Detailed Reviews
We spent 2 nights at the Wild Grass Nature Resort during our 8 day tour of Sri Lanka. We loved it. Each room is an individual villa with large windows looking out on a lake. There are larger villas that can accommodate a family or 2 couples travelling together. Our villa (Villa Shikra) had a deck across the front with a table and chairs where could relax and enjoy the view. Each villa has wifi and TVs with a good selection of channels. The staff, including the hotel manager were very friendly and helpful.
We had breakfast included during our stay, and it was prepared fresh with local ingredients. We also ate 2 dinners at the resort and they were outstanding and reasonably priced. The second morning, we had a monkey in the tree next the restaurant watch us eat our breakfast and small crocodile swimming in the pond below. It is a great place to enjoy nature surrounding the hotel.
On our next visit to Sri Lanka, we will definitely stay at the Wild Grass.

We love the view from Shikra! And glad you felt the same! Glad to hear that the staff were helpful. They really bring out the best in our resort. The crocodile is back! Lovely to hear that. He definitely isn't shy but harmless nonetheless. We truly hope you do stay with us once again. All the best, The Wild Grass family.

After having spent many hours on busy roads from Colombo to Sigiriya, arriving at the Wild Grass Nature Resort felt like arriving in the paradise. The luscious green all around us with bird and wild animal noises made us feel so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our villa was spacious, very clean and provided stunning views towards the jungle and the lake beyond. We opened the doors and let the afternoon sunshine and nature sounds fill our living room - it was just wonderful.
The wifi connection in the room was very good.
The breakfast was served in the restaurant on the first floor overlooking the gardens, and it was à la carte - we were served fresh fruit, fried eggs, a selection of bread and pastries, and some jam. Wild Grass Nature Resort was the only hotel throughout our two week stay that didn’t charge extra for the coffee which was great !
The staff was incredibly friendly, polite and always very helpful.
Overall we had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Wild Grass Nature Resort and would recommend it to other travellers as a good choice when visiting Sigiriya and the Lion Rock.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. We appreciate that you have taken the time to share your experience with us. The sounds of the jungle are so relaxing and something we all miss when living in cities. Glad you also enjoyed the food. Our chefs are very proud of their food and we hope you enjoyed their Sri Lankan cuisine in particular. Coffee is an essential ;) so why charge extra! We genuinely hope to see you back in our little resort once again. And wish you the best. The Wild Grass family.

We had a good feeling about the resort even prior to our arrival.
Hakim, was super friendly and very cooperative in terms of giving out all the necessary information. He was also very prompt in answering messages pertaining to the booking and nice enough to recommend the type of accommodation we should go for.
The manager, Mr Nimal was kind enough to communicate with us before our arrival. He was very responsible to check with regards to our meals on the given day. His welcome was warm, friendly and he made sure at very instance to make our stay very comfortable. Mr Nimal was also very concerned about our safety on the way back home and made it his responsibility to call and check with us to ensure that we had arrived home without any hassle. He is also very knowledgeable about the organisms that one could see and hear at this wonderful eco resort.
Ruwan, provided us with the utmost service at the restaurant. He was super conscientious. He made sure that all the dietary needs were met. Ruwan, was extremely friendly and was kind enough to share his expertise in relation to the locations we should visit during our stay.
The resort had an abundance of nature hidden within the premises itself. The sound of birds from the crack of dawn until the end of the day, friendly visit from the monkeys around forest, a wonderful hike to a rock to experience a breathtaking view of the landscape surrounding the premises, a beautiful lake with a myriad of biodiversity.
The food was very fresh, great presentation, full of interesting flavors and the portions were just the right amount!
We had the opportunity to meet Samitha a wonderful trishaw driver who took us to see one of the attractions close to the resort. He was very responsible and helpful guiding us through.
Our stay at the ‘Minivet Villa’ was very secluded. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The villa is the furthest from all the other villas and the restaurant. We were very lucky to have stayed there.

Thank you for your glowing review. We are thrilled that you had a memorable experience at Wild Grass. We strive to give off our best, right from the first point of contact till the end of your stay. You have taken so much time to describe the warmth and hospitality of the team, and the abounding nature and beauty of the place for which I am most appreciative. I do hope you will return soon to Wild Grass to take in more of the unspoilt nature that it is immersed in, the food and the tranquility, as well as the luxury of all that space that just a few people at a time get to enjoy! All the very best from the Wild Grass team.

A place where you can sit among the tree tops and be one with nature. The chalets are spaced wide apart and thus you are guaranteed absolute privacy. All vehicles can be parked right in front of each chalet which was an advantage for a forgetful individual like myself. The walls were glass windows. Therefore we allways had a view of the trees and the thicket surrounding us. The shower is outside and can be bit of an issue if it rains. The meals were delicious and made up for the somewhat inexperienced waiters. Rice and curry as well as a selection of western meals were available. The rooms had been cleaned as per covid protocols. All in all a place I would love to come back to.

