We spent christmas in Finca Exotica. We're a family of four with two girls of 7 and 11, and we were looking for that family atmosfere so that the girls would feel it's christmas. Ryan was really helpful as we asked him to be the Santa messenger and he gave the girls ther presents. Ryan and Angie are the perfect host, even though they're running a business, they're doing it so that customers would have the best experience. Ryan proposed some activities apiring us with other clients so tat we would pay less and seeing to that it was appropriate for all of us. The room was amazing ass they built all teh cottages with respect to teh environment, there were crowns around the windows made of wine bottles. It was beautiful. The food was amazing, we drank smoothies everyday from fruits coming from their garden. Ryan showed us around, explaining evey plant and how permaculture works. Of all the places we stayed, Finca Mystica was family's favorite. It is also close to the lake so you can go and bathe if that's the only thing you want to do during the day. That's the place, we're looking forward to go back to one day.

We stayed here in Feb. for 3 nights and I could've stayed here for much longer. We are a family traveling with a soon to be 15 yo, mom and dad.

The property is adjacent to Biosphere Reserve Volcan Madera between Merida and San Ramon. There is hiking trail on the property where we saw howler monkeys, magpies, and other wildlife. There is also a garden where they grow basil and peppers and many fruit and nut trees around the property, including cacao.

We got the adjoining casitas of Casa Luna y Sol for the parents and the teen and had a ton of room.

There's a restaurant on site that is superb. FM provides free filtered water.

There is a tiny above ground pool and a couple of beaches within walking distance.
They have bikes to rent by the hour or day, kayaks, motos, atvs, horse back riding and a lot of information for things to do around the area.

The best part of our experience was the staff. Brian (the owner) wasn't on site (on vacation to his extended family in US) but he was very responsive and his managers, Jairo and Wilfredo (brothers) were the kindest, friendliest and most helpful people. We really enjoyed talking to them and all of the Finca Mystica Family.

Just be aware that it will cost you $30 to get from Moyogalpa to anywhere on the Moyogalpa side (1-4 passengers) and that it is mostly unpaved roads. It takes about an hour or so to get to the port and back.

Finca Mystica (Bryan and Jairo) arranged the taxi for us from the port and also put us into contact with a driver from Rivas who picked us up from Managua airport and drove us t o the dock in San Jorge.

Finca Mystica is located on the far side of the island of Ometepe. It was created 15 years ago by an American couple named Ryan and Angie. There are several charming casitas, with a bed and bathroom, as well as a larger dorm for communal stays.
The grounds are lovely. I enjoyed walking on the Monkey Trail, where you are pretty much guaranteed to see howlers.
The staff are very friendly and helpful as well! There is a restaurant onsite they serves delicious, locally-sourced food at very reasonable prices.
Ryan is a great host. He seems very laid back, but always delivered on his promises, and was very helpful arranging activities and transportation. While there, we rode horses one day ( best horse ride ever!) took a guided kayak trip in a marsh on another, and on the last day we took a cab and visited a zip line and had a swim at a local water hole. I very much enjoyed my stay there!

We spent three excellent nights at Finca Mystica with our two children aged 4 and 5 who loved the place (monkeys who come to eat in the mango tree, many plants, various games...).
Located 500m from the main slope on the southern flank of the Maderas volcano, the finca offers eco-friendly adobe cabins nestled in the middle of a calm and lush garden offering a beautiful view of the lake.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is family and relaxing and the food served is hearty and tasty. An ideal place to recharge your batteries and all this for a very reasonable budget.

We loved staying at FM. The owners Ryan and Angela are awesome and have created a real oasis on the quiet Madera part of the island. The staff are also fantastic. The naturally built rooms are a lot of fun to stay in and the surrounding gardens and view and tropical breezes were amazing. We felt safe and secure there and it was very quiet except for a few howler monkeys but that's part of the charm of staying there. They can arrange anything you need or you can just stay there and chill and enjoy the peace of the place. We would recommend FM to anyone as the place to stay in Ometepe!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Finca Mystica for 3 days in May 2024. This place is absolutely wonderful. Perfect for a couple or family, if you are looking for a unique and authentic cultural experience in the jungle of Ometepe. The service was impeccable, the staff is helpful (it is a local family that manages the place, from reception, to cooking, to the maintenance of the large site). The staff is smiling, offers advice on Things to do and speaks very well in English, which makes communication very easy. The rooms are very clean and large. As almost everywhere in Nicaragua, air conditioning is not available but you have access to fans. The beds are also equipped with mosquito nets, which is really great since the Pension is located in the countryside. The place is beautiful, surrounded by nature, you feel in the jungle. We were even visited by more than 20 monkeys one morning. The Pension offers access to a swimming pool and communal area with a pool table, hammocks and board games. But the most fantastic thing is really the food. It was our best meals of the trip, lunches and dinners! Everything is homemade on site, we ate homemade bread made on site as well as fresh pasta made that morning. Everything was absolutely amazing and so affordable for quality! Only downside: the place is difficult to reach. To access the site, you have to take a road that climbs for about 5 minutes but it is in very bad condition. The ideal is to get you a 4 wheeler because even on a scooter it can be difficult or even dangerous to fall. The Inn can arrange the rental of the 4-wheeler on site.
If you are looking for a Pension that offers an Excellent Value for Award, in peace, away from mass tourism, this place is ideal. Thank you Finca Mystica for a memorable stay in Ometepe <3

Paradise. That's the word that sums this place up. The views are stunning. The staff are so accommodating and the food was amazing. Our family of 4 ( 9yr old twins) were treated like an extended family by Ryan and Angie. We were only there for the weekend, and were sad that we couldn't stay longer. From horseback riding to the most amazing waterfall then relaxing in a hammock listening to howler monkeys. The memories from this place will be ever lasting. We will definitely be back and are already recommending Finca Mystica to our friends and families.

The most beautiful accommodation on Ometepe, a quiet and dreamy location in a beautiful garden, invites you to enjoy and relax. The hosts Angel and Ryan and their team make your stay even more enjoyable with wonderful food and the best service. We would come back immediately. Thank you very much for the wonderful week 🥰

Occasionally when travelling, you come across an accommodation ‘gem’. This is one such place. We had the most perfect stay at Finca Mystica, comfortable cabins to stay in, a fabulous choice of food and drink (superb cocktails) and a great area for socialising. The owners Ryan and Angela were an absolute delight, nothing was ever too much trouble, be it arranging activities for us or advising us on our onward travel. They showed a real interest in us as a family and did so much to make our stay exceptional. I must also mention their two delightful children, Jasmine and Rilo plus Wilfredo and his brother who worked at the Finca and were always full of smiles.
How sad we were to leave

A beautiful setting in a garden filled with fruit trees. Wilfredo and the rest of the staff were very warm hosts and the food and drink is excellent. The dogs and cats who live there too are equally friendly, and there's lots of games to enjoy too.

La finca se retrouvant au milieu de la nature, qu'en est-il des chambres ? Y retrouve-ton régulièrement araignées et scorpions ?
Answer from nicaluna
ometepe island
Our cabins are airy but sealed really good. Every once in a while you may see a harmless spider or scorpion in a cabin but it's a rare occurance. They can be found throughout central America, in cities, beaches, plains and in the jungle. We have small kids and it's not something we worry about. In fact, it's more exciting than scary :) Have a wonderful day !
