We checked in on 10-07-2020 and checked out on 12-07-2020 We were noticed that someone has hit our vehicle on 11th night and after seeing the damage we complained to their management regarding this issue, since by that time there were two security officers located the official car park to secure the vehicles. anyhow management decision was not good since they tried to sort out the issue by giving 20% discount. but the cost for us were more than 75,000LKR. And our whole mood was bad with the experience we faced and from another side we were disappointed cuz my wife is pregnant and she was in a terrible mood due to the feedback we got from the hotel. Also the manager who worked there didn’t even talked to us in a good way on their service failure and he said that they don’t have CCTV footage to take the insurance / Legal actions. I personally believe that there might be something wrong which happened illegally outside the hotel that’s why they are not showing the CCTV footage. As per my personal experience, this is the worst hotel I ever visited.

Greetings from Coral Sands Dear Guest, Our sincere apologies for any distress caused to you and & your friends. We are baffled by your assumption that we refrained from showing you our CCTV camera footage. Our cameras have captured the vehicle being driven in & out but unfortunately, the rear part of the vehicle is not visible within the frame. This matter has been investigated and the following facts have come to light. • The vehicle referred to had been driven in & out several times during your 2 night stay. • We have not had any incidents of vehicles being damaged while parked outside the hotel. • Late evening on the 11th of July, the second day of your stay, you had driven out with a friend. A while later you had returned & reported that the rear windscreen is damaged. • Therefore we presume the damage was not caused while it was parked outside the hotel. • If there was any damage to the rear windscreen, it should have been noticed prior to being driven out and not later, especially as the vehicle had to be reversed to drive out. • The Police were informed following your complaint to the Front Desk staff. • The police team that responded to our complaint detected other damages which indicated that the reported damage may have happened outside of our car park. • The managers had tried their best to resolve the issue without success. • We also understand that while the staff were trying to help you, you had raised your voice at them, which does not help in resolving any issue. • Your wife was obviously upset due to the commotion created by you & your friends. • Several other guests too were upset by the disturbance created by your party. The discount of 20% was offered purely as a gesture of goodwill. Our sincerest apologies are offered to you once again for any distress caused. We do hope this incident will not mar an otherwise pleasant stay & that we would have the pleasure of welcoming you & your friends to Coral Sands again. Kind regards, Siri E. We have to disagree with some comments on here about coral sands. We found all staff friendly, particularly the trainee on reception, Damikka in the restaurant and the pool attendant. Everyone could understand and speak English - some better than others, but that's the same in many countries as they are not English! so I'm not sure about the validity of the reviews that said they dont speak it. Food was delicious and catered for both sri Lankan and international cuisine. Our room was large, with a beautiful 4 poster bed, lovely dark furniture and a huge terrace on the first floor with tables and chairs and sun loungers (deluxe room) . It was clean and we had fresh towels everyday and our coffee/tea was restocked daily. It wasn't overcrowded however we were there when the sri lanka went into lockdown due to coronavirus and the hotel had to shut after we left. Despite this, we were still treated well and looked after by staff even though they would not have a job for who knows how long. The hotel was on the beach, but sun loungers were in hotel grounds. The sea had gorgeous fish so I recommend snorkeling. Just a few hundred meters to the left of the hotel (if facing the sea) you can spot green turtles. We had a lovely, pleasant and comfortable stay. I think it is a very good 3 star hotel. We liked that it is a smaller family owned hotel rather than a chain hotel. I have nothing bad to say about the hotel. We were sad to leave.

Very unfriendly reception and the front office personnel could not speak English. Had prior conversation with manager Sudath and reserved to be there for lunch and he was not even there or avoided us. Due to their rudeness and unprofessional attitude we left to Citrus hotel. Difference is like day and night. I would never go to this hotel again....

Very average stay. While the location is great, in the heart of hikkaduwa and right on the beach, the hotel is too cluttered and cramped. Way too many people and not enough space. Service is below average.
