This was the last trip we made for the year 2018 and it was the worst hotel we ever being to until that date. Visited during the month of December 2018. Rooms were nice and perfectly arranged. Food was very average. Staff was ridiculous. No service at all. Not recommending to anyone.

We choose this hotel specially due to it's location & the nice views shown in different websites. We arrived to the hotel around 3pm & as soon as we arrived, we were bit shocked as it looked like a construction site. We thought we arrived to the wrong place. There was no reception or any hotel staff to be found. Entire reception area was under construction (tiling etc.). My family members did not even got out of the car. I went & checked with one construction worker worker whether the hotel is closed. He directed me to the temporary reception which was located one floor up. No elevator too & we had to climb the stairs. The entire reception area was with full of dust as tiling work was going on in the down stairs. Once we arrived to the reception, we found that our booking was not there. Finally the receptionist had to call the Perfect Holidays agent & found that they forgot to send it to the hotel. However it was handled & we were given the room & a bell boy escorted us to the room. As soon as we came to the room, we rushed to the balcony to experience the nice beautiful views shown in the pictures. That is where the main disappointment started. Our room view was an ugly backyard of the hotel & there was an ugly excavator & a pile of corroded iron rods (which may have been removed from the ongoing renovation project). We immediately called the reception & told about our dissatisfaction. They showed us couple of rooms but none of them had any nice view. Finally we decided to move to a room on the 3rd floor which was just above the originally allocated 2nd floor room. Around 4.30pm one staff called & inquired about our dinner & he said there is a set menu. When I checked what is in that, its only chicken fried rice or grilled chicken with french fries. I checked whether there is any fish option available & was told that only chicken is available. It looks like that the hotel has decided that we are chicken lovers & therefore we all must eat chicken. It was a very basic dinner with a tiny appetizer, a cream of mushroom soup, main course & the dessert. Dessert was fruit salad with ice cream. Since it was rainy, windy & cold day we asked whether there is any other dessert options as none of us wanted to eat ice cream at that moment. But no such thing available & the kitchen was also closed by that time. Therefore finally only myself had the fruit salad which was with melted ice cream. The next nightmare started when we went to the room. Though they says there is hot water in the room, practically it is non existing. Almost 30mts we kept the hot water shower opened but no hot water. Finally we ended up in having a cold water shower in a rainy cold day. We wanted to have a hot cup of tea & we thought there would be tea / coffee provided in the room. But there is only a kettle & no tea / coffee provided.

We visited this place last weekend to rest & relax after being in lockdown for months. This place is being renovated & there is absolutely no way you could use the pool because workmen are every where. When we entered the premises we were in shock & at first thought that we had gone to the wrong location. Because we had to climb up broken steps & were taken through a passage, it felt like we were on a treasure hunt. Once we checked the rooms we were relieved because the rooms were clean & quite nice. No welcome drink by the way so don’t expect anything of that sort even though you have driven close to 4 hours. So dinner was our first meal & we expected a buffet because that’s what was promised. But Lo & behold! They said that since they’re renovating no buffet but gave us the choice of Spaghetti (no meat or fish with it) & soup or fried rice, chop suey with chicken & papa dam & for desert it was chocolate mousse. I must admit that it was quite tasty the first day. The following day, Monday was an utter disappointment & the only conclusion that I arrived was that the cook was on leave & the bell boy cooked instead. The food was tasteless & we asked & were promised omelette for breakfast but were served fried eggs. The dinner was tasteless. Don’t expect complimentary coffee or tea that isn’t given here neither can you expect to walk around the grounds because there are workmen everywhere with their equipment so it’s impossible to move about freely. Neither does the WiFi work properly. If you want to eat good food & relax plus take a stroll because you need to unwind, this isn’t the place for you!

We booked this hotel for 2 nights/3 days on the long weekend in the Month of March, just before the Corona pandemic hit the country. This review was long pending as I had to make some time to list out all the pitfalls in this place one by one.Easily the worst hotel I've been to anywhere in the world and the lowest review score I had ever given to a hotel on trip advisor 1) From the outset itself it was all chaotic...the front office staff kept confusing the number of rooms we've booked and each staff member, arriving for a different shift, kept calling me to verify the number of rooms, which was all different from the original plan. They had no clue about the Child policy or their policy on extra beds and so on and kept blaming the previous guy who called, calling him a trainee and responsible for the confusion. 2)We were never served the Welcome drink even though other guests and foreigners were served.Their excuse was that we had to proceed to have our lunch before the buffet closed,so they avoided serving us the welcome drink to save time.I mean how long does it take to serve and consume a welcome drink anyway?? 3)We immediately regretted our decision to even come here when we saw the so called lunch Buffet..No salads/soups or buns....Just some Fried rice,Chopsuey,Chicken Curry,Dhal,Potatoes and papadams. With Ice Cream and Jelly as Deserts. When I showed my displeasure at the restaurant manager, they quickly brought some Chicken soup, margarin and some buns to try and compensate for the sad lunch they served us.The whole menu which was available could have been packed on to a rice packet which costs 200 Rs in the streets 4) The AC in our room wasn't working and we had to sweat it out with 2 kids till around 9pm,when they finally managed to repair it.What was worst was, the AC was already broken from before and still they gave us this room knowingly and inconvenience us,without being honest about the broken AC. There was no extra bed in the room as we had paid extra and confirmed before arriving.Instead they managed to find a foldable bed at around 9pm,which was 7 hours after our arrival. 5) The Dinner was rubbish as well and that's when we decided to book else where for our 2nd night as we really didn't want to stay here in this dilapidated hotel with crappy food service. 6)Everyone in our group was disgruntled about the standard of service ( lack of standard rather) after seeing the sad breakfast buffet they served and wanted to vacate as soon as possible. So after a few calls,we checked out and went to hotel Suisse, which was a marvelous hotel with good service. 7) Even our driver was not happy as there were so many bed bugs in the drivers quarters and he had slept overnight in the vehicle. The meals served to drivers had been horrendous and he had ask for money from me and eat some thing from a restaurant in the town All in all,I've never ever experienced such horrendous service in a hotel in Sri Lanka.better to close it down for sometime and sort out the issues, before even thinking about serving customers again
