There is a terrible stench of raw sewage as the sewage system is overwhelmed. . Is RF dumping this sewage into the ocean? Also- does the resort have an issue with providing water? Why is water only available from 10am- 2pm? No showering, no drinking water? Please ask about sewage issues and water issues before coming here.
The red frog beach resort is top notch. We loved the pristine beaches and beautiful pool/restaurant space. The staff and the food were lovely. Our house was not overly fancy, but it was clean and spacious. We will definitely be returning to this natural beauty in the future.
My husband and I stayed here a couple nights during our Panama exploration trip. This resort and the entire Bocas del Toro area is beautiful! After being picked up at the airport, we took a boat ride to the island and were greeted by the very friendly and helpful staff. The entire resort is accessible by golf cart with multiple restaurants, a beach club and a nicely stocked market. I wish we stayed longer to explore more of the island but we did go zip lining which was a lot of fun! We stayed in a villa that was recently updated and was absolutely gorgeous. Although is was high season, the resort is so nicely spread out that you didn't see a lot of other guests, and it was so serene and quiet at the villa. We will definitely be back; I'm working on booking airfare as we speak!
We stayed in a Jungle Lodge with our two kids of 9 and 11 years. The lodge was beautiful and tasteful and the view mesmerizing. All the space had airco. The beds were comfortable the kitchen well equipped. The service was good and friendly. The one thing that could be better is the advise on tours. We asked for the best snorkel tour but the tour we got didn't visit that location.
We were really excited to get here and have the Resort life for a week. But…the property is not what was expected at all. There is only one (very bad) restaurant on the property, which would be ok if you we not in a very remote place. There is only one other choice for dinner on the beach at La Palma and one other choice for lunch at Nacho Mammas on the beach. Both good places. But after a week, it’s the same food over and over. The resort itself has seen better days. The golf carts they use for guests are fairly gross and dirty and everything costs extra. Bicycle are $55 a day. Ridiculous. To go where? Boat tours are 300% more expensive there too. Go to Selina and book everything there. The resort itself to stay is super overpriced for what you receive, which is basically just a room with no real resort ammenties. …
It wasn’t our first time in Bocas, we decide to have a Bachelor/Bachelorette party here. Our hotel didn’t let us to have a pool party or even a chill DJ, we’re so happy Red Frog did. Everything worked out even better than we expected! William and Mario were so welcoming. The communication was great. Everything was organized very well. Food and drinks were amazing. They let us have our own DJ and photographer. The beach was almost empty, we had a very fun time dancing and playing with the waves. Great experience, highly recommend!
We stayed in the Jungle Room cabins. Our cabina was just okay….we had roaches and the bed had some kind of uncomfortable plastic mattress pad under the sheet. The back porch was nice but the sliding glass door to the porch didn’t have the screen that the other jungle room cabins had. The door was was very hard to slide open. The front desk service was VERY slow and seemed to be very understaffed. I wouldn’t really complain except for the price at over $375 a night was so high that I expected a lot more. I was so ready to leave. On the plus side, the pool at the beach club was lovely. The shower in the bathroom was nice and warm.
My husband and I stayed at the Resort for three nights and three days in late December and had a wonderful time. We had a one-bedroom ocean-view room with private pool. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well-apportioned with a large, double vanity bathroom; refrigerator and coffee maker; ample closet space; and sufficient electrical outlets. The outside patio and pool were charming and perfect for viewing many birds. The pool did not appear heated so we only used it briefly with the ocean water being warmer. The accommodations were quite private; while we could see portions of nearby houses, we felt tucked away. The resort did not have golf carts available during our stay, but the staff were responsive and prompt in arriving to take us from the room to our destinations and back. (The staff were all very friendly, professional, and responsive. They provided a late check-out on our last day and arranged our transportation to and from Isla Colon.) In our 40s and in good shape, we also often walked (even at night, with the flashlight from my phone) and it was on one of these day walks down the hill to the beach that I spotted a sloth. However, as others have written, the property is large and a golf cart would be ideal - and necessary depending on physical ability. We enjoyed the drinks and pizza lunch at La Rosa, the Resort's restaurant. There are nice views of the ocean and it is next to the pool. Service was very good. We had one dinner there which overall was good, particularly the fresh fish entree. The breakfast was average. We preferred the food at Palmar Beach Lodge which was a bit more inventive and where we had breakfast and dinner. We also had dinner one night at Serena; they had a sushi special and we enjoyed sitting at the bar and trying food plus some of their inventive cocktails. The Resort's other restaurant was not open when we visited. The Resort's grocery (next to reception) seemed well-stocked and we grabbed a couple things there but we did our main shopping on Isla Colon when we first arrived at Bocas Town. We were there strictly to R&R so did not do any excursions but the staff are available to assist with scheduling water taxis, trips, etc. We enjoyed a lovely, attentive couples massage surrounded by natural sounds (including rain shower). It was an incredibly restorative, relaxing, and wonderful stay at the Resort, perfect for finishing out 2022.…
Our family of six stayed here for 5 nights over New Year. We had an Ocean View three bedroomed villa which had been newly renovated. It was absolutely gorgeous - the kitchen, bedrooms, bed linen, patio with amazing views of the sea. It was located quite high up so was really peaceful and we frequently passed sloths and monkeys on the way back to the villa. The golf buggy was very handy. Everyone was so friendly - staff and other holiday makers alike. The reception team (special mention to Sergio) were incredibly helpful (quickly sorted out a couple of issues that we had) and the breakfast staff at La Rosa were lovely. We did the zip lining, Dolphin Bay and Starfish Beach tours which were all amazing. We also enjoyed a great dinner over at Bocas Town, again organised through the reception team. We look forward to going back soon.…
We had a 3 bed villa. We were there for two days. There is no water available. Water only comes for 4-5 hrs from 8am to 1 pm. After that if you poop or pee in the 1 pm to 7 am window then good luck!!! You smell it in the villa, no shower or washing hands or any thing during that time. No showers in night, Forget hot showers!!! No water, nothing!!’ Terrible terrible !!!! And poor customer service, no alternative plans or help for customers. I would never stay there…
