The hotel is modern, clean, quiet and comfortable with a great location near the beach and Boa Viagem square. It is easily accessible by public transportation from the airport, which pass by Boa Viagem square. The room in which I stayed was spacious, with a refrigerator, good air conditioning and a hot shower. There was no safe in the room, so I locked my luggage with a lock that I brought with me and had no trouble. Breakfast was adequate. There is a good restaurant right next door, as well as a large supermarket nearby. The beach is a short walk away - it is protected by a reef, close to the shore, which forms a kind of natural pool. The beach is flooded at high tide, but at low tide when the sun is out it is attractive. There are posted warnings of sharks, but as long as you do not cross the reef into the open ocean it is safe to swim, according to one of the life guards. I was there on the weekend and each night there was a wonderful night market on the nearby Boa Viagem square, with lots of food stalls and even live music. On Boa Viagem square there is a tourist office, and stops for bused to Olinda and downtown Recife. Overall, a great place to stay while visiting Recife.

The hotel staff was extremely nice and provided us great service - even going so far as to drive us to the closest metro stop (about a mile) when it was raining because a lot of cab drivers in Recife don't work when its raining. The breakfast at the hotel was decent, better than I expected. But other than that, this hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The mattress felt like a piece of plywood with a blanket on top of it. I even went as far as to look under the sheet to see if there was really a piece of plywood in there but the mattress was in mattress cover and it was too much of a hassle to get it off to verify that it was really plywood and a blanket. The room did not feel clean - the sheets were stained. They probably were washed but just didn't look like it. There was dirt and other stains on the walls. The AC worked pretty well but about 5 minutes after we turned it off...ice and water fell from it onto the bed. So make sure to keep the AC on and move your bed out from under the AC. The room was just very unpleasant and uncomfortable. I definitely would not stay here again.

We had a brief one night stay at this hotel during the World Cup, so we didn't get much of a chance to truly enjoy the hotel and area, but given the weather (bad), crowds, and circumstances, we were very impressed by the service they provided at the hotel. Without delay, they gave us a ride to the metro (no small task considering the traffic and that there were five of us), stored our bags (safely), and accommodated us completely without stress, even with a slight language barrier. The location was great, next to an active square, and the beach is only a couple of blocks away. Our rooms were relatively spartan but clean so you are paying for the service and the location. No complaints from our group!

POSITIVES: Service: In one word - WOW!! So helpful and fantastic, especially those of Diego and Maira. One example: it was pouring on a game day and we couldn't find cabs; Diego dropped us at the metro station in his own car so that we don't run into difficulty. That was in spite of the fact that his was a small car and he faced the risk of the car stalling in the flooded streets. Thank you so much Diego! Location: extremely convenient - two blocks from the beach, a block away from a big grocery store, a block away from the bus stop. Added bonus - restaurant next to hotel (Pitanga?) served delicious buffet. Place was very clean and maintained well NEGATIVES: Price: too high for a two star hotel (seven hundred reals a night for a two bed!). But then, this is most probably due to the world cup soccer demand. Wifi was awful; wasn't working for half the time (we stayed for five days)
