I think your question has probably been well answered. If you are coming by train, look for the Pahar-gang exit, Cross the busy road at the lights & walk straight down the street directly in front for about 5-10 minutes. Its on the left just before the 1st intersection)
If you are just going out by train, turn right out of the hotel and walk up the street to the end & across to the station entrance directly across the lights. There is very little activity in the street at that time so the chances of annoyances are greatly lessened.
Unlike others, I don't think it is a problem to walk- Of course there are always the risk of scammers & annoyances- but that is not limited to this area or even this country. I have spent many weeks here on several different occasions & didn't have any real issues- apart from the rickshaw that refused to take me beyond the station!
Any driver would charge you a disproportionate amount anyway & you would spend more time finding & negotiating than it would take you to walk to the station. Don't be put off by any comments about trains being cancelled or entrance closed etc
Be patient, allow yourself at least 30/40 minutes before the train is due to depart, stay focused on getting to the station, have a sense of humour & you will be fine!
As I mentioned in my review, back rooms away from the atrium are definitely quieter,if you are sensitive to noise but the staff tell me they are also now the most popular, so you might not have a choice. The positive reviews also contribute to much greater levels of enquiries now so the hotel is always busy.(last time I was there it had over 90% occupancy)
The noise comes from other inconsiderate guests- not the area or staff. Staff are generally proactive & I would be confident they would act if the noise becomes intolerable.
The hotel is one of the cleanest I have stayed in in India.
