It’s the tourist central of the city with a liberal dose of rich history, iconic eating and drinking joints and artistic connections that have found prominent mentions in Gregory David Roberts’ Shantaram. Stroll down Colaba Causeway for kitschy street shopping bargains. Take a break at the many laid-back legendary bars & restaurants like Cafe Mondegar or Leopold Café. The vibrant vibe of Colaba is incomplete without the buzz at Mumbai’s most iconic tourist hub, Gateway of India & The Taj Mahal Hotel on the parallel lane. Sprinkled with designer boutiques, quaint cafes with rooftop sea view, the promenade is a popular route to go to Elephanta Caves & Alibaug.

Wonderful staff that are very friendly and helpful! I was having trouble getting a phone delivered by Amazon, and they were so very nice helping me and talking to Amazon. The rooms are clean (cleanest rooms I have had so far on my trip in India) and overlook the harbour adding an incredible view. I 100% recommend!

You shouldnt even call private bedrooms to what you can have in this hostel. The "walls" are just a kind of separation made by pvc. You can throw a love letter from your bedroom to your neighbor's bedroom, if you want. But this is not a problem for me. I am a backpacker and i am not expecting or wishing luxury. But what I like most, specially in this kind of places (where you can find dirty bathrooms, not good beds that all, no furniture, broken windows, rats or whatever...), is a kind of friendship and good vibe. And it was exactly what I couldn't find in this place. The hotel was ABSOLUTLY empty. Maybe one guest more. We were planning to stay for 3 nights and then go to Udaipur in Rajasthan, but train tickets were all sold out, but, by chance, we found one for the same day. It was 2:30 pm when we came back to the hotel and we explainned in the reception what happened and in the end, we needed to leave in that day. Actually they knew before, we talked about this, before we leave the hotel in the morning. And, because check-out time was 12H they wanted us to pay another day and after some conversation they decided to charge us half-day. They know how hard sometimes is to buy a train ticket in India, they were empty, absolutly empty, and they forced us to pay more 400 INR for half day (and in the begin of conversation they wanted 750 INR more). Are they so desperate? I was already in this situation before and this never happenned to me. Sometimes we have night trains and all the time I am allowed to stay longer, no problem! It is exactly is what i LOVE in India. People are normally so nice and sweet! Of course if the hotel was with people I wont even dare to ask for something. But it was NOBODY there...

We were so impressed with this budget hotel. Not only is it in a prime location in Kolaba, right on the harbor and just blocks from India Gate, but it is managed by the nicest staff we have encountered in India. Kumar and his team make you feel right at home and offer great recommendations and just very considerate friendliness. The rooms are tiny--the window side is definitely preferred, but all are very clean and just fine for a few nights stay. The shared bathrooms are also super clean and the showers were hot. Seriously, this place is the best bet in Mumbai. Thank you, Seashore!

Although you have to climb four sets of steep stairs to get to the Seashore Hotel's lobby, we enjoyed our stay there a lot. Rooms and bathroom were spotless (don't be put off by the communal unisex bathroom), staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel is within walking distance from lovely restaurants, India Gate and shops.
