My husband and I stayed at the hotel for one night July 2019. We received a good discount but the first thing we saw as we entered was that the hotel is under renovation. The reception area is beautifully done, taking you back in time to majestic Anuradhapura era. The room we got was old but in good condition. Huge garden is full of various trees. There is a natural tank at the back of the hotel which we took a morning stroll to and enjoyed the beautiful view and the breeze. Friendly hotel staff. The considerable large swimming pool was not cleaned so we had to opt swimming. Do not expect much variety in food. The buffet does not offer much variety but the food taste is not bad. The hotel might regain its calm atmosphere once the construction is completed.

This property is amazing, first time I stayed such a beautiful location. Everything was place in order, they welcome us very warmly, and then they served us cold face towel and the fresh welcome juice. Dinner was buffet and quit busy, there was continental dishes with action station and Sri Lankan food too. Notice the manager did not missed any single guest. He went each and every table and asked about our stay with Palm Garden Village. House girls took very good care of our room, could see hospitality service on their face. Definitely we will be back for Palm garden Village hotel at Anuradhapura

Rooms are dirty, and there are bugs everywhere. tv doesn't have channels, AC noisy and not effective. Staff untrained and unhelpful. Garden unkempt. Pricey but no value money. There's ongoing construction.

Arriving in the evening we were amazed of the beautiful building. Unfortunately a bit disappointing by daylight. Building needs work. In the garden a lot of constructions for reorganizing it. Restaurant in the evening: service good but food not warm enough. Breakfast offering not great. The plasterwork in the shower was falling of the walls. When turning on the shower thousands of ants came out the walls. The aircon did not work. Calling the front desk of housekeeping did not help: the telephone was not answered. Walking over the desk I saw the HK staff chatting to the service staff and the front desk clerk was on his mobile not bothering to pick up the phone. In the end a room move solved our problems.

The hotel looks very beautiful at the first glance on pictures, also upon arrival it is very impressive. There are, however, two major points of criticism: Firstly, there is construction work ongoing on the premises, which gives it an "unfinished" appeal. The garden could be do nice, but everything is dug up. Secondly, service is not good. We just did not feel welcome. Check-in was not warm and friendly, staff seemed strange and nobody smiled. This impression continued at the restaurant. Staff speaks very little English, everything was empty and a little frightening. Food was ok when we ordered a la carte from the very scarce menu. Breakfast was terrible, with poor range and quality. Staff has nothing to do, just standing around and looking at you. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, but very dark. There is no WiFi, which is s big no-go for a hotel at that price range. The pool area could use some cleaning and taking care of. All in all, the hotel is okay for one night, but I would not stay there any longer. I find that very sad, because I like the concept and if they put more effort into it, this could be an elegant and charming hotel.
