The Lake Hotel is pleasantly situated by the large Polonnaruwa lake and well away from the crowded tourist area. The low buildings are ranged along the lakeside. The buildings and rooms are adequate but in need of brightening up; they seemed to me rather past their sell-by dates. However the room and bed were comfortable enough. We only had breakfast...

We loved the absolute tranquility of the location of this hotel! The bird sounds and serene views were heaven to us city dwellers. It's quite a small hotel, but everything is very neat and clean, and seems to be carefully maintained. Do request for an upstairs room as they are more spacious than the ones downstairs, the lack of a...

In overall, the room was okay, the view from the room was very beautiful. And, the swimming pool was lovely. It was close to the main sights. But, after a long day, we had dinner in the hotel restaurant. There was no choice but buffet. The price was around Rs 1800. But, there was not many choices.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you very much for the review you have published and we do appreciate your comment but regarding the diner buffet our guest all ways has the second option of having selected dishes from our A'la cart menu witch serves different dishes from different cuisines.

The restaurant is situated at an amazing location by the lake and a small but nice swimming pool and restaurant overlooks the lake. Perfect place to be at during sunset. I would give the food 7/10. But the location and the atmosphere is a 9/10 while the price is just a tad too steep

This is the second time we visited the lake Polonnaruwa in the last few years. The beauty of the place took us back there. Set on the side of the Parakrama Samudraya it is indeed beautiful. Staff are very nice and the place very clean. However the food was not up to expectations. Poor menu planning and no taste at...

You need to arrive in a car with driver, snacks and extra water as the hotel is in an isolated location. The staff are efficient, friendly and very helpful. The pool is lovely with views across the lake - we saw elephants coming to the far side lake edge in the late afternoon. Monkeys are numerous so it's important not...

The hotel has an amazing view and sometimes you can see the elephants in the distance. The music (piano) is nice during the first hour of your stay but after 2 days your getting cranky... you don't only hear it in the lobby; it's everywhere! In the restaurant, the poolside, you van even hear is in your room. Repeat mode......

The location of this hotel is something special, right on the edge of Parakrama Samudra. We had a couple of hours to kill before visiting Polonnaruwa and sat by the pool watching elephants on the far side of the lake, which was so special. The room is a little run down – but large and clean with a great will...
