We spent one night here, so that we could visit Machu Picchu already in the morning the following day (much more relaxed than doing that in a day trip from Cusco). We were greeted at the train station by a member of the hotel staff, who took us and our luggage to the hotel (about 5 minutes walking away). Service in general was very good, friendly, and professional.

Our room was on the side of the hotel with a partial river view. Looking back, we probably would have wanted to pay a bit extra to get a room at the front of the hotel with a full river/valley view. The room, including bathroom, was very spacious. It did have a bit of a moist smell to it, but that is normal in such a relatively wet place (we were there in the wet season) in the tropics and was not too bad. The room was sparsely but adequately furnished, and had a good comfortable bed.

Breakfast was fine with a reasonably good choice of foods and drinks. Coffee and (coka) tea was available complimentary all day long in the reception area.

Compared to other, similar, hotels we stayed at in Peru, this hotel was a bit on the pricey side, so not offering as good a value for money, but that must be due to its remote location in a very popular town close to Machu Picchu.

I stayed only one night on 8 March 2020. It was my birthday but I was so focussed on climbing Machu Picchu Mountain the next day I did not say a word. A comfortable night, attentive staff and very relaxing once I got there off the train. I left my suitcase at concierge the next morning when I checked out, climbed the mountain and toured the Machu Picchu ruins and then came back to collect my luggage at around 2.30pm. I was absolutely over the top about climbing the Mountain but very stiff and sore. I asked if the hotel had any shower facilities that I could access - the answer yes of course.
Buffet breakfast was terrific as well. Can't fault the service here. Very memorable stay and the staff went above and beyond.

The Tierra Viva is a bright, beautifully appointed and tranquil hotel decorated with local, funky Andean art & conveniently located close to the market, restaurants, and both the train & the bus stations. The river was really high during our visit, which provided an excellent soundtrack during our entire our stay.

All the staff we interacted with were pleasant, welcoming, kind & attentive, and somehow Elmer remembered all of the names in our group even though we’d only seen him briefly upon check in.

The rooms were spacious, clean & comfortable and mine overlooked the river which was an added bonus. A delicious buffet breakfast with a good variety of options was available starting at 5 am, which is perfect for early morning departures to Machu Picchu. We were able to drop our bags off prior to check in, and store them with the hotel after check-out which was very convenient. The hotel also provides filtered water so we were able to fill up our water bottles prior to setting out for a day of hiking & sight-seeing.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone in Machu Picchu Pueblo or Aguas Calientes & will definitely stay here on a future trip. It had everything we could have needed during our stay & delightful, friendly staff to make us feel welcome.

I used the TV as a base to visit Machu Picchu. Aracely at the front desk was able to check me in and answer all of my questions plus arrange for laundry service. My buddy stayed in the 06 bank and I was in the 07 bank. I would say that you should try to get the 07 (corner) as it is a huge room with a balcony and a window in the bathroom. The hotel has one of the nicer restaurants in town and it is much quieter and away from the crowds than the plaza mayor or along the rail tracks.
It is important to note that Aguas Calientes (like Ollantaytambo) is remote and amenities are limited. This means that most accommodations are rustic. The wifi is excellent but the hotel does not have an internal air-handling system which means that my bathroom got very cold at night. Each room has it's own wall-mounted heater which comes in handy at night.
The hotel is located a short walk from the plaza mayor and rail/bus station which means it is a lot quieter.

One of the great staff members met us at the train station and carted our bags to the hotel, as well as back to the train on the day of our departure...all of which is a nice touch. The front desk personnel were also charming and helpful The room was comfortable, although the view of neighboring rooftops was ugly. The "included" breakfast was bad: Eggs and sausages were cold, and the selection of other foodstuffs was poor. If you're not constrained by time in the morning, don't accept the hotel breakfast, go check out other nearby restaurants.

The hotel's location is 2-5 minutes' walk from the Machu Picchu train station, bus station, central square or shopping street, which is very convenient.

We stayed in a corner room on the third floor, which had a large terrace and a long river next to it. There was a surging sound, but the sound of the surging water was very comfortable and would not affect your sleep. The bathroom shower water pressure is sufficient and hot enough, which is very good. The room was also very spacious.

The most commendable thing is that after visiting Machu Picchu, although we had already checked out, the hotel arranged for us to have a shower for free, which was very considerate and considerate. The hotel lobby also provides free hot tea or water to visitors.

Finally, we had lunch at the hotel restaurant before leaving. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. It was more value for money than restaurants in city squares!

We decided to come to Aguascalientes last minute because of some protest that would not allow us to get to Machu Picchu on time, I quickly search for the few hotels that wear four and five stars and chose this one simply by some posted photos and location, I am glad we did because we end up staying 2 nights since we couldn’t get back to Cusco because of the protests. The rooms are very clean and spacious, in the regular rooms expect to have a hair dryer a TV and standard features, in the superior rooms you have a little more like bath bes two sinks and better views. I was worried about the carpet since I saw a review that posted something negative about it but the carpets, in the rooms we had were clean and did not smell.

We stayed 2 nights and were very pleased with the accommodations. The hotel is very close to shops, the train station and several restaurants. We had the buffet breakfast which was good, and the hotel also has universal plugs in the bathroom with both 110v and 220v. No need to bring an adapter or converter! The staff was very friendly and they handled our group of 21 efficiently.

We reviewed many hotels in Aguas Calientes before deciding on Tierra Viva since we were only staying one night we wanted the best hotel possible without breaking the bank.
The rooms were spacious, relatively new with large bathrooms and large showers. The beds were quite comfy, one of our rooms was overlooking the river, which is just across the street and had amazing views.
We had read positive comments about the breakfast and we were all very impressed, the crème de leche crepes were excellent! My wife thought it was the hotel breakfast we have ever had.
They stored our bags for the day while we hiked Wanyan Picchu and let us use their shower room, all free of charge, before we left for the train station.

Rooms are nice and clean, staff is doing a good job, too. Breakfast from 5:00am, which was very important for our visit to Machu Picchu, very nice and they offered a good selection. Location could not be better, 5 mins walk from/to train station and even closer to the bus station for Machu Picchu. Very recommendable hotel.

Yes it’s possible to get picked up from the train station and escorted to the bus ticket and/or line area. Contact Tierra Viva to arrange this. As another person wrote everything is very close by so it’s not necessary but if that’s your preference it can certainly be arranged. I wanted that service as well but arranged it through a 3rd party tour company. They had a rep from the hotel meet us at the train station on arrival and walked us to the hotel. Of course we could have found it on our own but it was nice to have someone guiding us to weave through the narrow lanes and also to help me carry my bag. I recommend getting your bus and MP tix in advance so you can go straight to the bus line per the timing of your ticket (there are different likes for different timings).

If you have contacted the hotel to meet you a representative will be there with a placard & your name on it. They will then take your luggage & you will walk with them to the hotel. Otherwise you will have to walk with your luggage. Either way it’s not far to any hotel from the station.
