This hotel is an old palace that has been converted into a hotel. Due to this all the rooms are different. I stayed here for two nights as part of a tour and it was interesting to see how the rooms varied - some were just a simple bedroom with bathroom, whilst others had sitting rooms that opened up onto...

This is the old Jaipur residence of the Bissau royal family, full of wonderful old memorabilia, books and so on. A haven of peace in a very noisy city, with helpful staff, an excellent swimming pool, and a fine atmosphere. We paid a bit more and got a spacious room with fine wall-painting. Wifi is only available in the central...

2006 - i was serenading my girlfriend when I first stayed at Bissau - beautiful property. big rooms - lots of nostalgia from the times of kings and their palaces. Cut to 2016 - back with two kids and family. Everything is the same except for the food. I don't know how can a place like this not find a...

My experience at Bissau was very good. I was given an upgrade as soon as I checked in, as I was the only person staying for a decent amount of time (10 days). Most guests would stay on average 2-3 nights. The staff in the restaurant were just lovely & very pleasant. The hotel itself is old & a little...

Stayed here as part of a G Adventures tour. Hotel was very nice. Rooms just had the basics (no TV, etc), but that was just fine. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant in the hotel was my only complaint. I did get sick, but I wouldn't blame that on the hotel itself, and chances of getting sick anywhere in...

I'd love to sum this up in a single word but I can't. Nonetheless my shortlist would include words like "immersive", "personality", "happy" and "authentic". I've spent the best part of my life on assignments travelling to all sorts of places and my advice (if you really want to get to know a place) is to immerse yourself. Of course,...

We were told by the hotel staff that the original palace was built by the local royal family in the 1880's and the second floor was added in the 1920's. The building is in need of repairs but it's was like stepping back in time into British India. There is a nice bar and restaurant, serving very good meals at...

The main part of this hotel is amazing and a real step back into history. There are a number of reception rooms full of antique items and artworks that were apparently collected by relatives of the current owner. There is also a nice pool and shady veranda area at the rear. The staff are a little slow on service but...

A lovely old hotel with extraordinary friezes throughout. The hotel is in the old town near food and spice markets. It is a small oasis with the clangour of the streets Muffled by trees and a small garden. There is a stall inside the palace grounds run by a man whose family has maintained the decorated walls for generations. Check...
