Cute boutique hotel, ideally located, a quick walk to the temp,e of the tooth relic, the lake, the shopping mall and downtown Kandy. The decor is lovely, modern, rooms decorated tastefully with all the amenities you could need in your room. We were lucky enough to have a room with a small balcony that looked out over the hustle and bustle of the streets. Note that due to the proximity of this hotel to the temple they do not serve alcohol nor do they permit you to bring alcohol on to the premises. Room was clean, friendly and helpful staff who helped us with local dinner locations and grabbing a tuk tuk for us. Breakfast was simple and basic but all you needed to start the day. Would highly recommend this quaint little gem in the middle of Kandy.
We stayed here during the curfew. The manager and the staff looked after us so well and made us feel at ease. The location is very central and easy access to the temple and the lake. The hotel is beautifully decorated to very high standard. We stayed in the garden suite and the plunge pool was a delight. What really makes the place is its amazing staff. We will definitely visit again!
Late post: Visited The Radh for a coffee. Service was as always quick and courteous. The place had the Christmas decor up for the season and it was by far the most beautiful decoration I had seen in Kandy. I keep visiting the place because of its calm and quite atmosphere.
We stayed 2 nights at The Radh hotel during our tour of Sri Lanka. We had a room on the last floor. The room was clean, spacious enough given the size of the building, with a small balcony, comfy bed and clean, modern bathroom with separately packed toiletries and nicely smelling soap. Loved the tea provided in the room. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, responding to all our requests, including a breakfast package due to our early departure. The stationary breakfast was tasty but we would expect more choice and coffee was not as we are used to in Europe (not so strong). As we didn’t use the restaurant service nor the spa, we cannot give opinion. We chose the hotel based on its location, literally 5min walk from the temple of the Scared Tooth, and next to the Kandy lake, which is a great 4km loop for runners. Beware though of the trees surround the lake, full with birds, that can hit you with an unwanted surprise… The Radh is also close to all other attractions and shops, 5min drive from the train station, and 10 min walk from the Shopping Mall, where you can get good selection of international food on the last floor. Negative: the hotel does not provide accommodation for private drivers, which is a common practice in many hotels. And 6am wake up by ceremonial drums from the nearby temple……
The location of the Radh will be hard to beat - just a few minutes walk from the Temple of the Tooth...the staff are reasonably welcoming and the room is clean and tidy...however slightly let down by the fact the bedside light was hanging on by the wire - to their credit it was repaired after I reported it. The TV was not so easy to work and they should look to getting it all working on one control rather than 2 separate controls! The restaurant was disappointing for dinner with a fairly limited choice and the feeling that you are eating in the entry corridor - the buffet breakfast was tasty although once again everything is set out in the corridor!
Centrally located hotel , minutes walk to the Tooth , banks , lake etc The most comfortable bed , efficient and friendly staff . Excellent breakfast….try the freshly made egg hopper. Two minor issues - spa not in operation the day we would have liked ( but it was a Sunday near Sri Lanka New Year ) and it was a little dry ;)
Our room was nice: expensive for Sri Lanka but in-line with Western standards. Pros: Room and beds comfortable. Staff was courteous and well-meaning. Location is really good and reasonably quiet at night (unless the Buddhist drum ceremony wakes you at dawn) Cons: Breakfast was a meager buffet and quality was not up-to-par for this level of hotel. We didn't eat dinner here, mainly because the breakfast was so disappointing. They had to deal with power outages and had a generator (usually) working to fill in when the power was cut. However, their quirky lighting system meant that each time this happened, the room lights would go on. (This is funny only for the first couple of times it happens in the middle of the night. Not so much after that.) Overall, we were happy we stayed here. But they could easily make improvements to their breakfast--which I see many others on TA have complained about--so I wonder why they dont?…
The Radh is 2 minutes' walk from the gate to Kandy's main tourist attraction and site of Buddhist pilgrimage, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, which is flanked by the beautiful Anglican Church of St Paul on one side and the town's lovely lake to the other. This is the area for culture and tourism and the Radh could not be better located. It is fresh, new, vibrant with modern, well-appointed rooms that are a cut above the corporate standard. We did not try the in-hose Japanese restaurant, but breakfast was excellent and service throughout was top notch.
The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are pretty small which is understandable for center of town, but they’re clean and updated. I’d recommend for a night because of ease of access. I wasn’t impressed with the restaurant. We had breakfast and dinner there and the food was not great. I’d recommend going elsewhere for food
We had a wonderful stay at The Radh! We stayed there for one night, coming from Sigiriya, before leaving the next morning with the famous blue train to Ella. The Radh is a real treasure in the middle of the city! The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect being literally 200 meters from the Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth, and very close to the train station and the departure of the blue train (15 minutes by walk). We will never forget the excitement we felt when we arrived at the hotel. Beyond the extremely warm welcome from the team, we were truly amazed by the magnificence of the hotel - believe us, this hotel is a little piece of art! Of course, the rooms are fantastic! We had the chance to stay in their Garden Suite with private indoor pool which is extraordinary! If you are looking for a moment of relaxation before the long train ride to Ella, this room is for you! Food is excellent, and we highly recommend you to try their High Tea Platter, which is one of the best we have tasted during our trip! As frequent travelers, we are used to visiting many hotels around the world, and we can assure you that if you are in Kandy, The Radh is worth the journey - clearly one of the best value for money in town!…
