El MaPi by Inkaterra garners praise for its cleanliness and modern decor amidst the greenery, though some guests miss certain amenities. Its central location is highlighted as highly convenient, yet the atmosphere can be marred by pervasive street noise.
While the service garners mixed feedback, with instances of both disorganization and helpfulness, many visitors question the hotel's value, pointing to basic rooms and overpriced services. Although early breakfast options are a hit, the lack of soundproofing and smaller room size are common concerns among guests.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel is very nice , the rooms are clean , modern and comfortable. My big complaint is the noise. I understand about the building site but the room has no sound proofing. We were in building 3 and we could hear street noise, party noise, doors banging and people constantly talking. We both wore ear plugs. I suppose I was cross because I asked the girl on the front counter for a quiet room and she said we had one. I’d hate to stay in a noisy room if ours was quiet.
The restaurant was very good. My meal of pork was lovely and my husband enjoyed his chicken.
The breakfast was good and they have lovely, freshly squeezed orange juice. They do a great job of organising people’s bags to and from the station.
This hotel could get a 5 if they addressed front
counter staff management and the noise situation. (Eg put some sound proofing around or maybe some carpet in the hall ways and soft closing doors. ) Asking cleaning staff to be aware of early morning noise would also be appreciated as not everyone is up at 6 am.
I’ve given this hotel a 4 as it’s in a fantastic location and the restaurant is good. It needs to address some reception staff issues. ( not in the restaurant as they were good).

This hotel is so eco conscious fr the signage on the steps to the shampoos and body wash pouches. The staff is so kind and willing to lend a hand whenever needed. Dinner was included in our stay, it was a la carte and absolutely delicious. The spa is a must, there are views of the mountain side and untouched vegetation.

Macchu Picchu...bucket list!
Our travel agent picked our hotel for us and I wasn’t sure what to expect! I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived in Agua Caliente. El Mapi is a super cute hotel that’s environmentally conscious. All over the hotel, you can see suggestions on how to be better to the environment and more resourceful. They even have funny sayings like take group showers to save water.
The hotel has bamboo logs that line the hotel and cute messages as you walk up the stairs. The hotel is directly up the mountain from the bus station that goes to Machu Picchu so it has a great location and you are surrounded by lots of restaurants and stores. The room is pretty basic but comfortable, clean, and had a great view. I also love that dinner/breakfast was included.
The staff was very friendly and helpful! One morning we had missed the time for breakfast which was included with our room and they provided pastries and other items that we had missed so we could still get something to eat. I thought all the staff went out of their way to be very helpful. The only thing is this hotel is a little noisy but that would be my only complaint. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located approximately a 5 minute walk from the station up hill. Very new and still under construction. Modern hotel, rooms are located in blocks, lifts are available to rooms however not in use as they are still building additional floors. Ensure that you are out of your room by 8am as this is when the building works starts and it is very noisey.
Service from the staff is very laid back and inefficient to the point of lazy, particularly in the restaurant and in reception. They could do with some professional training as found that nobody tells you anything and you have to find out for yourself. Service may improve when the hotel is finished being built?
Room was clean and bright when we had found it (having climbed up all the stairs to find we were in the wrong block - no guidance from reception). Good sleep, nice comfy bed and great hot shower. Good breakfast choice - buffet style.
A decent stay, new clean and bright rooms however the staff need to be more helpful. Travellers have had a long day getting here and the service needs to be more efficient, consider customer needs, offer help and assistance.

We stayed at this hotel as it was organised via another travel agency. A pre-authorisation charge was put on my credit card, which we weren't too happy about (considering we had already paid all costs up front with the travel company) but understood it was a part of their company policy. We were promised that this would only be a pending hold and that the card would not be charged if nothing happened to the room. Once we left the property and continued our travels the charge was still pending but I assumed it would just go away. I checked a few days later and the charge went through, cost me an additional $100AUD and they still haven't responded to my email questioning it. Poor service and customer experience.

Nice, modern hotel in the centre of town. Line for the busses was located on the next street.
Comfortable bed and pillows and wifi worked well.
Biggest problem is the noise. The floors are all tiled and big wooden doors on the room that you virtually had to slam shut. The tiled floors made everything echo. This was all you could hear all night and into the early morning which was very frustrating.
Restaurant service was also very slow for both dinner and breakfast. Reception staff were pleasant.

