I was there for one night during the World Cup. There were a lot of American and German fans all wanting to see the game USA v Germany. The hotel consist of an older and a newer part.
The newer part seems to be an add-on of a few more floors, as well as a new lobby and breakfast area. The new section is not entirely finished yet. You wonder how they were able to get an operating permit; but this is not overregulated California. You always read about the stadiums (and airports) that were not completed on time for the World Cup. I was in thestadiums of Manaus and Recife and they certainly looked a lot more finished than this hotel.
Anyway, if you need a room during the games, as the saying goes "beggars are not choosers", you'll probably just have to live with it. Everybody is so excited about the privilege of being able to attend the World Cup in person that you won't hear anybody complain.
