Nestled at the edge of the jungle, just steps from the beach. Our remote location offers guests the opportunity to truly get away. We strive to be as low-impact as possible in an effort to conserve our natural world by carefully weighing the environmental impact of every decision we make, from the supply chain of our food, to the electricity that powers the resort. We believe the most important tenet of ecotourism is having a positive impact on local communities. A portion of each stay at Casa Cayuco goes towards ongoing projects in our local village.

This is such a dream vacation spot! Even getting there is an adventure, as you have to go by boat or water taxi. The staff were so attentive. Every day, twice a day they came to suggest which adventures would be best based on the weather and let us decide which activities, if any we wanted to participate in. We went to "Monkey Island" and "Sloth Creek" one day. The monkey experience was up close and personal, for sure. We got to hold, pet or feed 4 different kinds of monkeys. We must have seen 7 or 8 sloths at Sloth Creek. We snorkeled in a mangrove area. There were a lot of brightly colored coral, starfish, jellyfish, sea urchins and sponges and even a seahorse! We toured the local village as well and explored a bat cave! The bat cave was so cool but definitely not for the faint of heart. It was a very adventurous adventure. The food was awesome. Very fresh and very tasty. Drinks and smoothies were reasonably priced and also delicious. The accommodations were unique. We stayed in the Loro suite which is bascially open air with just a mosquito net around the bed. It felt like camping. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. On site at the lodge there was a caimen that we spotted several times, some turtles and a sloth family with a baby! For anyone looking to have a unique and adventurous vacation, this is absolutely the place to go! There were a lot of families with kids as well, so it's absolutely family friendly.

Wow, if you find yourself lucky enough to get to travel to this beautiful part of the world, Casa Cayuco is a truly magical stay! My husband and I spent five days here for our honeymoon and it was everything that we wanted. We did stay in the big cabin that had climate controlled bedrooms and the house was stunning! Beautiful hand crafted wooden features throughout with endless porches and balconies to enjoy the stunning view. All of your meals are taken care of here and we were never hungry or disappointed with the food! The best part was getting to spend time with the captains, Jose and Josue, who were both so generous with their knowledge of the local surroundings. We opted to do an adventure almost every day and these were so fun! It was never too exhausting and we generally would get to go out and explore during one part of the day and then spend the second half of the day relaxing on the dock or in hammocks around the property. We also took the kayaks and paddle boards out almost daily and this was a super fun free activity! A great way to get a good view of the numerous big star fish and other sea creatures in the waters directly in front of the resort. Getting to take the meals communally with the rests of the guests was also something we enjoyed and we feel we made some true friends while we were there. Keep in mind that this kind of stay might not be for everyone! It is a very remote eco-resort so not the spot for those wanting to go out to bars or restaurants and shopping during their trip. It is also surrounded by jungle so those who don't like bugs and close encounters with wildlife might not love it! Even though we were in the big house, there were lots of bug friends around which we did not mind. Really impressed with Casa Cayuco's commitment to sustainability, using all solar power and collected rain water and also as an economic support for the local population. We can't wait to go back!

Casa Cayuco was something special. Not just because of the stunning surroundings, but because of the authenticity and simplicity that permeated every aspect of our stay.
The staff were absolutely incredible — warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the lodge’s mission. You could feel the genuine care in everything they did and the personalized touches that made our stay so memorable. They weren’t just employees; they were stewards of the environment and ambassadors of the lodge’s values.
The beauty of the lodge lies in its simplicity. There’s no over-the-top luxury or flashy amenities. Instead, it’s a place that lets nature and the genuine effort of the staff shine. We began to notice the incredibly thoughtful little details after a few days.
The true essence of the lodge wasn’t something you could immediately put into words, but after a few days, it became clear. It was about connection — with nature, with people.

Casa Cayuco is a very beautiful place on the island of Bastimento, where you can enjoy peace, nature, in a very direct contact. The beach is very nice, small, and with a seabed that invites you to observe many starfish, reefs, and the possibility of kayaking and paddle up. The facilities are very nice, respecting the environment and the jungle. The first quality care, from Manager Paola, of the people who organize the excursions, like José, and also at this moment of the Argentine volunteers of Mendoza, Zoe and Mauro. A tip please make the excursion that is included to the community, it is very interesting. It's really been an amazing 4 day experience. A question only to revisit is the prices of the excursions, especially to Cayo Zapatilla, being as close as 8 minutes, the price we consider that does not coincide with the little journey to reach it. In short, excellent everything, thank you Casa Cayuco for the hospitality!

We had a wonderful time as Casa Cayuco! From the moment that José met us at the airport, to Jack meeting us at the dock, the arrival was seamless and very welcoming. The location is beautiful, a mix of Caribbean and jungle, and the facilities the reflect the environment, not chic was mixing beautifully into the environment. We loved our treehouse room with a peak at the sea on one side, and the jungle on the other. The bed was extremely comfortable, the outdoor shower a treat, and there was a lovely place to perch and read. There was plenty of hot water, the the Wifi was surprisingly strong and reliable. We went on a number of the tours they offered which enabled us to learn about the flora, fauna, animals, and particularly special, the local indigenous culture. Casa Cayuco employs workers from the indigenous community, and they were all friendly, extremely helpful, and a special bonus to the experience. The healthy food was abundant, and tasty, including a daily 5 pm snack which we always looked forward to. Jack was a man about "town," helpful, accommodating, flexible, and friendly. We could not have had a more special experience and were sad to say goodbye to everyone.

Our family of 5 recently stayed here and had the most authentic, awesome experience. From the moment we were picked up by boat from Bocas, we were treated like part of the Casa Cayuco family. Eduardo the gm, gave us a tour of the property, introduced us to the staff, and got us settled in our casita for our 3 night stay. We threw off our shoes, put on our bathing suits and jumped right into the clear, warm waters of the Caribbean.

