Sound front, super casual and laid back. Friendly, helpful staff. Don’t let the appearance when you drive up put you off…my daughter thought I had made a serious mistake! It looks like a ranch house, because it is….with two two story wings added behind…..and the docks and sound behind that! They have boat slips if you have your own boat, or charters for sound and gulf fishing that pick you up right there. The wings enclose a huge covered patio area. At the house end there are two large flat screen TVs with lots of comfy sofas and chairs. We preferred to sit at the end closer to the sound, or go up onto the large deck overlooking the sound. Nothing like starting your day with your choice of K Cup while rocking on the dock watching the sky lighten over the sound….with fans to keep you cool. A home cooked breakfast starts the day in a huge dining room with one big table and several smaller ones. Because of the pandemic we got paper plates and took ours outside, and ate looking out over the water. Wonderful! They are also pet friendly, with a very reasonable fee. My oldest cat got very sick right before our trip, and we would have had to cancel if we hadn’t been able to bring him.

This is not a fancy, posh place. It is very casual, clean, comfortable and in a super location, right near the Indian Mound Park and just off the main road and the bridge. It’s on the east end, so close to the fort, the Estuarium, and the ferry. We tried that beach, but found we preferred the west end beach. The west end beach has a lifeguard, bathrooms, a snack shack, and charges per vehicle and per person. Well worth it!

The Inn has rooms inside the original house, and on both levels of each wing. The rooms at the end of each wing face the sound. There are no elevators. Our room was a fairly standard size, not big, with a small bathroom with a shower. It had windows onto the patio area and out the back. We were in one of the wings, on the ground floor in the middle. It was not noisy, although you could hear folks chatting in the seating area, or getting ice from the ice machine, but not so loudly it was a problem.

In addition to the docks there is a huge backyard area, lots of parking with room for boats, and a small play area for kids.

We would absolutely stay here again!

My family just spent 5 nights here and absolutely loved it. We were in room 10 on upper level and enjoyed being able to sit on deck outside our room and we had a wonderful view of the bay. We had a king bed and a twin over full bunk bed. The room was large and very clean. Jennifer did a great job with breakfast and keeping everything clean. The private fishing dock was nice and stocked with everything needed to fish. We look forward to our next stay here.

Planned short trip to NOLA with another couple, wasn't ready to head home and decided to head for over night to Dauphin Island. Lucky to snag two rooms from last minute cancelations. Met gracious host Billy and Julie great recommendations for early dinner at Islander (Fantastic food), enjoyed remainder evening on dock at bnb with drinks and fishing. Casual atmosphere and the hospitality was sincere. Learned they offer fishing charters and have weekend events. Looking forward to return visit.

This is NOT a relaxing B & B. First the owners' family seemed to inhabit every common area in the house. Walls and doors are thin and do not block any noise. Kids were up past 11:00 pm and making a lot of noise. The only southern thing about breakfast was the grits. Grands frozen biscuits, eh scrambled eggs, from frozen potatoes. None of the daughters fixing breakfast were wearing masks or gloves. In fact nobody at the inn were wearing masks or social distancing. I would recommend the Gulf Breeze Hotel. It does include breakfast, but the HH breakfast was NOT WORTH the extra $50.

This is an amazing place to stay. Mrs Julie and Mr Billy are amazing people they both have really big hearts and make you feel at home during your stay as guest/friends . Mrs Jennifer was also very polite . They truly have a nice place for just taking a break from everyday life or to try your luck fishing. This will definitely be a place I would choose to stay as much as I can

Thank you Julie & Billy for a great stay in your cool B&B. We loved the location on D. I. especially in walking distance to the 2 birding hot spots.
Jennifer is such a great asset to your team managing a full breakfast and all the guests needs. We loved cycling all over the island. Y’all are the best kept secret in Alabama! Needless to say, we will be back!

My husband, son (5 years old), and I took a weekend get away and could not have been more pleased! This is our kind of place! It is laid back and relaxing. Breakfast was home cooked, delicious. The rooms were nice and clean. Having the boat slip was a nice addition to not have to take the boat in and out. If you like to fish this is the place to be. They had poles out ready for you to go at any time of day to fish off of the dock. A cooler with bait also provided. The owners are personable and very helpful! Saturday we took our boat out, caught snapper, and came back to the dock. My husband was able to conveniently cleaned them right there with easy clean up. The next day my husband went out on the boat to do some inshore fishing. My son and I took it to the beach. It was a great weekend. We will definitely be going back!

Dauphin Island natives Captain Billy and Ricky provided a 2.5 hour for four of us - 2 adults and 2 kids, age 12 and 9. Ricky shared interesting island history and local stories as we toured around the island and out to the lighthouse. We saw three dolphins up close. Knowledgeable, friendly and professional operation. I would recommend this tour for orienting to the island, seeing the various areas of the island and marveling at the power of nature on these barrier reefs. Captain Billy is especially proud of his fishing tours ... will go back for that another time.

There is a small dog that runs loose in the house. It was very friendly and jumped on us repeatedly. The room we were assigned smelled like Vicks Vapor rub. Tired from the drive we took a short nap from which we woke up sneezing. We pulled the curtain back to look out the window and the curtain and the rod fell on us. The rod was missing an end section and was barely sitting in the hooks. We looked under the bed to see if the missing piece had rolled under the bed. It had not. We saw the area under the bed needed cleaning. We decided we would not be comfortable in that environment. We left and drove to Fairhope where we stayed in a clean and comfortable Hampton Inn for $20 less.

Billy and Julie are awesome people and fantastic hosts! Billy seems to be absolutely dialed into the local scene - fishing, social, commercial and community.

We have stayed in numerous B&Bs over the years and have rarely if ever felt more welcome.

Being able to fish off the private dock out back is just an added bonus.

Strong recommendation! Thanks so much for a great vacation!!!
