Was tad disappointed with this guesthouse considering the reviews and brief write out by the guesthouse/management. Location was alright but noise level was very disturbing, considering the live band across the road, attempting to sing till 1am or so. Could hardly listen to (any) sound from the television throughout the live music. Thereafter the noise from revelers, and soon enough,... More

If there's anything i learnt from visiting unique spaces, is that a good conversation project is when much of the original is retained, and not remake or replicated. The Stable is one space that still stood true to itself. It was given its name because this is where the wealthy Chinese families used to keep their horses!! Their main house... More

The Stable is something different. It is definitely for those who wants to have a feel of what it is like actually living in the heart of the old quarter in Malacca, during the old days. Furnished perfectly to satisfy our modern souls, its doors opens on to a street rich with culture and history. This two storey shop-house is... More

Visited Melaka (Jonker Street) a few times, and The Stable was a familiar place but never had a chance. And finally booked a night for new year. First impression definetly the welcoming deco and you feel so much comfortable instantly. Very important for me is the bed, and that's two thumbs up. Location is ideal just less than a minute... From the peeling brick walls, the wooden stairs up, the eclectic art and the mishmash of modern furniture effortlessly grabbed my attention. Located in the heart of Jonker, near enough to be part of the action but far enough to not be a bother. I did not even realise it was a two-storey guesthouse. ALL TO MYSELF! Loved everything about... My husband and I stayed at The Stable for 2 nights in July and we really liked the place! The little shophouse was really quaint and the interior of the shophouse was very stylish. The only downside was that the room can get a little dusty from the untreated brick wall. As I have sensitive eyes, my eyes were a... More

Was pretty curious about the place at first and googled it up to get more info. The more I read about the place, the good review, magazine featured, the recommendation, the location, my urge to go and stay at least a night is a must. The interior is beautiful. I love the Malacca old map on the wall and the... More

We read about this place from the Internet and fell in love with the interior at once. The price could be more to the expensive side but we decided to splurge on it anyway since it's our first trip together. The place located just a few steps away from the exciting Jonker Street and Malacca River. Inside the place, it... More

This dinky little place for 2 is situated in the heart of old Malacca and is surprisingly quiet given its position. It's interior designer-owned and this is reflected in the eclectic decor. Lovely comfortable bed, fans, aircon and efficient shower. It's immaculately clean and housekeeper comes each day (at a time you choose). Coffee machine/tea/milk/bottled water/toiletries all provided. The fruit... More

“It's one entire guesthouse to yourself. Talk about exclusive.”

“A lot of shops in the area closed on Wednesday so it is a quiet day, too quiet. There is a 'trompah' workshop next door worth looking owned by Mr Gee. Handmade and onsite adjustment or repair, albeit a bit expensive. Much more comfortable than normal trompah.”
