Finca Mystica is located on the far side of the island of Ometepe. It was created 15 years ago by an American couple named Ryan and Angie. There are several charming casitas, with a bed and bathroom, as well as a larger dorm for communal stays. The grounds are lovely. I enjoyed walking on the Monkey Trail, where you are pretty much guaranteed to see howlers. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well! There is a restaurant onsite they serves delicious, locally-sourced food at very reasonable prices. Ryan is a great host. He seems very laid back, but always delivered on his promises, and was very helpful arranging activities and transportation. While there, we rode horses one day ( best horse ride ever!) took a guided kayak trip in a marsh on another, and on the last day we took a cab and visited a zip line and had a swim at a local water hole. I very much enjoyed my stay there!…
Excellent service and friendly owners. You get to learn about the local plants, fruits and animals. The location is remote and the jungle is all around. Perfect get-away for tired city dwellers or people who want to reconnect with nature. Good for families as well as solo travelers.
Paradise. That's the word that sums this place up. The views are stunning. The staff are so accommodating and the food was amazing. Our family of 4 ( 9yr old twins) were treated like an extended family by Ryan and Angie. We were only there for the weekend, and were sad that we couldn't stay longer. From horseback riding to the most amazing waterfall then relaxing in a hammock listening to howler monkeys. The memories from this place will be ever lasting. We will definitely be back and are already recommending Finca Mystica to our friends and families.
We spent christmas in Finca Exotica. We're a family of four with two girls of 7 and 11, and we were looking for that family atmosfere so that the girls would feel it's christmas. Ryan was really helpful as we asked him to be the Santa messenger and he gave the girls ther presents. Ryan and Angie are the perfect host, even though they're running a business, they're doing it so that customers would have the best experience. Ryan proposed some activities apiring us with other clients so tat we would pay less and seeing to that it was appropriate for all of us. The room was amazing ass they built all teh cottages with respect to teh environment, there were crowns around the windows made of wine bottles. It was beautiful. The food was amazing, we drank smoothies everyday from fruits coming from their garden. Ryan showed us around, explaining evey plant and how permaculture works. Of all the places we stayed, Finca Mystica was family's favorite. It is also close to the lake so you can go and bathe if that's the only thing you want to do during the day. That's the place, we're looking forward to go back to one day.…
Marvellous hostel! Beautiful, welcoming and warm, comfortable, delicious, genuinely ethical. I definitely recommend it. > Beautiful atmosphere: tropical garden, full of fruits, nice terrasse to chill and yoga deck, in the middle of the monkey jungle, with sightseeing on the lake and sunset. > Very tasty food, well served, local production. You can take chocolate baking lessons, with raw cocao (yummy!) > Ryan, Angela and their children were so welcoming. The hostel has a genuine vibe, with zero marketing nor green washing. They are involved in the local community and all the staff was so nice. > The dorm was luxurious and clean, with queen size beds, and arty architecture
We stayed for 5 night and to be honest we loved everything about the place. The accommodation, the food (everything is local and most of it is from the farm), the host, the activities and the view.... Thank you for having us and keep up the good vibes!
This place is magical. If you want to be surrounded by flowers, butterflies, howler monkeys, tropical birds and fresh fruits and vegetables then look no further. Jairo is amazing and bent over backwards to not only help but to anticipate our needs. The food was delicious, the rooms were super clean and comfortable. Only suggestion would be to add a few more hammocks and comfortable chairs in the common area. The past 4 nights at Finca Mystica were unforgettable and I will be back.
We stayed for 3 days, a family with 2 kids and wish we had more time.. Setting is amazing,we enjoyed the wildlifearound and most of all the super friendly and great team of the Finca. When you leave such a place you promise yourself to come back to make it easier to leave...Hpoe we will!
If you want a place convenient to the San Ramon waterfall, I can’t imagine a nicer place. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. The rooms were huge, and possibly the most spacious rooms we stayed in during our tour of Nicaragua. Also, there are lots of beautiful flora and fauna on the property. I did the Monkey trail on the property and saw 12 howler monkeys, 2 were 10 meters from the restaurant. A few small hiccups though. 1. The driveway is rough, and our Suzuki Swift rental had to be parked at the neighbor’s house, 500 meters downhill from the property. They’re in the process of fixing this, though. But if you’re visiting in the coming weeks, beware. The staff arranged a ride up to the property during our first evening, but we had to walk back and forth each time we needed to use our car. Had I known about this, I probably would not have booked a room here. 2. My daughter and I were stung by some wasps on one of the frisbee golf structures. It just sort of ruined our afternoon and made us a little hesitant to venture around the property. Also, the bugs were horrible our first night at the restaurant, swarming to the lights and falling in our plates. I can’t really fault Finca Mystica for the bugs. That’s Island life. I was just annoyed with the swarm. 3. I took a cold shower the first night. Upon inspection in the morning, I realized there was no gas tank attached to the hot water heater. The staff resolved the situation quickly, but it would have been nice the night before. Location - 3/5 Staff - 5/5 Amenities- 3/5 Value - 5/5 Despite our hiccups, I can’t imagine there’s a better place on the island. Once the driveway is fixed, it’ll be much more accessible. I also wish there were small lights to light the path from the restaurant to each room.…
Our family of five stayed for three nights at Finca Mystica in March 2019. We were quite excited to stay there based on the reviews that we read prior to booking. Our expectations were high as we drove up the country road to the main lodge...well, Ryan and Angela exceeded our high expectations in every category. Our super clean cabins (two side by side - one for the adults and one for kids) were creatively and thoughtfully designed and built by Ryan to impress clients from across the globe. Despite being there in the height of dry season, the grounds were beautifully maintained and contained every fruit, spice, or edible food one could imagine. The food was phenomenal - every meal was outstanding. Home grown organic gourmet food is ...an understatement. We worried somewhat about needing to go off the property to access a variety of food choices. There was no need to go anywhere. Choices abound right at the lodge. Ryan helped arrange horseback riding, a Maderas volcano hike (trailhead starts at FM), a fishing excursion, and rides to / from the ferry. Easy. Ryan and Angela have created an amazing place that will not disappoint. Just go...…