Needed a place to stay the night in Aguas Calientes as we couldnt figure out a way of getting to Machu Picchu early in the morning without doing so.
Arrived by train from Ollantaytambo, was met by hotel staff at the station and taken to the hotel which was nice. Check in process was smooth, room was basic but clean. Only complaint about the rooms would be the sheets which felt like they were made out of coarse paper.
Dinner and breakfast included in the price which meant we didnt have to deal with all the touts outside for every single restaurant selling burgers, pizza, sandwiches and some version of local food. Service was friendly but a little slow, think they need to hire more staff for the dinner sitting given it isn't a buffet. The bar was nice but the music felt like I was at a club in Ibiza for 18 year olds continuously.
Check out at 10 means anyone visiting Macchu Pichu in the morning wouldn't be back in time for a quick shower before heading off. There was no option of late checkout even for a fee.
All in all, if you are in the area just for a clean bed, good shower and some food before visiting MP, this is a good option.

We booked El MaPi to overnight before visiting spectacular Machu Picchu. The hotel is conveniently located close to the train and bus station. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds are comfortable. However the rooms have thin walls that offer little sound insulation. A quarter of the hotel is currently under major construction. But the biggest issue is the incompetence of the staff. We booked a suite and double room, specifically requesting interconnected rooms because we are traveling with our 3 children. We were assured that this would be possible and on this basis, confirmed our booking. As staying together is a safety priority, 8 weeks before arrival, we confirmed that we would have connecting rooms or at least nearby. On arrival, we were told that we had been allocated rooms...in separate buildings! The reception staff were completely unsympathetic, even after being shown the the extensive communication confirming that we would have connected rooms. They did not offer any acknowledgement, let alone apology, and could not offer any “solution” other than to tell us that we should sleep separately, an adult in each room. In the end, we had to sleep 5 in a suite with only 3 beds! Unbelievable! The incompetence continued in multiple other examples too petty to list, but a clear conclusion is that this is NOT a hotel geared for families or capable of handling anything more than most basic requirements. I do not recommend this hotel.

This hotel was chosen by our tour operator, so I wasn’t expecting too much, however I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were well appointed, comfortable and eco friendly. Check in was easy and the restaurant provided an excellent dinner and breakfast.
Short walk to bus stop for morning ride up the mountain.
With so many people going up to Machu Picchu, they have an early breakfast starting at 4:00am. However I would have liked the chance to have the room available when you return - making you check out by 9:00am , means you have to check out before you hike which is less than ideal. Even a midday check out would have worked for us who left the hotel at 5:00am.

We had a very bad experience with the el MaPi and cannot recommend anyone to stay there.
We had booked one night via the internet. When we arrived at the Aguas Calientes train station, the complimentary pickup was not around (although it had been confirmed the day before by mail). After 10 min of roaming around the train station, we finally found the guy from El MaPi - he was lazing around and not interested in talking to anyone. Turns out, we were not on his list for pick ups somehow. After growling at us as if that was our fault, he finally walked us to the hotel anyhow. The hotel is 100m from the train station, so in the end the “pick up” service is pretty useless anyhow (we didn’t know this at the time).
Once in the hotel, check in was also bad. The staff seemed bored and preoccupied, ran through the formalities like robots. The least friendly welcome we had in all hotels we stayed at in Peru.
The worst part came when we were asked to pay the room. They charged us a price which seemed way too high. So we asked and showed them our booking made online. Turns out they have a system going that is nothing short of a scam: to the online quote, they add a 10% “service fee” (this is a common thing in Aguas Calientes apparently, but not elsewhere in Peru). They then charge the price in Peruvian soles. HOWEVER, the hotel applies a ridiculous conversion rate of USD to PEN, more than 10% above the bank rate. So in total, they charged us a price that was more than a third higher than what was quoted at the time of our booking.
We haven’t encountered anything like that in any other place in Peru, and it’s frankly a shame - this practice is nothing short of scamming customers.

Yes. I got my 14" laptop in it and Nikon camera at the same time.
We changed our time and wasn't a problem.
They were operational in August this year when we were there on vacation. I am surprised at their lack of response- as they seemed very organized and had good customer service.
There wasn't one in the room but I'm sure a good hotel like this will have available, contact directly through their website and check.
Yes they gave me gluten free bread and crackers - though I told them in advance I was gluten & dairy free.
