With only four guests at the time (us), El Tesoro became a private hotel/restaurant with the occasional visitor for lunch. Thus a very, very private, black-sand beach, frequented only by a few sweet-water-seeking horses, cows and neighbors. Howler and other monkeys audible and visible nearby in the lush canopies and on the beach. Cinderblock spacious rooms, cold-water showers, wifi, a...

I stayed four nights in March and absolutely loved it! This place is very quiet, you hear howling monkeys and birds everywhere, the beach is private, staff is amazing but most of all the food is incredible!! The local fish is to die for and all meals were prepared with care by the cook. The room was very nice with...

Great staff! Excellent food! If you are looking for a private place to stay on Ometepe please consider El Tesoro. Our room was right on the beach. Daniel, the owner was extremely accommodating and we loved our entire stay!

I loved this place, prices are decent. The food was awesome. The manager is super cool. They are very helpful. If I go back to the Island, I will stay there again. We met some nice people there and the staff is great.

We couldn't get a hold of anyone when we got to Ometepe (at around 2:30pm), so after having a beer in Moyogalpa and realizing that tourist-centre was NOT where we wanted to stay, we got in a tuc-tuc (only $10) and headed to El Tesoro on a whim. Thank god we did! The amenities are all great - towels and...

This is a funky little spot. Very remote. We took a taxi from the port for $30. When we left, we paid a local to take our luggage to the main road on his horse and we walked to the road to catch bus to other parts of the island. This hostel/hotel is right on the beach. The room was...

Sure, it's a bit hard to get to, but if you're willing to shell out for a taxi or if you've got a car, the distance isn't bad. The rooms are basic; I think ours was $26/night with fan (not A/C), but I'm not positive of that, since I wasn't the one who paid. Very comfortable with the windows open...

Well, when they say it's secluded it's spot on with this place. If you're going to San Jose Del Sur make sure you arrange a transport beforehand, otherwise you might end up walking the 3-4 kilometres to the hostel like we did (there wasn't even any cars to hitchike!) The whole place has a little bit of a rundown feeling...

When searching for accommodation on Ometepe, I wrote to five hotels. Of the three which replied, the Tesoro had the best options. For people without their own transport, it is a bit hard to reach but this keeps the casual visitors away (take a local "chicken" bus from Moyogalpa, ask the driver to stop at the sign for the hotel...
