I had a call in the morning we were supposed to check in. The host said there was a mix up and our rooms had been given to some other guests. After apologising the host very kindly found us another place swifty to stay with a better rating than his. He even paid the difference in price. So even though I can't review the resort, I can review the host's communication was very good. I don't mind if there is an error, but fixing it swiftly was the best part.

The place is nestled just outside of the main town with a beautiful morning view to the rice fields and a stupa in the background. The rooms were super clean and well ventilated. But by far the best part was the friendly and accommodating staff, who were kind enough to arrange special breakfasts and dinners for us as well as organize tours into the ruins. This is one of the best value places we have stayed at in Sri Lanka. Shout out to Wasanta for looking after us :) Stay here if you want all the basics covered at a great price.

I had the room with the balcony overlooking the rice fields, which was lovely. I didn’t see any peacocks, though you could hear them nearby, but I did catch a glimpse of a mongoose. The owner has a friend who is an excellent guide for the historical site. There was nobody at the guesthouse who spoke English until after 5pm, which was a bit of a problem. When I arrived, I was given a key and had to find my room alone. Unfortunately, monkeys had invaded, so the room was a complete mess and impossible to move into. I felt sorry for the owner’s aging mother who had to clean everything up. Strangely, there was no apology from the owner when he arrived.

Room was ok for the price. But we didn’t get cleaning service on the second day. We had to ask clean towel and water bottle. Be able to get beer at the hotel was good since almost no hotels in Sri Lanka have alcohol on the menu. Dinner was ok but mosquito bothered at dinner time and many flies during breakfast. Owner was kind and arranged reasonable tuktuk for sightseeing and to train station at departure. There were larger rooms available during our stay which I wish he offered to us with extra money. Our bathroom did not have separate shower stall and toilet and floor got all wet. If I knew the larger rooms had separate shower stall,I would pay extra if offered. Also I asked for late check out but was denied. Instead of waiting at hot station for extra 2hours, I would have again paid extra for a/c room. I don’t understand why all this but I guess they really don’t need to make money.

This place was very comfortable. The room was clean and bathroom good. We were a family of three and were offered a cot for our 2 year old. The breakfast and evening meal offered was very good and the dinner was some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. We had bikes for exploration and the staff and Jay were friendly, accommodating and saw to it that out short stay was perfect. Definitely a nice spot in the paddy fields but near to ruins on a bike or in a tuk tuk.
