What a lovely guesthouse with lovely hosts to welcome us. Pathi was always helpful and organised especially when we went to the Perahera procession. Nothing was too much trouble. The guesthouse is in a lovely quiet location and they give you lots of well cooked home from home food. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable

Up, up, almost touching Budha's feet! :) After a long drive up, 12.30 at night, we got there. Thank God for Ravi, our driver, otherwise I don't know how we could have found the way! There are road signs, don't worry, but you need to know the region. Anyway, we got there and were met by the owner, Pathi who... More

The two of us spent three nights at Hanthana House in August, and could not fault our stay. Ten minutes from the noisy centre of Kandy, Hanthana House enjoys a quiet location easily accessible by tuk tuk (one will pick you up from the station when first arriving). Rooms were clean with extremely comfortable beds, the bathroom had hot water... More

We stayed at Hanthana House for two nights in July. The room was large with a comfortable bed which had a good mosquito net around it, even though we saw few of them. The bathroom was a good size and again clean. The cooking was delicious and we are great curry both evenings. Patti was very helpful with suggestions of... More

We loved this place! We booked for 2 nights originally but booked an extra night as it was so lovely. We had 2, very large rooms, on the top floor, with a balcony going all the way round affording great views, and a large sitting area outside. There was also an inside seating area by the 2 rooms. All very... More

I recently stayed at this lovely place in Kandy & this was the best most comforting hotel in my whole trip. Spend four days here & it worth millions ! The amazing home prepared food by Suba (Pathi`s Wife) gives a best selection of srilankan spices and a traditional taste. Its no point just staying there and not having their... More

Nice, value for money accommodation with very warm owners. You also see a different side of Kandy from here.. Would definitely go back here.. But do remember that it is a bit of a drive up in the hills to get here. Also remember to understand what meals are included in your deal. But th meals are also worth having... More

This is my third trip to Kandy and to Hanthana House which is situated some 5 km and a 400 Sri Lankan tuk tuk trip in the hills outside Kandy. It is a family run home that offers good basic accommodation with AC, Wifi and truly excellent Sri Lankan cooking and the house has developed and modernised over the years... More

My mom and I stayed at the Hanthana House last year for 2 nights. This place was our favorite accommodation of all we had in Sri Lanka. The rooms are so pretty, very clean and tidy. The view is beautiful. But the best part are Pathi and his family! Pathi's wife prepared us a passion fruit drink upon our arrival.... More

Please be aware that a homestay is neither a hotel nor a guesthouse as you live and socialise with a family in their home. Think of it as an extension of your own home, with the usual creature comforts and no-one to make your bed or clean your room on a daily basis! The real experience is the interaction with a Sri Lankan family as they go about their daily life. ... more   less
