We are a family of 4, we requested 2 rooms next to or opposite each other, which was accommodated. I booked in the UK by calling them on WhatsApp, I spoke to monika who was very helpful and booking was smooth. She sent me email confirmation and they didn't want payment until arrival.
Check in was easy and our bags were taken to our rooms for us. The rooms were very clean and tidy, they provide you with a fridge and kettle with tea and coffee.
Staff here were very friendly, the pool barman was really nice and makes delicious cocktails! Everyone from management to cleaners made the effort to say good morning etc and smile when walking past.
It was our daughters birthday while staying and I asked if they would decorate her room and provide a cake at dinner. They were more than happy to do this and did such a good job, one very happy child! They also didn't charge us for it! I bought birthday candles from a nearby bakery, super cheap.

There are monkeys that visit, often over hanging the pool in the trees and paying a visit to the balconies. The girls loved seeing this!

Breakfast and dinner were buffet style. Really nice food, we were anticipating lots of spice and having 2 hungry children, but the food was not spicy unless stated and the girls ate lots! A wide variety of dishes available, a couple of meat choices and loads of veg and rice dishes. Breakfast had bread, breakfast cake, fruit, omlette station, toast.

The pool is nice. A good area to chill and the girls enjoyed it. The only negative is that there are a few broken tiles and after the girls had cut their feet a few times, we were informed by another guest that the staff recommend that children wear socks in the pool. We weren't told this. Socks wear out pretty fast in the Poole. So if you're staying more than 1 day bring a few pairs! Children were still keen to swim daily and it didn't dampen the holiday, but I think it should be high priority for the hotel to fix this.

On our first afternoon at the hotel we decided to walk to the golden Buddha, the lady on reception drew us a map of where to go as it was so close. On our walk we were stopped by a tuk tuk driver. We were more than ready to decline his advances - however we found him to be super helpful in the end and he became our private tuk tuk driver for the 4 days we were there! His name is Dimuth (De-mute). He's keen to help you avoid hotel excursion costs, he did us a good price to take us to sigiriya and was happy to wait around for us.
One evening he spotted us walking to Pophams arboretum which looked very close on the map, he told us it was a very long walk. We thought he might be trying to scam us, but indeed it was a very long walk and I'm glad we hopped aboard the tuk tuk!

All in all a very pleasant stay at sundaras and a great start to our holiday.

As the title suggests the staff were all lovely and couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome and help out - especially their driver Thili. We booked transport and excisions through them and it was all smooth and painless and at a reasonable cost - they even made us a packed lunch.

The hotel itself is ok and for the price it’s fair but there’s currently construction going on where the pool is so not a very nice site and sound when you chill there. The biggest downside however is the restaurant which is wayyyy overpriced for Sri Lanka. It was the most expensive meal we had all trip and was just a buffet of rice and daal and curry. £30 dollars for that and two beers is crazy!

Lovely staff though.

Nice rooms, very nice employees. Clean hotel area. I liked that they offer safaris and trips to sigiriya so you don‘t have to organize it by yourself. But in my opinion they are very expensive. We paid 5000 rupie per person for the trip to sigiriya, entries are not included. Our guide was Thilina. He was very nice and showed us a lot of things. He also explained everything we wanted to know. thumbs up. Elisabeth was also very nice. Special thanks to these two. Dinner was very good! but also expensive. 10$ per person, only buffet. The guys at the pool bar are also nice.

You won‘t regret your choice if you stay here. Very nice people, good food and a clean hotel area.

Nothing like the website photos, we arrived Xmas Eve expecting to spend 4 nights at the property - but after seeing the condition of the rooms and property we left immediately. Rooms had black mould on the ceilings, broken door and what we suspected was semen stains on the sheets. We had booked this through Booking.com and had to forfeit a large amount of money as the hotel chose not to refund the cancellation fee. Our worst experience in what has been a wonderful time here in Sri Lanka.

We have arrived at this place and they are careless, WiFi not working, no enough staff, TV not working, Smell terrible, Swimming pool dirty, bathroom dirty, mosquitos everywhere even inside the building, called reception for wi fi password, they said someone will come and didn't. I came down to reception they said not internet. I felt frustrated so I told them that we cannot stay and went back to the room. After 5 minutes one guy came with WiFi router and told us they will provide Internet but at this point we already decided to leave as they seems careless about guests.
When we came to reception to leave the key, they received the key and didn't offered to us transportation, he left so we left the premises.
Very unprofessional from this hotel, also we called the hotel after all these issues and did not want to refund the money even when we did not stay at this horrible place.

Budget hotel with nice manager and helpful staff. They just opened after a year covid brake, and it we felt if. Only two rooms were occupied. In our room pipes under the sink were leaking but it was not breaking the deal. On the oter hand they were offering extra service during organzed safari and were very helpful.

Loved our stay! Siddu and the rest of the staff are super sweet and helpfull.
Location is a few minute walk from the cave temple, hotel taxi service drives anywhere and at anytime you need. The room was super pretty, shower nice and bed slept well!
We used the pool to cool off and than we went somewhere,… jeepsafari, best restaurants in town, pidurangula rock, tranfer whenn needed,… please go here if you’re looking for a great place to stay.
We loved the last 3 days guys!

Tito, Siddu, Bruno - hope to meet you again some day if we visit Sri Lanka again!

SRS is a beautiful hotel in natural Ambiance in the outskirts of DAMBULLA. Nice designed Pool site is wonderful with attached bar. Curvy paths are very attractive and decoration in the open area under trees gives relief after long journey. Elizabeth from Czech at reception is very nice person to receive guests and probided all genuine guidance of hotel and surroundings. Rooms are very comfortable with spacious balconies. Room service is satisfactory. Buffet breakfast and dinner were also Good and we could find ample vegitarian stuff. Certainly recommend to stay and enjoy with SRS DAMBULLA.

I loved the hotel!. I work 24/7 and I wanted to get off and go somewhere where I can relax a bit. I got referred this hotel by a colleague of mine who visited last year. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Especially Liz, Tittu and Sidu. That was what I appreciate the most. Food was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed cocktails from Laksha (not sure about spelling). I love when hotels have plenty of entertaining options and this one in particular does tours with Saman and Thilina who are very knowledgeable and fun to be around! They also have massages, I haven't been personally but my buddy said Udaru was great. Anyway props to the boss for putting such a friendly staff together that makes your experience top-notch.

Dear Graham, Thank you for contacting us. After my investigation I found out, that your booking was not cancelled but was put as “no show” due room category changing. I can see that our Front Office team sent you an email explaining this situation right after that. As you have booked a Superior double/twin room requesting twin bed which we didn’t have for this day, you got free upgrade to Deluxe twin room. As you have mentioned to write a bad review, we would like to let you know that our one and only mission is to make all our guests happy. We understand it’s almost impossible to achieve it at all the times therefor any kind of reviews can appear whenever. We sincerely apologized we didn’t meet your expectations at this time. We appreciate your honest feedback and we have taken the concerns raised into consideration and are taking measures to ensure that these not repeated. We hope you had a lovely stay in Sri Lanka and we would like to welcome you back and stay with us for pleasant experience. Best Regards, Sharron Anderson Guest Relations Manager Sundaras Resort & Spa
