We have been on a road trip with 5 persons. Rooms are very simple but also large. We have been 3 in one room me and my wife slept in one bed and my sister slept in the same room in the second double bed. Sanitary is in Europeanstyler and so very comfortable. We got launch and breakfast at woodlaands. It was very good, we enjoyed our meal.
Our driver found this amazing hotel. It was very clean.Simple.Good new beds. And it was cheap. But wifi wasnt working. There was clima.Hot water.Very convenien. We enjoyed it.They had room for driver included. We would definitelly decommend this hotel for other travellers
I stayed at the Woodlaands for two nights in December, 2015. This accommodation consists of four rooms, two at the ground floor and the other two on the first floor. There is an air-con as well as a fan in the two rooms on the ground floor but an only fan is available in the rooms on the first floor. Although mosquito net is available in all the rooms, neither refrigerators nor TVs are available in any of the rooms. As a router for Wi-fi is located in a next building where the owner lives, you need to go the “main” building if you need to connect to Internet. You can easily access to the terrace of the “main” building without any restriction, though. If you wish, rice and curry can be arranged at an extra cost of Rs 350. This accommodation is located within 10 minutes walk distance from the junction at Kandy road ( A9 ) and B615, which leads to Lake Kandalama, and it takes 30 minutes walk from the main bus station. Since this accommodation is far away from the main street, you can sleep without any disturbance or noise made by local tuk-tuk, lorry or bus drivers. However, I must admit this is the only positive thing to stay at Woodlaands and I would recommend to stay at another place because 1) there is absolutely no restaurants within walking distance, 2) there is only one wall socket / outlet in the room, 3) the room smells musty and 4) the room is too dark to do anything after sunset.…
This is a standart "hotel" its a building next to their home, there are 4 rooms. Rooms are enough big very basic and the beds are too smaller and hard. One thing more, rooms are open! So we had a lots of bugs in our room. The toilet after a shower is a favorite place for frogs, we had great fun chancing them :) maybe mosquito nets an the windows would be a solution. The location is very good. Walking distace to the Cave tempel. 250 Rps to town by tuk tuk. The garden is very nice and owner is pimping it every day. Curry was very good! Small tipp, if you want a nice sunset go to the second floor, its not finished bud there is a nice view at bets and nightlife around at the sunset.
We originally opted for no ac but in the dambulla heat and hunidity ac is definitely a must! The rooms are clean here but very basic. They have hot water and very basic bedding and no other furniture to speak of. The towels provided had some ominous stains so we didn't make use of them but apparently this is from other guests using the towels to dry their floors and thus get them very dusty. Lots of mosquitoes and wildlife around but the reward is a very secluded location. Tuktuk was roughly 250LKR to dambulla and the cave temples are 1.6km walk which was OK.
