Nestled in a prime historical location, The Majestic Malacca is a favorite for its old-world charm and proximity to the Heritage Trail, Joncker Street, and riverside attractions. Many guests laud the hotel's cleanliness and the professionalism of its staff, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, opinions on value are mixed, with some finding it a bit pricey. While the hotel's amenities and pool size may not impress everyone, its spacious rooms with colonial elegance receive high marks, despite some noting maintenance issues.

Our family group stayed one weekday night on the way to one of the hotel's sister property by the beach. As such it was a very short, but excellent, stay. The hotel is located 15 minutes away by foot from the heart of Malacca's historical sights and traditional shops. On site there is a spa and we made use of the refreshing pool and had local-inspired cocktails in the evening in the residents' lounge. When making the reservation I had indicated that we had a very early start the next day. The hotel was very accommodating, offering to have our breakfast packed for the journey. It transpired that we could leave at 7.45am, so breakfast was laid out at 7am sharp with an assortment of fruits, pastries, drinks, followed by individually chosen dishes from their a la carte breakfast menu. The rooms are generously-sized with very comfortable bedding. This was a comment from every member of our family (we had 4 rooms). Overall this was an excellent stay and we would consider returning with other friends and family, as there is still a lot to see in Malacca. We had arrived on a Monday so some shops and restaurants were shut. We would use the spa next time as well.

An excellent hotel from which to explore the fascinating cultural heritage of Malacca, with influences from the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British. The spa is exceptional, and treatments are very inexpensive. We enjoyed a dinner of local dishes, and an excellent breakfast served at table.

The foyer was impressive to walk into, old colonial furnishings. Staff greeted us warmly and got our rooms sorted speedily. The rooms were large, well furnished and equipped. The bath area is in the room and can be screened off if required. Breakfast is served upstairs and the menu was varied. Food was cooked to order and tasty. We had afternoon tea served in the library - well worth doing. The swimming pool was adequate; .more loungers or chairs would be welcome. Reception was able to advise on places to eat. Thanks go especially to Michelle, Anne and Deepak. It was difficult to cross the road outside the hotel. We look forward to our next visit.

Old school charm, elegance, comfort, service and luxury. Very friendly arrival. Fabulous rooms, with beautiful furnishings, toiletries, accessories and little extras. Perfectly situated for sightseeing Melaka but in a quiet location opposite the river. Really good water service breakfast. Small pool but well maintained area. Friendly bar and comfortable lounge area.

In summary, this is a rather lovely c.70 room boutique hotel with the nicest, professional front of house staff that I’ve experienced in a long time. I’d recommend it as long as you like boutique style. This particular hotel in the Majestic chain has got it right; the Majestic in Cameron Highlands could learn a lot from it. We would certainly stay there again. In terms of managing expectations, the impression I gained from trip advisor and the hotel website was rather different ie the mass of photographs are in fact multiple different views of the same small areas. It is actually a small old frontage and a newish tower block behind joined by a walkway. The reception lobby is small, with three two seater tables and two six- seater tables plus the bar/ bar stools. The pool is a few strokes one way and a few another, and six loungers with a small gym directly by it. Our room looks exactly like pretty much every photograph of every room on the images tab of trip advisor. The traffic noise was a constant hum throughout the night, but it was ok in that it was consistent and dampened to a level that didn’t disturb our sleep by the usual combination of aircon and double glazing. It was just noticeable. A pet peeve; I don’t like toilets with no lock on the door. I really don’t like the current fashion of full or (dear god) partial glass screens and thin voile instead. What I dislike more than either of these is sliding louvre doors; effectively no separation between the toilet and the bed 6 feet away. But I understand it’s a trend and some people may prefer this arrangement. The doormen are largely very attentive, the reception staff are exclusively female, very professional and very helpful. Some really nice touches ie shown to our room along with being served fresh tea by the same person in the room. Room is nice, beds comfy albeit our twin room beds are both small singles sharing one side table. Breakfast was a calm relaxing affair - lovely atmosphere with nice food and great fresh ground coffee on request. WiFi is desperately slow and intermittent.

