We loved our stay here and the location is wonderful. The caretaker was a pleasant guy who did a great job and the food was oh so good! We had dinner there as well and it was yummy, well presented and were huge portions. It’s located super close to Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks so it made our morning hike very easy. The chalets were clean and were spacious. Would visit again :)
my wife & I chose this rest for a sudden weekend getaway (one night). Reached there in the evening. Luckily we had time to climb the Pidurangala rock. The view was breathtaking!!! MUST VISIT. 5 mins drive from the rest. convenient! Then next day early bf & climbed Sigiriya rock. Again 10 mins drive. The caretaker was very helpful. Kudos mate! Not much of a food choice but tastefully presented. Cottages were moving for the strong winds.
We booked five houses for 2 nights through our agent almost 5 months earlier, received 3 written confirmation from them , even called on the way from bus that we are coming. After arrival there were non of the houses availible for us. They double booked them through the booking.com. and told us they had forgetten to let the booking.com know that they are full. So they preffered guest from the website not to get bad recomendation from them. We were with no hotel in the middle of night with kids. On the other hand their curry is great.
We had a really great time at the Thick Forrest! Absolutely recommendable! The treehouse was very comfortable, very clean and very big. It is situated in the middle of the forrest - so you have nature all around you (the sound is amazing!). From there you can walk to sigiriya rock or pidurangala rock (chose this one! the view and the climbing experience is amazing). There are also some bars and restaurants which you can reach by foot if you want to chill with other travellers. But please - you have! to eat in the Thick Forrest! The Curry there was absolutely delicious and ritch in variety (best pumpkin curry!). Also they put tables in the middle of the jungle so you can have your dinner next to a cosy fire while you have the sound of the dschungle around you (also very romantic for couples!). The breakfast was also very delicious (try the coconut-honey mix!) The employees there where always more than helpful and very friendly. They help you with everything (drivers, where to go, etc. ...)! I really would like to go there again!…
