We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, the rooms were not ready and we waited for quite a long time, albeit on sun loungers. The hotel staff, especially the reception, are polite, cultured, they speak Russian poorly, but you can conduct a dialogue in English, they always try to help and answer all questions, they smile sincerely - the impression is excellent. Hotel employees do not beg for money, but they do not refuse tips. Cleaning was 2 points on a 5-point scale, but it didn’t matter to us. When they asked to replace towels or add something to the room (for example, they forgot to put water or toilet paper), they immediately corrected everything. The furniture and renovations are not very fresh, but nothing fell on your head and the furniture did not fall apart, it was simple, but neat. Air conditioning and fans are in every room and working. There is a safe, however, the setup instructions in Russian and English are different and both are not entirely correct (this also played a negative role in the future). The hotel area is small but neat, there are sun loungers. The ocean is 20 meters from the hotel, the beach has no infrastructure, everyone swims at their own risk (as the sign warns about when leaving the hotel). There are cafes on the beach and in front of the hotel, very inexpensive and tasty. There on the beach they sell all sorts of things in several places, such as coconuts and clothes. You can also buy excursions there. In front of the hotel there are tuk-tuks (not advertising: I recommend Santo, although he is not very presentable, he is extremely polite, speaks a little English, if you ask for something, he will do everything, and he will change the money himself, and show beautiful places, and takes you where you need to go, tells you everything along the way and shows you everything - he ended up being an extremely positive man). There are almost no strangers on the beach, except for merchants and a few rare passers-by from neighboring hotels. Quiet, calm. There are even some kind of discotheques on site in the evening) Breakfast is standard: eggs of all shapes and types, chicken, fish, sausages, bacon, coffee, tea, fruits, vegetables, sweets and a bunch more. We weren't hungry. Lunches and dinners were not taken. Strange things: they offered us to move into a villa for a day for free, we agreed, they said that everything would be organized in the morning, we packed our things and waited, in the end they never moved us. What it was, we never understood. Negative: upon arrival, I didn’t immediately take care of the safe; the money in my wallet was in a closed drawer in the bedside table. While I was sorting out the safe, periodically forgetting about it, of course, $200 and cigarettes, several packs that were lying in other shelves, disappeared from my wallet in two days. I didn’t file a claim because... I realized that it was useless, but I didn’t want to ruin my vacation. To sum it all up, by hiding the money in the safe you will get a wonderful holiday in a good hotel with polite staff.

GOOD HOTEL
We checked in quickly, the room was a little tired in appearance, but it didn’t interfere with our rest. The area is large, they clean it every day, but leaves still fall from the trees. The food is ok, there are fruits and cakes and meat. Local tuk-tukers for 300-400 rupees take you for fruit, beer and souvenirs. Beer is sold only in alcohol markets, and they also take it there. Don't throw away empty bottles - they give you a 100 rupees discount on beer😀

The guide Sami works next to the hotel - he’s a good guy and takes you on excursions and prepares delicious shrimp and fish for lunch and takes you to the store in the city😍he has a table on the shore and there he sets it especially for you❤️

Excursions are naturally cheaper than those from a tour operator, and the level is the same, he speaks Russian. And he can take you wherever you want, he won’t deceive you - well done guy. If anything, here is his Whats App +94 77 843 8922

You can buy coconuts there on the beach, I took them from Pasha, you can bargain for 150 😀he’s also a good person, you can go shopping with him in the city, he can show you where to buy something.

The beach here is not very good, there are waves all the time, but you can go by train to Bentota, Induruwa, Hikaduwa. There are cool beaches there - blue lagoons!

Stayed here for my two weeks quarantine. The locations was great with a pool and next to the beach! The food was really good with a lot of different options! The staff was really helpful with arranging everything needed before and during the quarantine.

The only downside is that the hotel is old with old furnitures and a strange smell in the bathroom. However since the room is cleaned everyday and with ok price when including food it's a great place!

