We stayed here for one night, and paid the RAK rate because we were running out of options. For what you pay the experience doesn't equal. The rooms are average standard, bathrooms are clean. They don't put hand towels in the bathrooms which is strange. The breakfast was average. Nice views. Friendly staff. We did however have a lot of...

Hotel is located on top of the hill overlooking the valley. As we had our driver with us throughout our stay, location was No problems. Otherwise, there is a long walk downhill to get to the lake & Temple of the Tooth Relic. There are lifts to get to the rooms. Well maintained rooms and all with balcony. Balcony my face...

Serene Garden is just what the name suggests....Serene! Perched on a hillside with a view of the valley below, it is unbelievably quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is very good with a choice of continental as well as local breakfast including rice and spicy chicken curry which would please expat as well as local palates. However, Beware of the little monkeys...

This hotel is on a hill overlooking the lake although our room did not have a view. The hotel was however clean with a beautiful hanging garden. The food was expensive like any other places in Sri Lanka. For a non vegetarian meal it costs around 1000 INR. The breakfast spread was really nice. The swimming pool was OK but...

Very welcoming and friendly hotel. Positioned on a hill, with a restricted view of the lake. Rooms fairly basic, but clean. Only complaint would be some old stains on the bed sheets. Very good Sri Lankan breakfast.

Hotel is refreshing, clean, calm and serene :) Food was good, rooms very comfortable. Quite homely I would say. UNTIL The Monkeys Come!! Remember to lock doors and windows if not the monkey will definitely pay you a visit and ransack the rooms. They went through our bags and ate up all the food we had as well. I am...

We only stayed one night but that was one night too many! On the positive side, the staff were generally friendly and went prompted they did there best to make up for the shocking state of the hotel. As for the negatives:- Small pool too cold to swim in even on a hot day. Hotchpotch of rooms on different levels....

This hotel is in a nice elevated location, it is an old building and has been renovated to some degree but does not provide hairdryers, shampoo, conditioner. Small rooms with nowhere to open your suitcase. The food was below average, drinking water has a cost, tea, coffee etc. for consumption in the room is strictly limited. Walk in clients pay...

We only stayed one night at the Serene Garden. Our package included the evening meal and breakfast - so sampled a variety of the cuisine - all satisfactory. The restaurant sported a local folk band playing round the tables - all very romantic, but arriving late as we did, we were more focused on eating. Our room was nice, we...

We were on a 2day trip to Kandy from the coast. The hotel was booked by our guide and was fine for the time we were there. The food was fine as far as I was concerned, and I thought the salads particularly were tasty. Husband went swimming and the pool was quite cold. Internet connection was very slow when...

Serene Garden Hotel is situated within walking distance of the city centre and overlooking the serene Kandy Lake. Above all these things, something unique about Serene Garden Hotel: its ambience is serene and the experience blends with the unique enchantment that Kandy serenely weaves in the mind of the foreign traveller, as it has done for centuries. From Serene Garden Hotel, it is walking distance to the Dalada Maligawa (The Temple of the Tooth) across the road from the Kandy Lake.
