Hotel Villa Paraiso is a beautiful hotel right on the beach at Playa Santo Domingo. Their rooms are comfortable and well appointed and they are spaced out nicely throughout the garden area overlooking the beach. Each cabana has its own private balcony area. The wifi isn’t the strongest, but it’s adequate. The closest ATM is in Altagracia, so be sure to bring enough cash with you for your stay. One of the highlights of our stay here was their breakfasts. You have a choice of a few different breakfast dishes and the restaurant area flows over a few different sections, all with great views out to the beach. Be ware of the local blue jay birds that are very cute but also aggressively go after your food. The hotel has a pool as well as cabanas right on the beach.
Kept having to remind myself that this in not the sea! There were waves and looked like there was a small tide too. Rooms scattered around the grounds, large and comfortable. Many did not have fridges, which is a pity. Food was good and mid priced. Good area next to beach (bar, but was shut) so we had a group gathering with local rum and coke there:) Good base for exploring the island. Close to the petraglyphs and a large spring fed pool. Walk form the pool up the hill for good views of the two volcanoes.
This hotel is amazing and the staff are excellent! My husband and I were in town for The Fuego y Agua race and were impressed with the staff. They were so accommodating and helpful! We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious! The jalapeño steak was so flavorful and came with vegetables and rice! The breakfast was also super delicious! We will definitely be back!
Tourists are just starting to return to Nicaragua and a visit to Ometepe is on most itineraries.Th is a review of the restaurant only as we stopped here for lunch on a day trip to Ometepe Island. The hotel and restaurant has a wonderful location overlooking a volcanic black sand beach for which the island is known. Although the service was a bit discombobulated the food was very good. In fact the chicken skewers I had were the best I've ever tasted with a really unique spicy/fruity sauce. The desserts were also very good. You will be entertained by the magpie jays that are very pretty birds and persistent in their efforts to steal a French fry. All told for a country as poor as Nicaragua this is a very nice restaurant.
Stayed here for 2 nights. We had room 22 which was facing the sea with a balcony and hammock. The pool is just below accessed by steep stairs.the beach is small and dark sand. There are chairs but all quite old. The breakfasts were good and magpie jays sit very close looking for scraps.the staff are helpful and most speak some english. There are 2 "roads" to get here from the ferry by car. The longer route in milage is on paved roads and takes 20 minutes. The other is NOT paved....AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF NOT IN 4X4!
We stayed at Villa Paraiso for 2 nights in one of the bungalows. The room was very nice and it included AC, a fan and best of all a fridge. We had a nice balcony overlooking the beach. Although the hotel was busy due to Easter holidays the room was quiet, except for the roosters. The staff were very friendly and helped us rent an ATV. We ate all of our meals there as the food was very good. The breakfast was included and although small it was tasty. The beach out front is the best in Ometepe. There was also a refreshing pool. Recommend staying here for sure.
Located on right on Lake Nicaragua (on the windy side), when you first arrive it seems like a touch of something special. It's not. I was given a 'new' upstairs room with a balcony. That was great ! No question. But the rusted tin roof and rubbish covering it it, took away any special touch. My room smelled of sawdust. Either hadn't been cleaned ever (and the dust and hairs on the floor will attest to that) or it was 'just finished'... I asked for it to be cleaned. The Manager came and mopped, good on her. But, It smelled of saw dust my entire stay. I suffer from hayfever - so let's say it was NO fun. Room is spacious, reasonably (yes just reasonably modern). Bathroom was compact. Shower, as with most in Central America didn't work. Great water flow but nothing else. Cold water showers it is.... Bathroom particularly smelled of sawdust. A bird flew headlong into my balcony sliding door. Let's say it was ugly. I contacted staff, they removed the bird but I had to clean the remaining (and there was a lot) of debris away with tissues. Unacceptable. There is a nice 'restaurant' overlooking the lake. Prices are inflated because you are on an island. Service is efficient but not super friendly. Other birds fly onto tables to poach your food. That's fun... Lol. It's also very windy. I checked the pool... Full of leaves because the wind never stops. Better option are the Springs located a short drive away, Nirvana after a 8 hour Volcano hike..... Breakfast at the hotel is good without being inspiring and there are a few local stores within 60m that you can get refreshments from. Would I stay again... Only if the rooms were cleaned properly.…
We enjoyed our stay here. Rooms are simple but clean with hammocks on the porch. Great beach to walk on! We had dinner one evening in the restaurant it was very good and fresh. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
We stayed for 4 nights at the end of March, group of 2 couples. We had a great stay- service is fantastic, Domingo would bring us coffees to our villas every morning! Views are amazing, the photos don't do it justice. You feel like you are in a tree fort. The hotel is on a hill above the beach so views are all great and the wind is super strong. Restaurant is good, we had breakfast every morning included and enjoyed the fresh juices. Rooms are very simple, but have everything you need and a safe and mini fridge. Place was very quiet when we were there, but the whole island was. The hotel helped us sort out 2 quads to rent for a few days at $50/day/ea which is good. When we got out bill at the end they had price adjusted the rooms for us and we ended up saving significantly which we really appreciated! We had a very relaxing, beautiful stay at Villa Paraiso.…
The hotel is super comfy! It is located in a very nice area of Ometepe Island, in front of the lagoon water, with an amazing view and water sound! ♥️😍 The restaurant of the hotel is YUMMY!!! I advise you to order a “mariscada soup” and a “grilled fish with shrimp”! The ceviche is not good... but everything else is delicious!!! The shower is hot and very good, the breakfast is good too... Well, I really recommend this hotel!
