When we started planning out very first trip to Taiwan (which we now know will be the first of many) we had no plans to visit Hehuanshan, let alone Song Syue Lodge - in fact we weren’t even really aware of either. The plan was to fly in to Taipei, visit Hualien, then head to Sun Moon Lake and beyond....

Pleasant and comfortable room with sufficient warmth for a snowing night. Went up Mount Hehuan during a very cold winter weekend - although was not able to wander out on foot, the lodge was well-equipped with food and a medical room. And the television programmes made up of funny variety shows (not all hotels had these) to entertain guests. Reception...

Its takes ages to speak to any representative of the Forestry Dept and the feedback on arrival to this lodge is that only ONE(01) person is manning the landline and they have only 8 hours on hand . On sorting out the booking , keys was exchanged after settlement of the room charges #215 & # 217 . Room Rates...

When I check-in to the hotel, the ask me to leave my passport at the counter as "they wanna prevent guests from leaving the hotel without passing back the room key". I told them they don't have the right to keep my passport/identity card, but then they said it's the rules. This's strange, most of the hotels in the world...

I actually stayed here three years ago and it was the only time I stayed in a lodge since I started to climb high mountains in Taiwan at the same time. The experience was so wonderful that I must write a review for it. This is the only lodge around Hehuan mountain area. It is surrounded by the East Peak,...

Song Syue Lodge is owned by taiwan government. since it has a small number of rooms facing mountain that could directly view the sunrise at room, so that it is quite challenge on room booking, it is one of interesting stuff for this hotel. besides, Hehuanshan just got 1 restaurant, if you not staying this hotel then need to take...

The rooms were clean and warm. Checkin was efficient. The dinner option at the only restaurant is not too bad but i would not going for the steamboat. Soup base is blend and ingredients provided is not worth the cost of NTD600 perhead/NTD500 for guest. The best part of staying here is seeing the milky way and sunrise at the...

Chanced upon this lodge in my previous visit to Hehuanshan, but did not have the chance to stay. So when my guide/driver informed me he managed to secured the rooms during my recent 2nd trip to Hehuanshan, I was delighted ! This is Taiwan highest altitude lodge at 3150m ! and with that, high altitude sickness might come as "part...

Accommodation is rather limited around Wuling. Ski Villa only offers Japanese-style tatami floor sleeping spaces in separate rooms. The price (TWD900/person night) includes both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant in Song Syue Lodge - that makes the stay extremely good money for value. Though the quality of dinner is nothing to write home about, the breakfast is actually above...

This is one of the only places you can stay at around the top area of Hehuanshan. It is owned by the government and has been renovated recently. Ask for a room facing the valley, you will get a balcony with an amazing view and will be able to watch the sunrise in your pajamas. Overall we thought that the...
