This villa has a very interesting decor with many lovely old copper pots on display. The central courtyard has palms in the middle and dining tables around the edges with rooms off to two sides. The rooms are large furnished in old heavy wooden furniture. I did not use the drawers as they were very smelly. The bad was he...

This place was a very relaxing, homely and quiet place with absolutely Excellent food and service. Going from Atlanta, we got all these good things we were looking for in Jaffna. Just 15 minutes from Jaffna town. We have already recommended this place to many of our friends and will continue to do so. Big Thank you to all the...

My wife's review = I personally loved the place as it reminded me of our home of long ago. We had air conditioned rooms and bathroom and toilet in the open. Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful garden in the front and open verandah with comfortable chairs. The waiter and cook did their best to please you and you could order...

We chose the villa instead of a hotel in Jaffna because our party of 13 wanted to be together and the pics of the villa 'sold' us. We were pleased that the reality did justice to the pics and feedback from friends. Most of the rooms had attached bathrooms in a step-down open concept although there were 2 that were...

My family and I have stayed at Margosa few times and have recommend to our friends. Jeevitha, Vaseekaran and the team do a great job to make the stay comfortable and homely. The chef at Margosa makes the best Sri Lankan dishes- food to die for. Every time I go to Jaffna the only place I stay

Too far from Jaffna (10 km, and difficult to find). Service and welcome is a little distant and cold. No advice, no contact with the management. The beds in the so-called deluxe room were concrete-made (or stone). Very unconfortable beds. No real windows. A strange and noisy device to heat the water (not safe with the plug in the shower...

We stayed at Margosa Villa for three nights in the middle of July. It is a beautiful old house with an interesting layout. The dining room was spacious with many historic features and the verandah was a excellent for a pot of tea and some relaxation. It has a large garden some way from the road. I found the bed...

Loved everything about my stay here EXCEPT the lack of a good chef capable of producing authentic Jaffna food. People who'd come to stay at the Margosa would be wanting the total Jaffna experience including the cuisine. In my opinion having a chef from down south doesn't meet those expectations, sadly. Will definitely be going back there to stay but...

So, I'll preface this review with an acknowledgement that Jaffna has had an extremely difficult history and that accommodation in the area is limited. When selecting accommodation in the area we tried to find the best of what the area had to offer. The Margosa Villa has the bones of what could be some gorgeous accommodation but it needs some...

Love this place. It's a gentle, calm oasis. You can head into the buzz of Jaffna and come back here to relax and reflect. The porch is a wonderful place to recline with a good book and listen to the sounds of the peninsula. Great staff. But my favourite thing about Fits is the food. Some of the best in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Margosa Villa is located approximately 10kms from the city and it is truly the only Oasis of Tranquility in Jaffna. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of the now busy Jaffna town, yet conveniently located between Jaffna City and Palaly Airport. The beautifully decorated 19th century colonial ancestral manor built according to traditional architecture, which reflects a typical Dravidian Aristocratic residence stands majestically on a well landscaped garden of one acre of land. The main restaurant is located in an airy and spacious courtyard where the in-house chef is a master in both western and local cuisine; you would be certainly advised to savor the mouth-watering delicacies that are offered to you. The Margosa Villa is a sublime abode offering visitors a chance to rest and relax in absolute harmony. Discover the beauty of land that is inimitable and hospitable. The Margosa Villa is the perfect place for holiday makers and leisure seekers. The property offers 6 spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, of which one is a Deluxe Room with an en suite bathroom and 4 of the Standard Rooms have attached open-to-the-sky rain shower bath areas.
