A 100 year old property owned by the then chief of the village and 'govi raja' - Paddy King, an honour bestowed by the government. This property has now been expanded upon to create a nature health resort. The hotel is a specialist Ayurveda / Yoga retreat with 8 rooms set amidst a 30 acre plantation of Rubber, Coconut, Cinnamon, Black Pepper and numerous vegetation, fruit trees and paddy fields. The guest experiences are personalised - each guest will be met by an Ayurvedic Doctor on the first day of their arrival who will plan their diet and ayurveda treatment plans which will be administered during their stay. Majority of the food served to guests come from our own organic gardens surrounding the hotel and daily yoga classes will be conducted to compliment their therapies. Treatments range from general relaxation / destress or detox to the cure or prevention of paralysis, cancer, piles etc. Whilst most guests come for just a relaxing experience or to loose weight or detox, we have had some guests with serious illnesses. Additionally, cookery classes, meditation classes and day trips are organised to allow guests to experience life in rural Sri Lanka.

One of the most relaxing places I have ever been to. You go here to unwind. This is a retreat with Yoga and Ayurvedic treatments and the most delicious Ayurvedic food. The staff are locals and some international teachers too. Everybody makes you feel welcome in the most sincere way (not like in the US where everybody is trained to do fake-smiles all the time) No, this is real. The rooms are simple but very comfortable. Everything is nice : Very elegant, modern and vintage, black and white, traditional and western style are perfectly blended. I have been here several times and I will definitively come again . . .

I came at Plantation villa to spent a few days of quarantine (April 21) and I didn't even wanted to leave... I was lucky that at this time it was almost empty and the staff had plenty of time to take care of us individually.
First, the place is absolutely gorgeous and super quiet as you don't ear any noises except than the birds. There is a wood in the backside of the land in which you can meditate or just go for walks. Yoga classes are very professional and the teacher has strong knowledges on the yogic philosophy as a way of life. Everything in this place makes us feel relaxed and at peace. The harmony between Nature and Plantation villa is insanely beautiful.
Ayurvedic treatments and massages are the best I've experienced so far but quite costful. Rooms are fine but if you're searching for luxury standards, it is not the right place. Same for the food, quite basic and no options but if you want healthy and ayurvedic meals, it's here !
Amazing atmosphere, real eco-friendly hotel, if you're an Earth lover you'll be at home 👌

It’s an amazing place to travel solo. Everything is planned for you: yoga classes, meditation sessions, meals, activities, treatments, etc. You don’t need to think about anything.
*At first sight, food may seem peculiar, especially if you are not vegan, but it’s def very healthy and light. I’m not even a vegetarian, but I ate everything and was never hungry. Actually, I was amazed with the meals for all of them were made of simple ingredients. Fresh fruits, juices, and herbal tea were especially great!
*During free time, you can chill by the pool, chat with other guests, go to the beach by tuk-tuk, walk in the village, read a book, or take a car and go to explore other places. I only went to the beach twice, once to the nearby waterfall, and once to the town (Kalutara). Tbh, I didn’t feel like traveling to further places. However, if you wish, everything will be arranged for you.
*As for accommodation, I had a single room which was brand new and served me very well. I didn’t have any insects inside. I had an AC, but mostly used a fan during the night. They clean the rooms daily.
* My original package had 5 days and some complimentary treatments. I added 3 more days to make it 7 full days without the days of traveling, and I think it was a smart decision. The treatment, tho very limited in my case, were amazing. I had full body massages, face masks, steam bath, and one face massage. If/when I go next time, I’ll certainly book a package with more treatments.
* Keep in mind that the villa is located basically in the jungle, so there are high chances to see wild life, like monkeys, dozens of monkeys, monitor lizards, geckos. I saw a snake too (they said it wasn’t venomous). Birds are amazing. There were some mosquitoes, especially early in the morning and later in the evening, so grab some long sleeve shirts for yoga classes and meditations. As I said, I had no mosquitoes in the room. Overall, all animals are very peaceful and never bothered me.

I went to Plantation Villa because it came recommended by two of my friends. My plan was to rest and detox. When i got there i learned so much more about ayurveda and how it works with the body that i upgraded to the Panchkarma treatment. The healing process that my body went through was profound, but i was only there for 6 days before leaving to travel Sri Lanka. I vowed to go back at a later date in the year. But then ..... corona virus hit Europe and Sri Lanka started to act very quickly. At that time i was in the North of Sri Lanka in quite an isolated area so i emailed PV to ask if they would take me back and if i could continue with my treatment while i reorganised my return home.
They said Yes! I continued my Panchakarma treatments and remained for another 3 weeks in a very safe, supported environment. Plantation Villa works with the body and the mind through yoga and meditation. It is a rounded treatment supporting a wonderful philosophy. I highly recommend it as a place to go to start to detox your body and be educated in a healthier lifestyle.
Enjoy!
And my deepest gratitude to PV for being there for me over the uncertain times of the COVID-19.

I cannot recommend the Plantation villa highly enough. I went on the mindfulness package and this place was the balm for my mind, body, and soul that I needed. The grounds are so well kept, stunning beautiful, and alive with wildlife and a huge variety of trees and stunning flowers. The rooms are just gorgeous and very clean. The staff is simply wonderful, everyone greets you with a warm and genuine smile everyday, you can tell everyone loves working there and why wouldn't they as this place is just paradise. The food is so good and I felt so healthy and revived after a week of eating so clean. The local village is wonderful the people are just friendly and welcoming and there are wonderful walks in the surrounding areas. I have to make a special mention of the yoga teacher Miranda who was the best yoga teacher I've ever encountered. She has such a calm, gentle, and kind energy and I enjoyed the yoga classes so much because of her style of teaching. Also, Bernardo's philosophical talks were wonderful, he is so well-read and informed on Buddhism and it was great to have such deep and meaningful conversations. A final mention goes to Ishara the owner who is such a kind,open-hearted, wonderful lady who made me feel right at home at plantation Villa. I feel that I came home to myself after a week in Plantation villa and I will definitely be back.