It’s my second trip to Sri Lanka and I am so glad I found this hidden gem! I have loved my stay at wild grass. The villa was huge, minimalist, refined, tranquil with all the essentials I needed.
The balcony perfect for a relaxing beer, reading a book or simply meditating or sitting with the sounds of nature around you. Showering outdoors as tropical rain poured down or stars shone above was great. Wifi was good. I saw monkeys, birds, frogs, turtles even a chicken in the grounds. The perfect place for an escape from life, that you may never know you needed so much and may find yourself considering staying for a life in the tropics once you realise you did. A handy base for exploring rocks, ruins, mountains, rice fields, village life and more without too much travelling time. Recommend to hire a driver/car for your stay as it is a bit remote so this gives you freedom to go as you please. Staff were super kind, attentive, caring and helpful and ensured I had everything I needed during my stay even with our super early 4am exhausted arrival! We did miss traffic and sites along the way and it was a pleasure to wake up from that long travelling day in such a nice place but if a long drive after your flight isn’t your thing consider a night closer to airport first and head up next day if your flight arrives late. The meals we’re delicious and high quality, you must have the curries and the sri lankan breakfast 🤤 Nice pool and everything was clean, tidy, extremely diligent to covid protocols and mainly outdoors so low risk in that respect given the times we find ourselves travelling in. The bonus of that I was privileged to stay at a time when the resort, the island itself was having only minimal tourists so don’t waste time thinking about it book your stay as soon as you can get here and take advantage of that luxury as this magical island can be busy sometimes. A bit sad to be changing places tomorrow after such a lovely stay in the tranquil calming surrounds of wild grass but look forward to a trip back and pleased to be able to recommend it to others and thank all the staff that looked after me during my stay!

We spent a fantastic three days in this hotel. A holiday in the holidays. The hotel consists of individual villas, built in complete nature. The stylish and spacious villas have huge windows permitting an almost 360 degrees immersion in greenery. A real break away from the rest of the world. We could see nature from our beds: monkeys and magnificent birds. Although we did not see them but elephants are also regular visitors at the property- not surprising given its pristine location. The staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort. The food is excellent. Better order in advance. This combined with the fantastic Sigiriya sights (including climbing the adjacent Pidurangula) made it truly a memorable stay. A clear highlight of our visit to Sri Lanka!!

The best way to visit the cultural triangle and Sirigiya. Located in the middle of the forest, villas are open to explore the wildlife. It is quiet, clean, safe and interesting. And ignore jeep safari offered by numerous companies in the area - instead ask your hotel for a bird watching walk and spend your time there.

My family and I stayed here just 3 nights of our 3 week holiday to beautiful Sri Lanka. Wild grass nature resort was spectacular, everything from the rooms to the staff to the food. We felt so incredibly welcome here. The staff would walk with us to and from dinner, they were always very friendly and warm and nothing was ever too much to ask. When we arrived we got the choice between 2 utterly breathtaking houses both with amazing interiors and exteriors. One night, one of our family members wasn’t feeling well and Nimal and his wonderful team catered for us from the comfort of our own room. We thought it wouldn’t be too elaborate however, Nimal and the waitering staff brought over the entirety of the set menu which has around 5 courses then proceeded to set the exterior table up, like they normally would do over at the restaurant. They catered for us superbly as alway, we were beyond impressed by this! We also got the opportunity for a guided walk up a near by hill to watch the sunset, which made for a truly magical and special evening. The attention to detail that the staff at Wild grass have acquired is top notch and it made for the best stay I’ve probably ever experienced in a hotel. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience and stay, we wish you all the very best of luck for the future.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Wild Grass Nature Resort. Our room had panoramic views onto the jungle, and was set in a beautiful, standalone building that was incredibly private and really made it feel like we were right in the middle of nature. The room was furnished very nicely, with a very comfortable bed, and everything was very clean. The food was delicious - we had a lot of traditional Sri Lankan food, which was superb, and there was also great Western food available when we wanted it. We were there for New Year's Eve, when the resort put on a delicious buffet with a live band, which had a great atmosphere and was a lovely way to see in the new year. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We can't recommend the place enough - we had a magical stay.

We spent an amazing 3 nights here with our two little boys and had a wonderful experience, it was the perfect super chilled spot for us to retreat to whilst spending the days visiting all the amazing sites of the cultural triangle. The two bedroom villa we had was incredible, literally in the middle of nowhere with nothing but nature and peace for company. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and the chef was incredible. After a month of travelling I think we could say this was some of the best Sri Lankan food we ate. The cleaning staff left beautiful decorations in our room everyday... so many small touches. It was heaven!

This is the most disgusting hotel, I have ever been to. Will pm u some amazing hotels names , clean and not like that in Sri lanka .
We booked through a travel company - place to place travel.
Hi
Its an o'some place. My best holiday in sri lanka.
Paths were clear n well lit but might find leopards & elephants passing by at dusk so u have the option of calling the front desk from ur room to send u a buggy or can borrow a cycle.
There is a room service menu. Even the restaurant did a very good job. never tried their cocktails but they serve alcoholic bev.
About 30mins drive to Lions Rock. Local restaurants & pubs are also available within the area.
Recommend to climb Pidurangala also. Its got the best view.
Have fun!!
