Casa Cayuco is truly a hidden gem in a tropical paradise. The amount of time it takes to get there is well worth it. The layout of the resort is great, the staff is nice, food is fantastic, excursions are really fun, and generous drink pours. You can do nothing and lay on the beach with plenty of good snorkeling right there or you can go explore and do a bunch of excursions. Jose is amazing as are Billy and Julia. The meals are communal with everyone else staying there but you can have private meals on your cabin balcony or on the dock if you want. If you're looking to getaway from tech for a while you can do so here, wifi is available if you need it but is password protected. I couldn't believe how remote it was and how few people were there. It was a week in paradise and I'll definitely be back as it's a choose your own adventure type of place where you can do as much or as little as you want without having to worry about crowds. Highlights of the trip were: watching baby sea turtles hatch and go into the ocean for the first time, dinner on the dock under the stars, endless snorkeling, watching Jose catch lobster and octopus, sitting on the dock in the middle of the night stargazing, taking the snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and paddle boards out whenever you want, hike through the jungle and seeing lots of birds, monkeys, and sloths, hanging out on the beach with no one else around. Things I would love to see improved: All of the water sports equipment (snorkeling, kayaks, paddle boards) have definitely been used a lot and have seen better days. It was all functional but it would have been nice for the equipment to be newer. The staff would use their cell phones around the property when they weren't busy which if you're trying to do a tech getaway is a bit counter intuitive and disruptive at times. It would be nice if they had a behind the scenes place where the staff could hang out and use their phones without disturbing guests.

We stayed 7 nights in Tortuga cabin right on the water and wished we could've stayed a year. There is a nice deck on the cabin, but also a nice "living room" right on the water where you can spot nurse sharks and sting rays. Billy and Julia are awesome hosts and are giving back to the local community of Salt Creek. The 3 meals/day and afternoon snack were delicious. Really enjoyed the fresh fish! Beer and wine were free at dinner. There are many books on the local area to enjoy and never cracked my own book. The water is warm and snorkeled for 2.5 hours without getting cold. The snorkeling of the reef right off the lodge was amazing. We did several excursions and Jose, the main guide was delightful and charismatic. Favorite excursion was the mangrove snorkeling with the most colorful coral I've seen. Also enjoyed the baby Hawksbill turtle hatching and snorkeling with the little turtle heads swimming into the ocean. My favorite experience was swimming in the bioluminescence at night with lightening in the distance. Enjoyed the jungle tour and saw sloths (2 and 3 toed), caiman, howler, capuchin and night monkeys. I'm going back!

My wife and I spent six nights in the lap of luxury at Casa Cayuco for our honeymoon, and it was an experience we will never forget! We've traveled the world but have never come across a place as unique as this. The owners Billy and Julia are two heartfelt and thoughtful souls who go went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and fulfilled. Their attention to detail, their passion for adventure, their love of people and their dedication to giving back to the local village and to the Earth left us feeling inspired, with a renewed sense of the good in humanity and appreciation for nature and life itself. This island paradise has a magical quality to it, from the diversity of wildlife, to the unique confluence of white sand beaches, clear ocean water, and rich jungle landscape, to the breathtaking sunrise and sunset vistas. Our 'Pelicano' bungalow on the water's edge immersed us in the relaxing sound of soft waves on the sand mixed with the stimulating wildlife soundscape of the surrounding jungle. We were treated to mind blowing snorkeling opportunities, a swim with newly hatched turtles, a tour of nearby chocolate farm, romantic 4-course gourmet organic and locally-sourced meals, stimulating conversation over artisanal cocktails, and much much more. We couldn't have picked a better place to start the rest of our lives together and will definitely be returning many times over in the future. Thank you Billy and Julia for the experience of a lifetime!

I have two words that describe Casa Cayuco ‘island paradise’. For four days I was able to experience this lovely resort and I plan to come back year. I stayed in Tortuga, which is the hut closets to the beach. There was a queen bed and two twin beds. The property is beautiful, full of the sights and sounds of nature. Billy and Julia are great hosts and the staff are attentive, responsive and willing to help. I can’t say enough about the food; after eating the freshly prepared meals and snacks, I wanted to bring the cooking staff home with me! If you are looking for an ‘off the grid’ vacation with excellent service and fantastic food, Casa Cayuco on Bocas Del Toro is for you. Take a look at the website then send Billy and Julie a note to start your reservation; you won’t regret it.
