In a country famed for its beauty, the most iconic images associated with Montenegro are of the tiny islet named Sveti Stefan, once a fortified village dating back to the 15th century. Today, the island's cluster of sturdy stone buildings together with Villa Miločer, a graceful stone manse on the mainland across the bay, comprises the idyllic beachside resort of Aman Sveti Stefan. The resort provides guests with personalised guided excursions to natural and cultural attractions in the area.

I've never stayed at an Aman before so I cannot compare it to others as other reviewers have done. Notwithstanding the critique that this hotel is not on hte par with other Aman hotels, I thought this hotel was in a class by itself. For one, the hotel has a whole medieval village as part of its grounds which is closed to the public and is for hotel guests. Being able to walk in a medieval village without crowds in Europe is truly a unique experience. There are also main grounds outside the island and the hotel has a boat to take guests back and forth. The service is what would be expected from a hotel of this caliber. It has its own private beaches as well as several pools. The unique UNESCO heritage side of Sveti Stefan alone makes this a must visit hotel even if one does not have the good fortune of staying there.

I don’t honestly know how to start this review as how the trip started is so different than how it ended. I made the reservation through FHR and there were some miscommunication between myself, the FHR agent, and possibly the Aman agent. I had requested to stay on Sveti Stefan island, but once we got to the hotel- we were informed that island was closed and we had to stay in the villa. I had such high expectations to stay on the island and I was incredibly disappointed and upset by not having been informed as I had planned the entire trip about staying on that island. Well- Milica the front office manger quickly arranged a tour of the island which I loved. Anyhow to make a long story short- I also fell in love with the Villa and started appreciating the history of it and felt fortunate to be able to experience that. The grounds of the entire property is gorgeous but what makes the place so special is the people who run it. Sven Van den Broeck, the general manager was gracious and informative, Milica, the front office manger was kind and professional and kept her cool even when I didn’t. And Dejan- the beach manager was just someone that I felt I have known for yours. He was sweet, helpful, kind with great suggestions. There were the night front desk manager that sadly I can’t remember the name and all the wait staff. We’re definitely coming back and most certainly recommend this place. With much love, Sara

We stayed at Sveti Stefan for two nights during our friends’ wedding celebration. Besides being a truly unique property, services and amenities fell short of expectation. We requested for an iron, which the hotel ran out and provided a paid and slow pressing service as the only option. We later found out that the laundry ruined 3 pairs of our friend’s pants. As a groomsmen, my husband had to arrive early at the venue located at King’s Beach, 1.5 km away from the main compound. When requested for a shuttle service, the hotel staff disappeared for 10 minutes, only to reply that shuttle services is not available. He had to walk 1.5 km across the hill with all his groomsmen stuffs. The breakfast was a disappointment: comprising of a charcuterie board, roasted vegetable and cakes that were exactly the same as from the prior night’s welcome dinner. Everything was premade. Bread and pastries were cold. What was most unacceptable was during the outdoor dinner reception when the temp. dropped to 10 degree. When requested for a blanket, the hotel staff replied that they ran out and assure us “don’t worry, you will feel warm once start dancing at the after party (which took place 2 hours later). Finally, the Aman impressed us with by charging the wrong beverage bill (3 bottles of Grey Goose) to our room. This also happens to our friends. We didn’t understand how the services at an ultra-luxury hotel, especially Aman could go so wrong. We won’t be able to see the Aman the same way again.

A wonderful island with a unique combination of 15th century Venetian dwellings, interiors renovated by Aman, superb food and service that is delivered with fierce pride and hospitality by locals. This is an Aman that is right up with the very best in the world - which many Amanjunkies have doubted is possible outside Asia. The old Aman sense of being part of a family shines through, making it impossible to list here all those who have touched us with their kindness. Special mention, however, to F&B Manager Miljan, who has educated us on Montenegrin wines and made us big fans of the Vranac grape!

Our stay was fantastic except for our last nite: they could not not provide air conditioning. They could not repair it and and they could only say “I’m sorry” as a response. It’s 3 am as I write this and we will get the pleasure of staying up all nite before our long day tomorrow of international travel — fun. What’s even better is that the staff opened a few windows which allowed a fair number of mosquitoes to bite us all nite. There is zero breeze inside inside and also zero wind outside (i tried sleeping outside — got bitten alive). For the kind of money I’m paying for this huge villa, I expect to be able to sleep.
