As a tourist visitor to Sri Lanka, I need to stay comfortably in a friendly atmosphere to spend my stay at Hikkaduwa . YKD was the correct selection. They provide hot delicious mouth-watering meals with the variety of salads
Me i my wife spent a night in this apartment. This apartment situated very close in Hikkaduwa town and very ez for go to the beach just have to cross the galle road. Atmosphere of the room is very luxurious. I love that rooms
Close to the beach and train station. The place is run by a family that have a shop on the ground floor. Sometimes the kids are answering questions or they have to wait for the father to return. It was frustrating to deal with the staff. The grandmother is friendly cause she smiles. No one else smiles or cares that you are there. The room was dirty, and the direct sunlight made the room very hot. So we had to request for the A/C, which was a huge hassle cause no one knew how to turn it on. We picked this location due to the proximity to the train station, dive shop and beach. However, I would suggest looking south. There are a number of cool places on the beach south of hikkaduwa beach proper.
The hotel is clean and tidy some staff are friendly, it is on the main road and train line, not too loud if in middle building it's just hot and the management don't read any special requests you may put down and are not willing to listen to any reasonable changes you may have
The location is great, a stones throw from the beach (if on the main road but that didn't bother us) and a 5 minute walk from the train station - don't get a tuktuk just go straight down the main road and it's very clearly signposted after the people's bank. Basic room with fan which we found to be fine, didn't need air con surprisingly. The only thing I will say it's a bit tired, and does have the dirtiest lampshades I've ever seen! But beyond that it had everything you need for a budget stay (hot water, WiFi, location etc).