The entire stay was so relaxed, down to even planning activities. We mentioned what we wanted to do and the next morning we were off on our adventure. No formalities or paperwork, just come as you are and we'll do the rest attitude.

Jose, who runs most of the activities was amazing. He is such an integral part of Casa Cayuco, they are lucky to have such a wonderful person. He took us on our snorkel trips, showed us spiny lobsters, pointed our fish, and even conjured up an octopus for us to hold. He brought us fishing and taught us traditional Panamanian fishing techniques,. He even noticed us one evening looking for the bioluminescence, and spontaneously, took us out on a boat with his headlamp and made the ocean sparkle. The kids loved it, I loved it.

This is a barefoot destination indeed.

The food was so fresh and cooked with care. All guests are welcome to sit at a communal table and break bread together. We did and had some great conversations.

The rooms were clean and mosquito nets hung over the beds. Be prepared though, because the rooms do not have screens or glass in the windows and the walls in the bathroom are open all-around at the top. So if you don't care for an immersive jungle experience, then this is not your place. There is no air conditioning, but it does get cool enough in the evenings. It is wonderful to wake up to the sounds of the jungle in the morning. I woke up early, just to listen to birds and bugs and no noise pollution.

The only con- I did not stay long enough.

Casa Cayuco is the most amazing place to stay and would highly recommend this lodge to anyone wanting a memorable holiday experience. The cabins are formed in a little cluster around the central reception and eating area, and yet are very private. The environment has been very well thought out. The staff are wonderfully friendly, pay attention to detail and can't do enough for you. They personalise everything, right down to your name carved on a wooden tag for your snorkel equipment. The food is excellent and served so beautifully, either in the restaurant, in your cabin of at the end of the jetty. The food is of an exceptionally high standard and the best plant based food I've ever tasted. Cocktails are also fantastic. There is plenty to do at the Lodge with boat trips to the local village and snorkeling in the mangroves or you can just relax in the many quiet areas. It was as close to paradise as you can get. The hotel owners and manager are completely committed to their guests' experience whilst being sustainable, eco friendly and supporting the local village community. Would absolutely recommend this lodge and very much hope to return in the future.

Very organized and relaxing. Planning was easy and thoughtful. We received an email prior to arrival to make sure we had snorkeling equipment the right size for every family member. Pick up was smooth and we could tell from first setting foot on the boat that we were in good hands! (Thank you Jose!)

It only got better from there. The surroundings were beautiful and felt intentionally in sync with nature. We always had easy opportunities to participate in an adventure or relax by the water. We enjoyed spending time as a family and with so many like minded families from Europe and the US.

A paradise! A truly unique once in a lifetime experience. We were surprised at the end that taxes hadn't been included in any of the quoted prices for drinks, tours etc nor the room (which I had thought was included) making the stay more than expected.

The place is beautiful, remote and definitely for nature lovers (it is open, there are no glass windows anywhere, instead everything is open to the elements but with flynets on the beds - we knew this going in but perhaps not everyone will) They have free SUPs and kayaks on site with some small coral reefs you can kayak to snorkel around, water around the lodge is calm and shallow and swimmable, and there is an on site jungle trail for self guided walks.

Meals are included (no choice but very delicious, applause to the chefs!) it is one large table for all guests. It can be really nice if the lodge isn't full. I wold suggest when they are full, breaking this up into smaller groups as it can get lively and noisy - and we had deliberately chosen a remote area of Bocas to get away from noise.

We saw caiman, capuchin monkeys, birds, many fish including sting rays, sharks, barracuda. We did one of the group trips to zapatillas which was also wonderful. we preferred not to do more of the adventures on offer as they were expensive, and there was enough to do/explore from the lodge (which is why we had chosen it). The (many) staff are all lovely and from the same two local extended families.

A tour of the salt creek village is included in your stay, and when we were there we saw the village offers their own guided hikes on their trails so we arranged one for pre-breakfast the next day and the hotel provided our transport there. The guide was informative about the flora and fauna and we saw some poison dart frogs amongst other things, which we had really wanted to see. Recommendable.

To us this was a luxury jungle resort, I suppose, there are more luxurious (expensive) lodges out here for those who are accustomed to them. We are not and this really was a unique, amazing experience and was just about affordable for a very special trip.

We stayed in Pelicano, on the beach, we are very glad we decided to upgrade from loro as this really added to the whole experience.

This place and its consept is really authentic. In beautiful nature with nice beach without all the crowds.
We travelled with 2 kids, 4 and 8 years, and this was our last stop on our 3 weeks traveling through Panama. We got amazing and personal approach, could really relax but also enjoy nice adventures organized by Casa Cayuco.
The food was amazing, and all the staff friendly and helpful, even out kids got very comfortable with all of them in very short time and also after we returned home they were saying they are missing everyone from Casa Cayuco.
Simply they created unforgettable memories we keep forever and we just have to say big thank you!

We did not scuba, but there are two reefs protecting the dock area of Casa Cayuco and we snorkeled some there. The water was a little churned up because we had a few storms blow through. We did see a dive boat so we know they are available in the area. There is a nice local walk but we had Jose act as a guide so we would know what's around. Saw sloths and birds primarily although monkeys were in the area.

Alix, All the best breaks in Bocas are a boat ride away from Casa Cayuco, which we can easily arrange. We do have a few good beaks within walking distance of our property but these breaks are more dependent on swell conditions than other waves around the islands. Don't hesitate to reach out, info (at) casacayuco (dot) c o m with further questions.