It's a shame that whoever owns this hotel doesn't love it a little bit and make some minor improvements. The staff, by and large, are wonderful and attentive and very friendly which was lovely. The rooms need a lot of refurbishment and work. Linens are very old, dull, and yellow. Bathroom was dirty as were the floors. Basic maintenance isn't being completed and there's mould, rust, and scale deposit on fixtures, etc. that could easily be remedied if management cared a bit more about the property. The pool is very large, has a nice view of the beach, and it's warm. The beach is gorgeous. The restaurant serves very good food - you cannot say anything bad about the staff at this hotel. I did raise a concern with management via our travel agent (Olanka Tours - avoid if you can) and they refunded $60.00US which I'm guessing is the cost of one room (we had two in total for one night). And while I appreciate that decision, one wonders why it was necessary at all? They have an incredible location and they need to focus on the basics - would never consider staying here again. Had we been staying for more than one night, we would have left.

This beach resort has two pools and a a huge restaurant. When we visited them, they had given a special package rate and for this rate everything was very reasonable. All the two days we had all three meals were buffet. The General Manager Mr Nicson was always very attentive and looks in to guests needs and he made our holiday a special one.

I have the best 14 days here in this hotel despite being in quarantine. I had the healthiest foods here and the fruits are my favorites because they were the local ones which are so delicious. I love the fact that I didn't have the feeling that I'm being locked up in a room as this hotel has a beach which gives me the whole Sri Lanka, the island vibe where I always enjoy the sunsets.
The staffs and the managers are so helpful and so kind that if I don't come out for meals they are worried and reach out to know whether I'm ok or not. It's my best decision that I chose this hotel to stay here in this hotel for my quarantine.

Hibiscus Beach Hotel and Villas was a great place to stay while I was doing my quarantine at Safe and Secure Level 1 hotel in Sri Lanka. Beautiful property with direct access to the beach, 2 swimming pools and a nice garden that’s always well maintained.

The room is nice with stylish furniture, a balcony with a view + tea/coffee facilities available 24 hours. Nice breakfast area - very spacious! I loved the food here - it’s quite authentic Sri Lankan, which is one of the reasons to visit the country.

Stuff is friendly and helpful + always available to assist and answer all the questions and concerns. Special thanks to the management / reception to Mr Shyanaka Munasinghe and Mr
Оcean Morayes + the entire stuff!

Overall it was a great experience to stay here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay again in future. Thank you, Hibiscus Hotel for having me!

We checked in quickly in accordance with our preferences, the staff were all very polite, they cleaned us daily, the food was a buffet, and there was a lot of choice, we even had ice cream every evening. In general, after reading the reviews here, I expected the worst, but the polite staff and the stay at the hotel itself were beyond praise! The only thing I didn’t understand was why, with the ocean nearby, there wasn’t more seafood for dinner besides fish (and once crab). This is about the hotel.
As for the spectacles. Our guide from the tour company during our 11-day vacation never (!!!) showed up to meet us. But we were not upset, because it was cheaper and individually to travel on our own with a local guide - Sami and his guys. In general, in addition to excursions, Sami fulfilled our every whim - from delicious shrimp for lunch to trips to buy fruit. About the excursions - not only did we go with our own team, I would also like to separately mention our guide for the 2-day excursion - Damint. I have not met such a sensitive and caring guide who offers his hand when getting out of the car for a long time. The guys are great!
Yes, about the beach - the beach is sandy, in some places there is even black sand, the waves were average, on the neighboring beaches in different areas - somewhere larger, somewhere quieter. But the hotel has a convenient beach and people even came to us from a nearby 5* hotel. So judge for yourself.
If I would return to this hotel again, I can confidently say that yes. It was calm, cozy and relaxed. And I have something to compare with, this is my 30th country visited.
Ps: we used the safe, everything is intact)))

Terrible and old hotel! They don’t have a buffet, as was originally written, drinks are on the counter, the food is the same and there is no variety. We have been to many places and there is something to compare. If you fly in September, don’t swim in the ocean. But now it’s not about the country, but about the hotel. The linen is dirty, the toilet is dirty and there are no bathroom amenities (only a couple of shower gels and that’s it, not even glasses, no brushes or toothpaste) (in the morning only scrambled eggs or an omelet. There is no point in taking all-inclusive. The village itself is far from the main attractions, the staff especially the administrators rude, but counting individual employees. The pools are dirty, the sunbeds are old. They even give water for signature and everyone gets one bottle of water a day. When one of the managers comes to them for breakfast, they immediately start serving them, we are 30 minutes away. will suit us. I do not recommend this hotel.
