the very kind and helpful manager made us immediately feel as arriving... More

Very friendly and helpful staff from my initial internet booking and throughout our stay. I arrived a bit early so ordered chicken pongteh for lunch. This dish has to be cooked slowly to make sure the gravy soaks completely into the potatoes, at which point the chicken should be done too. It was done perfectly in a pleasant aromatic sauce.... Dear Mr. Siddle, Thank you for your kind review of our guesthouse and restaurant. We are pleased that you like our pongteh dish. Please try our asam fish and chicken rendang when you dine here next. The window shutter can actually be closed, there is a 'technique' to it. Being an old heritage building, there are certain 'characteristics' to the... More

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place very much, the service was excellent and the room just amazing! After kind of backpacker travelling through Malaysia before we were really pampered by the beautiful room in the very center of old Malaka and extended our stay up to 5 days. Thank you Ilias for making our stay so unforgettable.

We decided to book the hotel only because of the number of positive reviews the hotel had. At first we were a bit surprised and disappointed as the prices on their website are lower to what you actually have to pay. Our room was a decent size, clean (except for the lamp which was crying for some dusting!). The bed... More

Extremely peaceful, excellent location, reasonable prices. We stayed longer than we planned because of so cozy, beautiful and enjoyable atmosphere. Eight nights with a lot seeing and doing - heritage city center, bicycling, jogging, golfing, etc. Huge plus for so kind staff.

I and my friend stayed there for 3 days. fell in love with it right away. My room has a fantastic Melaka reviser view. The owner is a good friend. He's open-minded and friendly. Heeren House is older than my grandma =) It's over 200 y.o.
