Located in jungle-like environment it has kind of bewitched atmosphere. Spacious compound with animals (especially apes that like to get the rests of food from the “inhabitants”, very funny). The staff seemed to be a bit tired sometimes except Nilanka, surprising with her mindfulness and curiosity for us and other guests. Restaurant with somewhat less than perfect quality.

On the first sight you should say, Whoww! The entrance is realy nice. But wen you stay here, you will experience it is a sort of "tourist trapp". The Hotel is far away of the city and it cost you some extra energy to arrange a good taxi to go there and who nows the way and places. The rooms... More

This hotel is a series of bungalows set out in over 10 acres of land. Our bungalow had two separate rooms and was farthest from the hotel facilities and quite a walk. But we were closest to the lily filed lake complete with electric fence to keep the elephants out. Its hard to see the next bungalow thtough the trees... More

When we got to this hotel we were impressed by the decor, the lush garden and the magnificent swimming pool. This hotel is set in a magnificent estate. Rooms and the restaurant need a good upgrading though.... The restaurant offers rather poor food (only buffet style - we went to the restaurant and got immediately back to our room when... More

This was lovely setting, as has previously been noted. A long walk to the rooms but through beautiful gardens. Lots of Monkeys and a Monitor Lizard were spotted, no elephants. The rooms were comfortable, the bathroom oldish but this all fitted the old 'colonial 'feel, which I really loved. There were not many other guests when we were there as... More

As one of the top rated hotels in Anuradhapura, our hopes were high as we pulled in to the forest-lined driveway. Our initial reaction was one of curiosity, however; Palm Garden Village is a bizarre place. The owners have created a now achingly outdated villa complex in the middle of a forest that is overgrown. One walks from hut to... More

I have to report a mixed bag? The setting is superb with a wonderful lake attached, and along with a swimming pool it makes relaxation easy. The bungalow itself was spacious but 'tired', the main door jammed, the toilet flushed continuously and the outside light did not function. The last remark was important as I have never encountered so many... More

Palm Garden Villlage is a real mixed bag. Conceptualized and built very well while the way is run is a disaster. The property consists of cottages and a section housing the restaurant, bar and reception in a really beautiful tropical mini-jungle and will give you the feeling that you are staying in a pristine forest reserve. It also borders a... More

This should have been a joy but although the atmosphere, room ( despite the small visiting frog) and grounds were great the poor level of service ( we waited 35 minutes for a drink) and quality of the food , most of which was stone cold ,available completely spoilt this visit for me

Palm Garden is made up of a number of small cottages, well spread out in expansive tropical gardens, with a restaurant/bar/lounge complex overlooking a large pool. The restaurant serves plenty of adequate if not brilliant food. While we were staying, a quite extensive building program was under way to add a conference facility. The stand out feature of the complex... More
