Most people come to Agua Calientes for one night ever so don't expect much. Super touristy town and the El Mapi is a new build squeezed into a small plant. Rooms pretty basic. Great food and service (steak). Spa was slightly odd - top floor of a block in the middle of the town, £35 each for a sauna and hot tub! The other El Mapi in town is across the river in the rainforest and has fabulous birdwatching - I visited and wishes we have booked there!

It was okay but if I’m being honest, a lot of why I didn’t love it had more to do with Aguas Calientes than the hotel itself. It’s very much a town for college students and people in their 20s, the backpacker crowd. I’m too old for that nonsense so the hyper touristy vibe of the town (tourism is it’s only reason for existing) and the late night drinking and partying which is audible through the windows and super thin walls of this place annoyed me. The room was super basic, the bare essentials all there but some comforts like a soap bar in the shower were missing. The bed was super uncomfortable, omg, it felt like they draped a few beams of wood with a sheet. I like a firm mattress but that’s not what this was. It also clearly felt like my “king” bed was just two smaller beds fitted together with a sheet because the crease between the two was easy to feel and also uncomfortable. Breakfast was okay, a good enough variety of decent tasting options to fuel you through your energy intensive hike up Machu Picchu. I’d say I wouldn’t stay here again but that’s mostly because I would never stay overnight in Aguas Calientes again either. I’d recommend for the over 30 / mature crowd to find a way to bypass the town and just visit Machu Picchu directly for day then return to better accommodations and atmosphere in Cusco or some other nearby town.

We stayed one night in this gorgeous hotel while visiting Machu Picchu. From the second we stepped inside the warm, modern and immaculately clean lobby we were greeted with friendly staff who bent over backwards to make sure we were taken care of and all of our travel plans for the next day were organized. We received vouchers for complementary Pisco Sours and lemonades for each member of our family. We had an amazing dinner highlighted by the executive chef visiting our table to wish our son a happy birthday. The chef also made him a special cake. The food and drinks were delicious and beautiful. The manager, Frank made sure our 1 night in the hotel was perfect. The rooms were clean and newly remodeled. Their staff met us at the train station to deliver our bags right to the gate after a long hike up Machu Picchu mountain. We were very happy we chose El Mapi to spend our 1 night in Aguas Caliente. You will not be disappointed.

Despite the convenient location of this hotel, there are so many missing necessities that are needed in this hotel. The hotel promotes the concept of “recycling” which is correct. But if the customers’ comfort is comprised because of the concept, they are on the wrong path. The good: - location is near train station, bus to Michu Picchu The bad: - super small hotel room and bathroom space - the bed is super hard. Sheet feels like sand paper. The comforter is so thin. We didn’t have a good comfortable sleep at all - hotel room is very noisy. We are on the 5th floor but can hear the guests in and out of their rooms clearly. Also, there was a big birthday party until after midnight downstairs. Drunk people are making so much noise and we just couldn’t sleep. -curtains are not double layered. We saw a half naked women right cross from our room in the opposite building since she accidentally left a gap on the “paper texture” curtain - no face towels and body lotion as amenities - security box is hard to use - the hotel restaurant is a joke. Our Three-course meal is included as a hotel package. We waited for 25 minutes between the main course and the appetizer. The portion is small and the service is extremely slow. Waiters and waitresses are folding napkins and no one seems to bother to check with kitchen to push the food. The restaurant was only half filled. - it cost 36sol for a pina colada and it was very diluted flavorless drink. It was a rip off! The town of Aquas Calientes is a tourist centric place. But don’t treat tourists like idiots by adding a high price tag with discounted quality. Overall, we had a terrible experience at this hotel. I strongly do not recommend. Save your money to stay elsewhere.

Inkaterrra El Mapi Stayed 1 night at this hotel which is about 90 meters from the train station in Aguas Calientes, at the base of Machu Picchu. It is a couple short blocks from where you board the busses up to MP. Nice hotel, staff is excellent. They are great at holding luggage before/after you visit MP and will even deliver it to the train station for you. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food was pretty good - pumpkin soup was excellent. Walls are very thin (my one issue) so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. We took a guided tour of MP the morning we arrived, and the next day went back on our own to take photos and see it in a relaxing way. I would highly recommend this. The second day isn’t absolutely necessary but it was nice to enjoy with no stress. I would definitely recommend this hotel and the town in general. Pharmacy is a few feet away and lots of small restaurants within walking distance. Convenient.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Dinner was included which is convenient as some of the hotels in Aguas Calientes are a little hit and miss. Staff were helpful and rooms were clean and modern. In a good location in Aguas Calientes.

I had high hopes from the lobby and common spaces which have an attractive, modern design. The rooms, however, are small and rather sparse. After a long day of walking the Inca Trail, I was hoping for a few more amenities (i.e., a soaking tub). The room was also quite chilly with the only heating option a rather sketchy space heater. On a positive note, the hotel was well located in Aguas Calientes, meals were very good, and service throughout was professional and friendly.

The room I had was very comfortable. It was at the back of the building and was very quiet. The front desk staff were all pleasant. Breakfast had a nice selection including eggs, potatoes and fruit. It was ready starting at 5:00 am so made it easy to have it before boarding the bus for Machu Picchu.

The front of the hotel and the design of the reception are very attractive. The pleasant experience ends here. Not a very warm welcome, drowned in the mass of many groups constantly arriving in the hotel. The cost of the evening meal and breakfast is automatically charged for two people even if the room is occupied by only one person. The Spa, much promoted on booking.com photos and the hotel's website is at extra cost (140 soles, about 35€ per entry). This information is not clear while booking the hotel. The staff is on the whole friendly and in spite of a good will cruelly lacks training and practice. Despite the good location of the hotel (near the train station and the departure of the buses for Machu Picchu) the rooms are very badly insulated and let the noise of the street pass through, with very loud music until after midnight. Not good when most of the guests get up at dawn to visit the archaeological site. Spacious room but very cold, very poor quality finishes, especially in the bathroom. The rooms are very clean but the overall experience of our stay in this hotel was very disappointing. Fortunately the beauty of the Machu Picchu site made us want to come back again but not in the same hotel.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel and regret it. The service and the food were not corresponding to a hotel of this class… and this price. It might be suitable for large groups (capacity of 130 rooms) but not for families or couples. We should have had dinner outside - the food was included but not good - and the service very slow. For the breakfast, if you are in the room with full occupancy, you’ll have to fight to get some food. Last but not least, do not forget ear plugs if you stay there… We definitely do not recommend this hotel.
