Citrus Hikkaduwa is often deemed by guests as offering a solid value, with a welcoming atmosphere and prime beachfront location that's close to local attractions. The hotel's cleanliness earns high marks, particularly the meticulous housekeeping. Although the rooms provide comfort and ocean views, some guests feel they could benefit from modernization.

Detailed Reviews
An absolute pleasure to stay at this hotel. Pulling up at reception, our bags were secured and we were presented with cool towels and mango juice while we checked in. Front desk staff were all very welcoming and warm. We were shown to our room which had a beautiful view over looking the pool, the beach and ocean beyond. The dinner buffet was nice and we enjoyed the sunset at a beachside table while we dined.
The beds were comfortable, the room was quiet and the staff was always very attentive to our needs. I remember thinking "This is how holiday is supposed to be, the hotel staff made it easy for us to simply sit back, relax and enjoy ourselves without a worry in the world, all at a reasonable price. I will return for sure and will be bringing my friends and family with me. Bravo!

We were welcomed very well into the hotel, all the reception staff are fantastic and focused their attention on the customers.
The rooms are spacious and clean,
My disappointments are with the staff in the restaurant and pool timings.
When arriving for dinner we sat down at our table and the waiters seemed to not care. We were presented the menu but was not told about any other food the hotel provides (they had a seafood buffet and BBQ happening later that night)
Before finishing our meal I was presented with the bill without asking for it as if it was about to close and we must move on. Yet 30 mins later, a seafood bbq was setup outside and the restaurant was filled with tourists.
The pool closes at 19:00 which is disappointing and seems very early for a hotel on an island. There was no music or ambience around the social areas.
I went for a massage at the hotel spa which was good, the therapist did a great job but unfortunately they were renovating the spa and it was not a relaxing environment. I could hear the workers talking loudly and a lot of drilling and banging.
Overall the hotel is good but I’m not sure that I’d want to stay there again.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience with the community. Firstly we would like to apologize for the miscommunication that occurred during dinner. We accept our mistake where our teams have not communicated to you about the seafood BBQ dinner that was happening at the hotel the same evening. We have addressed this internally and we guarantee that necessary steps have been taken to ensure that mistakes of this nature do not repeat. Next, we apologize for the noise at the spa. The spa was renovated 2 days in order to uplift the ambiance and the standard further. Unfortunately, you had come to the spa the day the repairs were ongoing. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences caused as a result of this. While we are happy to see some of the positive comments, we can ensure you that your concerns have been directly addressed by the team. We appreciate your constructive feedback. We would like you to visit us again in the near future, and we can guarantee that you would have a memorable stay with us at Citrus Hikkaduwa. Hoping to welcome you back soon. Thank you.

I wanted my son came home on Chinese New Year vacation to be surprise and with nothing much time left for making the reservation and I wanted a nice and clean beach hotel to enjoy the day
Citrus Hikkaduwa fortunately had a room for my family on the busy Sunday.
Although the room was lacking a few basic requirements like in room safe ect we had to keep our valuables with my mom as she did not wanted to enjoy the sea bathing.
Hikkaduwa beach is one of the best on the southern part of Sri Lanka .
The hotel offers a natural tropical fruit juice at the welcome and everyone enjoyed it very much.
The outdoor pool is also very nice and the lunch buffet was also great .
We enjoyed the day very much and reasonably priced. However I feel the the day room was over priced.

We are really happy about our overall experience at Citrus Hikkaduwa and Our stay was rather unique since we stayed on weekdays rather than the weekend. Despite having only 10-15 guests on a weekday, Citrus Hikkaduwa hotel staff was brilliant enough to provide a great buffet for lunch and dinner both rather than À la carte option. Further, our dinner was fabulous due to Chef Anil's superb dishes from action stations and it was an absolute delight. The bar was great itself with its unique mocktails and cocktails and they provide free sodas for liquor we bought from outside. The hotel lobby and lift were always sanitized for COVID and all the necessary safety measures were duly taken. Totally getting money's worth and We will visit again <3

Located just near the wonderful hikkaduwa beach this hotel has a warm vibrant environment. The outdoor as well as the indoor is amazing with creative designs and pleasing sea view.
Hotel staff were very friendly and always attentive.
Rooms are spacious and clean. Room service is quick.
Food was excellent with good varieties of cuisine thanks to the very attentive chief chef.
More concern is given to keep the environment clean and to have a safe stay during this pandemic. This really deserves an appreciation.
Ultimately a best place to sit back, enjoy, and relax.
Special thanks to Danushka, Umesh, and Nadun. Keep up the good work.

