Experienced firsthand English style of hotel stay. Was bowled over by the service and the helpful nature of all the staff. The rooms and cottages were so pretty and antique ! Loved the idea of set meals, and am so thankful that they were able to easily accommodate customisations and requests of my children. Would recommend it completely !

I was just part of a group retracing the expedition of veteran journalist Lowell Thomas through the Himalayas. Lowell stayed at the Windamere as well as many other famous explorers like Heinrich Harrer. It was incredible to visit this stunning property and see the rooms dedicated to these and other famous visitors. Don't miss a visit!

I just love this kind of hotel - not to everyone's taste. A relic of times past and the old days! We stayed for 3 nights and 3 of us shared a room in Ada Villa, which was the old chummery of the tea planters way back. The room had a little sitting area before the bedroom, which was tight... More

A colonial property which builds up expectations so high that one at times is left wishing for more. The cuisine and restaurant are what we enjoyed most. The older rooms probably need looking into in terms of the bathrooms / toilets. Service was very warm and hospitable.

It's like staying in a living museum. Just the right amount of old world charm with very comfortable accommodation. The food is excellent and included in the room rate. Probably not ideal if you are a fussy eater as the choice is limited, although they do try to accommodate. The food was plentiful with a mixture of British and Indian... More

Collection of old photographs, letters was good.each wall was decorated with those lovely photos. Bathroom is having victorian tubs with uneasy design. They must do little renovation. It is... More

I can think of no other hotel that represents all that Darjeeling is about - a colonial hill station, a heritage of tea planting, ethnic Nepalese and Lepcha people, and its climbing heritage. With all the old photographs on the walls and in albums, books, the afternoon tea, and the buildings themselves, one is taken back in time. Apparently there... More

The highlight of the trip to Darjeeling was certainly the hotel as the hill station has lost its charm with traffic and bad roads dominating the scenery. The weather was unseasonably foggy and cold in May so we had carried light woollens. Firstly, the hotel is unlike any other I have stayed in so please read reviews and then go.... More

Best hotel I have seen and stayed at. You can experience the feeling of Colonial Period. Fireplace and Candle light dinner is awesome. Market nearby, close to nature. Very good staff and Very very delicuous food. My father fell ill there, hotel arranged food, vehicle, good hospital and everything without any extra charge.Very helpful staff... Thank you Windamere 😊😊