It was my first solo trip-retreat, and I'm so glad to have chosen Plantation Villa. Everything from the moment I arrived to the time I left was perfect.

I had four blissful days of fresh air, clean vegan meals surrounded by genuinely lovely people and constantly serenaded by an orchestra of nature sounds. I have come here seeking for knowledge and rejuvenation, and I left acquiring more than that. I brought home a restored body and mind, and a greater understanding of yoga, meditation and the Sri Lankan culture. The room was basic but clean and comfortable; I enjoyed sitting on the patio watching birds and seeing squirrels running about. If you're used to being in cooler climate, I'd suggest staying in the rooms with AC as it can get quite humid at times. And when it rains, it's lovely.

The meals were vegan and healthy, different everyday and although I'm not a vegan, I felt fulfilled and didn't have a problem accepting/enjoying the food served. The yoga sessions conducted by Bernardo were different - slower yet spot on, incorporating the essence of meditation. They were light and certainly suitable for beginners, so don't let it hold you back from coming even if you've never done yoga before. Bernardo is very passionate about Plantation Villa and the village, was always keen to show us around and I have learned so much about Sri Lanka from him.

Come with an open heart, curious mind and humble intentions, and you'll reap lots from the experience. The only thing I wanted differently was, I wished I have stayed longer! Next time, for sure! Best bucks I've ever invested on myself.

Had a great and relaxing time in Plantation Villa. The staff are very kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean, beautiful and comfortable. The treatments are very good. I did the detox package and for me that was sufficient.
Dr Erandi Gunathilake took care of me and I am very happy and thankful about it. She explained everything very well. She is knowledgeable, kind, caring and calm 🙏🏾 She gave me great tips for back home too!
What was also extremely valuable are the yoga and meditation classes. Selina is simply wonderful!

People there came from all kinds of countries and were very friendly. I can absolutely recommend it.

It is difficult to get there and away from there. So people are dependent on the transfer. It is really pricey and so I used an app to get a different transportation. But this I cannot recommend! Taking the service from Plantation Villa might be pricey, but it is worth it!!! Much safer than the Pick Me app.

Only downside - there is quarry nearby which creates quite some noise. But it is not that bad.

The Plantation Villa is a nice place to relax and get in touch with beautiful nature. The treatments they do are very good for the mind and body. The yoga classes where also good and the outdoor shala is a very nice location to practice yoga. If you want a stress-free place to enjoy your holiday this is a very good choice.

The food is served three times per day and it is very good. Everything is organic and tasty. Especially the breakfasts were delicious.

We had a standard room and it was very clean and nice. We got to sleep very well because the place is so quiet and the room is dark enough.

The staff is wonderful with a lot of hospitality. They are always smiling and they will help you with everything.

If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, I can highly recommend The Plantation Villa.

I stayed in the plantation villa for two weeks. The rooms were beautiful and the area full of trees, birdsong, monkeys and a pool: just magical, pure nature, harmonious. Just the surroundings had a calming effect on me. I really enjoyed the two weeks and felt balanced again afterwards. I also learned a lot about Ayurveda and Sri Lanka. The treatments are great and tailored to your needs!
I especially enjoyed the massages. Afterwards I always felt very relaxed. The staff are very helpful, friendly and open. I also enjoyed a lot the yoga classes and meditation. And the food was fresh and delicious.

In addition to the treatments, there were also cooking courses, guided tours through our own fruit and vegetable garden and meetings to talk about Ayurveda and yoga.

I learned to listen to my body and its needs. Now I'm one week back home and still keep my routine.

I can only recommend this magical place!

A hidden gem in Sri Lanka for anyone who is longing for a recharge and fabulous holiday. Daily routine begins at 630am with yoga, and ends at 630pm dinner, with many activities planned within the day from talks, meditation, plantation visit, sharing of better well-being practices. The team is friendly and helpful, from room to dining staff, big thanks to Bernardo and Dr Ani, Roshan for making my stay a very memorable one. The meals are all prepared from farm to table style, serving a variety of vegan dishes. The yoga and meditation classes are always so calming and brings good vibes to the body and soul. I look forward going back soon.

Hi Irina We normally dont take walk-ins...but if you want to come one evening and join our class we can arrange it. The best benefit is really absorbing all of what we offer holistically than just attending a class - but you can get a feel for what we are about and perhaps come to stay with us another time. HI Annabella, I am so sorry you had a bad experience. For me - even though the food was not perfect - there was such beauty about the place, such integrity, so much kindness, and love. All the members of my group there felt and loved it. When I felt the food was too high in carbs I just asked for fresh veggies and I received them. The staff were only too willing to accommodate me, and I was pleasantly surprised with lovely steamed veggies. I will agree that the DOshas were not particularly considered, but we could pick and choose what we ate to some degree. When I said there was too much sodium and too many carbs, - thy cut down drastically. I had severe back pain and the therapy staff could not do enough for me, sometimes giving me two or three treatments a day.. and helping me walk when I couldn't. We had a substitute yoga teacher - and we made the all the all the best of it. He tried very hard. ON days when I couldn't do yoga I swam 50 labs at 5 am, with all the monkeys, birds and chipmunks waking up to paradise. The meditation instructor led us in a beautiful powerful letting go ceremony that I am still remembering with fondness. We each make our mark on the world in our own way. Some things don't suit some people. I have friends here who I would not recommend Plantation to because she would want champagne a balcony and spa in her room . It is not a 5 star retreat - it is a place of healing, where people come to let go .....