Don't even think about staying in this hotel. Food is not good and the room is absolutely a nightmare with no privacy. First thing i had to do once checked in was to ask the maintenance to repair the balcony door which doesn't lock. We waited for like 15-20 minutes till someone comes and repair it but one came. Then we went for luch as the buffet closes at 3pm and while we were having lunch, maintenance team has taken the liberty to open our room with a spare key and repair the lock (note that the front office said they are not allowed to open the room if the guests are not there in the room). Room has no privacy and the balcony opens to the balcony of the room downstairs. Plus i can hear everything that's happening in the corridor. Food was not good at all and there were very limited options.
The worst experience i had is they don't even provide water for the guests. I've stayed in so many hotels and by far this is the only hotel I had this problem. They provide only 2x500ml bottles for 2 guests to consume during their stay which is absolutely ridiculous in this dry climate!!!!!!! If you feel thirsty, you'll have to pay Rs. 200 for 500ml water bottle which is Rs 50 of you buy from anywhere else in the country. They have kept facilities to make tea in room but i don't know how on earth we are supposed to make tea without water.
Overall the stay was very unpleasant and will never recommend to anyone!!!!

My family and I spent 4 days at Citrus HIkkaduwa. Everything was wonderful and I particularly wish to mention the service. Everyone from the room cleaning staff to managers were so obliging and hospitable. I must mention especially, restaurant manager, Mr. NIlanka and Chef Wasantha Fernando who always ensured that we had some of the best meals! The freshly prepared batter fried prawns, vegetable spring rolls, the soups and many other dishes were excellent! Al meals were really great and had a good variety. Duty Manager Mr. Lasantha was also very hands-on to ensure that we had a really wonderful stay. Thank you everyone at Citrus for making our stay a very happy one!

I checked in to the hotel on the 27th of July and stayed for one night with some friends. We were given room number 611 and 612 with a superb view on the 4th floor. Everything was excellent including the food, cocktails and the comfy rooms. Buffet had a wide spread of food and the service provided by both the Restaurant and Bar staff was excellent.
They even arranged a saxophone artist to play for us during the dinner as per our request.
I would recommend Citrus Hikkaduwa to everyone interested as they follow up all the quarantine rules against the spread of Covid-19.
Thank you everyone for making our stay a memorable one. Special thanks to the FOE, Mr. Umesh Waidyarathna and R&B Manager Mr. Arjuna Thushantha.

Did a quick outing for 2n/3d to Citrus Hikka with family as we were looking for a quick drive and back to Colombo. Happened to chose Hikkaduwa as it’s now gradually coming back to its ordinary phase with tourist patronage.
Check in was so smooth and welcoming all the way starting from the security point which gave us a bit of freshening up to overcome the stress of driving. Front office crew does a great job to make sure that the guests are not made uncomfortable nor delay the checking in process yet to ensure continuity with full of hospitality. Surely it’s not the kind of lengthy check in that you sometime find in few other hotels around. Special credit to the FOM Ms. Nimesha and Ms. Sayani for helping us go thru this experience.
Mr. Arjuna who is the R&B Manager and Mr. Rumesh from the restaurant along with the rest of the staff were quite accommodative to a wide spread of guests who dine in including us and that sort of overcomes the tiring busyness of the restaurant. Good job all the way to keep it simple but to not lose focus.
Overall the hotel has a descent plate to offer in terms of the beach, corals, sand, sun, view, an attractive centric swimming pool, garden space for some fresh air breathing, play space for kids, etc etc. Feel there’s a special touch in improving these if not for the personal touch and chanting focus given. Surely the property has improved a lot compared to my last visit few years back (just a short transit stay though) and probably the magic of the General Manager Mr. Malcolm Thomas seem to have making it all happen towards a gradual turnaround whilst keeping phase with the rest of the staff. Hope the journey may enrich with more success for the team to generate more joyful experiences in time to come.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for a peaceful stay without a doubt.

The hotel property is not that large but has all the amenities. I stayed at the hotel for 3 days and COVID related safety measures were followed to the letter by the staff. This was quite exceptional assurance for the travelers during this time. Pool is disinfected two times a day.
Reservation was quite pleasant and Ms. Sayani was keen on us getting the reservation confirmed within minutes. Changes were also accommodated with pleasant smiles.
Although, there were not many residents in the first two days as those were mid-week, the full buffet was opened with a wide range of local varieties. All the varieties were quite tasty and hats off to the chefs!
Rooms were clean with adequate linen and towels. Sea view balcony was the best place for me!
Hotel beach was also one of our attractions.
My wife, kid and parents had a super relaxing time at Citrus Hikkaduwa we are all truly thankful for the super service provided by all the staff.