We visit Melaka several times during the year but this was our first time staying at the Majestic. It’s a famous hotel and deserves its reputation as one of the gems of Melaka. Top class staff who are helpful, intelligent and generous. Bedroom is large with a big comfy bed and big bathroom with great shower. Well stocked bar with smart bar staff. Breakfast was imaginative although I have to say roti could have been fresher - chicken curry was good. An easy 5 star accolade especially considering the very good price.

I went in 25-26 Feb 2024 booked 2 rooms and was sadly faced with the same problems that I had before in 2021 - noises from the plumbing. However, another thing was the pillows had an odour but as it was late, I just didn't use them. The bar wasn't able to serve us what was on their menu, Asahi beer, their signature Gin cocoktail and something else because of no supply. I have visited the Majestic before on several occasions and the staff are always the winning factor in the stay at this hotel. The last time I stayed here in October 2021, I took 2 adjoining rooms. I was disturbed by the noise from the plumbing from the room next to us and heard every activity - shower and toilet flush that the other occupant did. I complained in 2021 but was told that the hotel was full. I just didn't expect to have the same problems again in 2024.

The rooms are very spacious huge beds roll top baths beautifully done in the old colonial style Beautiful view over malacca from the window very pretty of an evening when malacca is lit up . Unfortunately the food let the hotel down Starters were bland & main course the meats were tuff , I received the wrong starters . As soon as the starter was taken they delivered main course. As in Cameron highlands they don’t seem to understand that dining should be an experience to take time over & eat good food . We have been in hotels all over the world we love dining out it’s such a shame this chain of beautiful hotels can’t get the food right . The hotel is so beautifully done out the tiles in reception have been restored it’s a really great hotel experience apart from the food & being told at the bar when we ordered the malacca cocktail NO we have no gin no apologies nothing just NO Was not offered a different cocktail nothing , so we never drank at the bar which was such a nice area to sit near reception in the stunning lobby. However my husband did give in on the last night & we had the malacca Collin gin cocktail which I would recommend trying it was lovely. The staff are all so lovely, lady in reception put in a Wi-Fi booster in the lobby so I could fill out my forms for Singapore . I would highly recommend this hotel .

The moment I enetered this hotel I fell in love with it. This former colonial house has its own charm and is now a first-class hotel: well-decorated and with professional staff. I was very well taken care of when staying here and I enjoyed the relaxing good vibe in the hotel. Definitely recommend to stay if visiting Malacca.

We have been coming here for 10 years(skipping the COVID years) and have enjoyed it in the past very much. We love the staff.. they are lovely. This year our experience was different. 1. To start with the Internet does not work. For work, e-mails, phones etc. If you are planning to work from here this is not the hotel for you. 2. We were back in the room after a 5 hour walk around Melaka, ready for a shower and a nap before dinner when there was an awful racket .. drill, hammer, and what sounded like a jack hammer digging up flooring, coming from the room above. The sound echoed around the room and was unrelenting. After listening to this for an hour we called the front desk and a staff member who sounded like he was doing an impression of Chatgpt, let us know that they were having work and it would resume again at 5 pm. This was apparently in order to accommodate us? To add insult to injury, in the evening there was a tone deaf note left on the table in our room saying that there would be further work done the next day from 11a,m to 5 pm. ( I know the author of that note will be posting a tone deaf response to this comment., As he has done in the past. 3. Perhaps i was mistaken in thinking that when you rent out a room, for a number of days you are making the assumption that you can use the room to sleep in , rest, watch tv, have a shower etc without having your ear drums assaulted. It was not clear to me that I could only use the room outside the hours of 11 am to 4 pm. Perhaps they YTL will reimburse us for not being able to use the rooms for those hours? 4.We have seen over the years the quality of the Majestic decline. No amount of staff friendliness will make up for it, if renovations need to be done, perhaps the professional and decent thing to so is to NOT RENT the room and surrounding rooms for that period. It looks like they are filling the rooms with senior groups on tour who stay for a day and move on. 5. I am extremely disappointed and will not be coming back to this YTL property. I am surprised that YTL is allowing its brand to be so diminished by the present management of this hotel. Will also be telling as many of our business acquaintances and friends of our experience.
