The most emotional I have felt EVER in leaving a holiday! This family treats you like you their own member. I felt like I was one of their daughters :) . Superb home-cooked meal-that I was craving for throughout my rest of the trip. Ms. Karuna - she is like a mother <3 and Baba (Gayatri) who is so hands on and friendly- god! bless her AND Prashadika- we were so close that we went on our own trips in the evening. CROSSED A RIVER for the first time. She is the awesomest person I know. While I volunteered at the Pinnawala elephant orphanage, my highlight during the trip was Suwani stay! I will go to Srilanka again just to be with this family :) SO CLEAN, SO LIVELY AND SO HOMELY!!
I went to this hotel with my foreign friends when they came to see elephant orphanage. There were good facilities and hotel was so much good in condition than I expected. Good location. Very close to Pinnawala elephant orphanage as well as Pinnawala zoo. This hotel price was sri lankan 4200 rupee for one night. It was budget price compared to other hotels nearby Pinnawala elephant orphanage. Dont forget to eat foods here if you are foreigner. They have so tasty Sri lankan foods with good sri lankan taste. We had breakfast there. Specially foreigns liked that taste alot. Parking space available. Rooms are clean. Beds were in good condition. Washroom facilities are good and clean. Owner and staff was so much friendly and welcome us with nice smile.
Take time to talk with the family members who run this home stay. So welcoming and friendly. The rooms were spotless, the water was cold and waiting for us in the refrigerator. No mosquito nets were offered but we didn’t see a single bug. Perhaps the elevation? Location very close to the elephant orphanage.
Everything about the homestay was lovely, but we were particularly impressed with the way they treated our friend on her birthday. The family organized a cake, snacks, balloons, sparklers and even bought her a small gift and a card!! We had tea on arrival and a scrummy breakfast of coconut roti! I believe the homestay can provide an evening meal but we left this too late so ventured down the street to a local (one of the only) restaurants! The homestay were able to arrange transfers for us, both from the airport and to our next destination. All in all an absolutely wonderful stay with an incredible family 😊
We didn't know what to expect on arrival but soon settled into a most welcoming 2 night stop at this Homestay. The family living downstairs are delightful and you are made to feel like an important guest, given privacy but always available. We were the only guests staying which considering the value and location seems hard to believe! The room was clean and beautifully Sri Lankan. The large kitchen/dining room on the same level was well equipped and a small seating area with comfy settees made for a lovely end to the evening. The owner's wife made us a curry on both nights of our stay. Both different and equally delicious, beautifully laid out and certainly provided enough to eat! Breakfast was typical of Sri Lanka but that's not to fault it. The location is excellent for the elephant orphanage, being a short walking distance away. Finally, a taxi was arranged to take us to our next stop.…
