Total symphatic local owner running a small, modern and very clean hotel directly at one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. The rooms are big, with AC and warm water Great view from the rooms with balkont! The breakfast is great, you can choose between european and sri lanka breakfast. The beach is nearly empty, there are waves, but they look more difficult than they are

We were two couples who stayed 10 nights at this lovely hotel. It’s a small quiet place right on the beach! - A bit far from the action, but if you rent a scooter it’s only a 15 min ride to Tangalle beach and the roads are mostly good. + The staff were amazing! Helped us with booking day trips and gave good recommendations about places nearby. Also stopped on the way to the airport, helping us finding souvenirs at the best places and prices. The even help us with birthday celebrations and arranged on our last night a special dinner at the beach! We were sad to be leaving this wonderful place. All it really miss is a swimming pool due to the big waves in the sea!

The pros: isolated beach, excellent food, good rooms. Sadly there are cons too. As with most of Tangalle sea swimming is impossible due to huge surf. That’s standard but if you like a dip to cool off you will need to walk up the beach and buy lunch at Mandala to use their pool. The worst aspect is this place remains a building site. Like so many smaller hotels here it could be paradise but is spoiled by easily correctable problems: finish the buildings; don’t start coconut cutting at 7 am ( the sound WILL wake you up every day); sound proof the upper floors (the noise for the ground floor was very loud); the staff point blank refuse to serve dinner later than 7 (very unprofessional); the staff hang about next to your table very awkwardly while you are eating (staff training a priority); no free drinking water; poorly stocked tea/coffee; stained towels; I could go on. None of this stuff is hard to fix. Disappointed.

We are a family of 3 from Austria and stayed in the little Blue Ocean Resort for 6 days in the beginning of January 2017. It was a wonderful stay, Aruni (the owner) welcomed us very kindly. The rooms (only two of them!) are new and very clean, and exactly as on the photos. We stayed in the bigger room (for 3 people). We had a huge double bed and the third bed was in a separate small room. The WIFI speed was pretty good. The hotel is right on the sandy beach and has its private place on the long beautiful empty coast line. The location is wonderful. You can walk along the beach for hours and hours in both directions. The food in the resort was incredible! Ajith cooked really good for us. Every morning he told us about the catch of the local fishermen and we ordered what we liked! It was the best food we had during our whole stay in Sri Lanka and it was even one of the top highlights of our two weeks trip on this island. This place is really great for people that look for a very private and quiet place, far from civilization but very close to the beautiful nature and friendly people of Sri Lanka.
